      On the subject of if a keeper should catch or punch….I do not think he has a choice, in the split second he has to make a decision which is the right one he will either be right or wrong, I doubt keepers think beforehand they will punch or catch. If they are in catching mode though and are favourites to get the ball, if they get clattered they will have a foul decision for them in most cases. A punch maybe a little “iffy” if keeper gets it wrong

        Agree Brian, I think it’s a split second decision they make.
        Coming for the bull and they spot it move a little in the air so decide to punch rather than risk a fumble. Or they think they might get clattered so punch to get it clear – do t think they decide beforehand – I think it’s done in the last few metres of the ball travelling
