Ye poor stuff ed. Not surprised by the reaction to be honest. Its because hes a local lad. Hes absolutely adored at liverpool, has everything there to be a legend and local people dont understand giving that up.
Im caught in the middle. He e have been a proper legend. He has tarnished that now and will fall into the bracket of mcmanmann. Highly respected but not welcomed back with huge open arms. People think he had everything they would die to have. Local, future captain, winning trophies, absolutely worshipped on your home town. He has given that up now.
I wish him all the best. Its anew chapter and its real madrid. Players come and go. This more of an issue as its a free and hes from Liverpool. Totally disagree with shameless burning of shirts. Unique footballer. I hope he does well
Im not just saying this as he is going there but what an absolutely horrible club. Their actions last week after Barca game. The comments on the referees etc. their behaviour constantly is horrendous. Lost a bit of respect for carlo last week as he just stood back and let rudiger etc behave like that.
He goes there he is a nobody. The media will absolutely burn him for any defensive mistakes and fans will turn on him
Very quickly if his defending doesnβt improve. Horrible club bit biggest in the worldHe will be replaced like everyone else.

6th May 2025 at 8:58 am #219161Ed, I predicted (got this one right!) out of the 3, Trent would be the one leaving.
I think what’s cause irate and upset is the way Trent’s landed himself across with this. One minute at Leicester he’s exhibiting defiant celebrations, the next, he’s in public announcing his intentions. We know he has a good friendship with a certain JB at Real Madrid.
The way fans have taken to this is that in their minds, they’ve placed this in the same bracket as examples in Steve McManaman, Michael Owen, and Raheem Sterling. Sterling for me was the worse and probably Steve McManaman.
Ultimately as Sean rightly points out, players come and go and perhaps fans in the current climate need to take this on board and just appreciate the time they’re here with us. Having said all this, there is more of a distinction in an example of let’s say Firmino to the now Trent where one will be Welcomed and the other likely disregarded.

6th May 2025 at 10:49 am #219164Sean, I know what you mean mate. Owen to be fair made that choice. You should never be playing for your arch-rivals. In my books that’s just wrong.
Our fans really do show their loyalties above and beyond. They are equally therefore right to change their attitudes/feelings towards them when they are disloyal or just sell themselves for the sake of a supposed better life and wealth that comes with it.
If you have shirts you no longer require or articles, simply put them in a black bag and donate it to Charity rather than to burn. There’s no need to resort to such behaviour!

6th May 2025 at 10:51 am #219165Ed, yeah, social media as you know spreads like wildfire and it’s easy for people to jump on the wagon without taking a slight step back and think of the Context.

6th May 2025 at 11:26 am #219166I do think fans, of all clubs I hasten to add, are hypocrites when it comes to players, the moment the player in question doesn’t do what the fans think is “best” for the club they become public enemy #1, yet turn a blind eye when clubs, all clubs, treat players like cattle…
I don’t have a lot of sympathy for any multi-millionaire who’s made his fortune kicking a ball about, good luck to them for doing so, but how anybody can blame them for acting in their own best interests in a “professional” capacity is beyond me.
To use TAA as an example, why are the players blaming him when it was the club who allowed him to run down his contract… they could have been offering him extensions years ago to try and keep him.

6th May 2025 at 11:36 am #219167Chucks, yeah all good and fair points mate. So the assumption on social media is that it was Trent that ran down his contract. He’s 26 so I’d have thought he would have been approached at some point about a new deal.
If his intentions all along were to leave than so be it. From an LFC fans perspective, they should try and accept this decision and look forward to the up and coming celebrations of the Title. I mean the last one was 35 years back!
And, why not turn their focus on players who do want to commit themselves like Andrew Robertson. I’m sure if Kerkez does come this summer, he’ll need a senior in the dressing room to show him the way.

6th May 2025 at 12:18 pm #219168Liverpool should be happy his going. Horrible demeanor about him plus a very sort of hateful face. Fit in well with Real Madrid.
