15th August 2025 at 1:55 pm #223857Just watched the Arteta and Amorim pressers, chalk and cheese. Arteta came over as calm and supremely confident about his squad and about Sunday. Amorim, on the other hand, sounded exactly like he did last season to me, hesitant and a bit defensive. He said we had enough options in midfield, which I guess he had to say, but he wasn’t convincing. I’m still not confident we have the personnel to win any game despite the additions. It’s a bit of a worry,

15th August 2025 at 2:19 pm #223859Jm1502, don’t worry, happy said we just needed more goal scorers based on xG etc, Amorim now has them, sleep easy pal.

15th August 2025 at 2:53 pm #223864Tend to agree JM. Although Arteta has been there 6 years and Amorim 6 months, i think that’s the main difference mate.

15th August 2025 at 3:06 pm #223866Well it confirmed my worst fears mate. I just can’t see anything other than an Arsenal win because they expect to win and we don’t.

15th August 2025 at 3:24 pm #223869Well they should expect to shouldn’t they? We finished 15th last season and they’ve been 2nd the last 3 years in a row. Cleary way ahead of us in their process.

15th August 2025 at 4:20 pm #223876I haven’t seen the pressers but I’m hoping Amorim is trying to manage expectations.

15th August 2025 at 4:32 pm #223879Manage expectations? And what are the defined expectations for us this year?
Finish in Top4?
Quality for Uefa (Europa or CL)
Finish in Top10?He keeps saying we will suffer.. at a certain point that has gotta change ..

16th August 2025 at 3:44 am #223986You keep banging the drum we are not good enough even though we have spent £200m and he is hopefully managing expectations. What do you want him to say? We’re ready to challenge? We will tear Arsenal a new one? Dee Utd will be doing the five finger shuffle after the Arsenal game?

16th August 2025 at 4:26 am #223989Remind me again how we did against Arsenal last year. Win one, drew one and lost one wasn’t it? Should have beaten them at ours when we drew 1-1. I recall Maz, Zirkzee, Højlund and Bruno all missing sitters, with Bruno’s being in the last minute.
When we won at their place in the FA cup their first shot on target only came after that muppet Dalot was sent off for getting a stupid second yellow.
Fair enough we lost at theirs in the league, when they played Stoke ball and got two goals from corners.

16th August 2025 at 7:47 am #223991It’s not that they’re that good Panda, it’s that they have a better mentality than our players who are just too flaky, as well as a number of them not being good enough of course. Tbh, after spending over 200 million so far and with a CM almost certain to come in (or else), we should be looking at top four. That means finishing above one of Liverpool, Citeh, Arsenal and Chelsea, and after watching the scousers last night, that should be our aim. Yeah, they all look better than us on paper, but they’re just not that good.

16th August 2025 at 8:59 am #223995Total agreement here JM. I thought we were better than Arsenal twice last season, won at City and should have won at Anfield. I watched that Maguire miss again the other day.
A strong, fast DCM who can pick a pass and three new forwards should allow us to beat the teams we failed against so often in the league last season.

16th August 2025 at 9:53 am #223999Some good news at last. Rashford is in the Barca squad for the first game, so they must have managed to register him. If they hadn’t, he wouldn’t have been able to play for them until they tried to register him again in January. Phew!

16th August 2025 at 10:11 am #224003@Jumpersforgoalpost Our record against the big boys last season was decent .. it’s teams we should be hammering that we dropped the most points against last season.. and me constantly saying we haven’t been good enough is just facts and not being delusional… when we start improving, being consistent and results starts coming in i will say that too …
Hoping to have a better season and enjoy watching football again this season.

16th August 2025 at 3:00 pm #224036I think that’s the main thing for me as well Dee, i’d like to actually enjoy watching football again. Apart from the odd game here and there i can’t remember actually looking forward to or enjoying football for a sustained period of time for years now. We had a couple of decent spells under Ten Haag but it never felt like it was going to lead to some kind of new era of being competitive. I really liked some of the counter attacking goals we scored under Ole but again his team never kicked on and really dominated games. He was the only manager who seemed to want the team to score 5 goals each game though – i read that we had more 4 goals plus under Ole than all of LVG, Jose and Ten Haag combined. That’s pretty impressive.
Anyway, hoping Amorim can bring in a new brand of football that actually excites us and wins games._____________________________

23rd August 2025 at 11:10 am #224548Shaw and Amorim saying how good the squad is now. I mean, its really nice that there are positive vibes coming out of the club but fuck me can you win some games of football first lads?? A few goals would be nice too before we all start sucking each others dicks!
