I have been one of his biggest critics since he got reinstated back to the first team but he has impressed the last couple of games and like @killy pointed out it might be because he shed off some of those muscles. Also like i stated before; it wasn’t about his talent but the application of it.

Hopefully they do sign a very mobile and aggressive DM next to him who will also push him to continue to be better.

Jumpers – That’s where Wilcox comes in isn’t it? He has to identify the exact profile of player that we need in that CM position next to Mainoo. It almost doesn’t matter who the player is it’s the profile that has to fit within the system perfectly. That’s the challenge.

Yes we do need a DM who is comfortable on the ball but the physical attributes and the ability to nullify an attack should not be disregarded because we play in a very physical league. An interesting summer ahead and Carrick it seems will be getting the permanent job.

Just watching the Youth Cup Final on TNT. 1-1 at the moment but fuck me, United are shite. As I’ve said on here before, it’s JJ Gabriel or nothing in my opinion. All the others will do what United youth players usually do, slip off quietly to lower league clubs and from there into obscurity.

Spot on Jm1502, I don’t see any of them making it to the first team. What’s worrying is even at that level we have no one with any pace, when they should be full of enthusiasm and energy. I personally didn’t see what all the hype was about with JJ Gabriel, he had a very quiet game, but he is only 15 so has plenty of time on his side to improve. The biggest let down for me was Chido Obi. He should be bossing games like this especially since he’s had a bit of first team experience, yet he was a massive let down. I felt there was more about Macheda at 17 then there is with Obi, and Obi is now 18? Haven’t seen much progress with him at all, if anything he’s regressed. People only took notice of this guy because he scored 10 goals in a match. But when you had the growth spurt he had for his age, that probably spooked the other kids out 😂

Agreed RedEngineer, City’s ‘men’ swarmed all over our ‘boys’. They just couldn’t handle the press, just like our senior players. And yeah, no pace, no energy, no power. What I will say in defence of Gabriel, and I’ve said this before, it’s as if the others are jealous of his fame, because they just starve him of the ball. It’s him or nothing though mate, nothing else coming through.

With the size of Obi the coaches should be helping him realize as a big lad his sheer size is an asset and how to properly utilize it as a battering ram because he is BIG lad.

JJ Gabriel has this technical ability that is natural and can’t be taught but only nurtured properly.

So, after 6 months of fucking around with De Ligt’s back injury our ‘brilliant’ medical team have waited until the season is over before finally sending him for surgery which now means that he’s highly unlikely to be fit for the start of next season, deary, deary me.

@happy – Oh do fuck off you clueless muppet, they’ve clearly fucked it up yet again. To go 6 months with zero success at even getting him back training again never mind actually playing a few minutes only then to decide that he needs surgery is just downright fucking incompetence plain and simple.
No wonder we’ve got so many perennial crocks in the squad if this is the sort of ‘expertise’ in our medical department, simple as that.

When it comes to back injuries, surgery is always the last resort because it’s not guaranteed to work, it’s unpredictable at best. I’d say he’s only being sent now because the surgeon has refused up to now to consider it. I heard a surgeon say once that he would prescribe five years of walking, swimming and other exercise before he’d even consider doing surgery on a patient. However, it doesn’t look good for him at this point.
