Of course City players have not battered anyone (that we know of!) and this is not referencing what City fans have done either.
Whilst City will deny it, it does appear that the lyrics “All the way to Kiev, to end up in defeat, crying in the stands and battered on the streets, Kompany injured Salah, victims of it all, Sterling won the double, the Scousers won **** all….’ would indicate towards the high-profile attack on Sean Cox by Roma fans. Maybe City players were too stupid, ignorant or naive to know the consequences of what they were singing, but they sang it, and have caused a lot of offence.
I think if I was a relative of Sean Cox I’d be pretty upset!
I don’t understand either how you can defend them or exactly what your reasoning is.15th May 2019 at 5:03 pm #40956
Jesus adlab shocking posts really.
Absolute tripe from you.
People can try butter it up anyway they want
Victims and battered on the street don’t need any explanation ffs.
Really poor from some in here but I’ve said my piece.15th May 2019 at 5:07 pm #40957
I wouldn’t bother threeps. Pure ignorance and absolutely terrible to try and defend that.
Nine it’s about Sean Cox. That’s as clear as day. It’s disgusting and city fans sing it. All fans sing terrible songs but this is the players and it’s ridiculous people are trying to spin it any other way
It’s about hillsborough and it’s about Sean Cox. No excuses. If it was liveroool players I’d condem all day long.15th May 2019 at 5:09 pm #40958
What are you actually going on about adlab. Your comments are an absolute disgrace. What the film you talking about players, Heysel etc???
Jesus Christ15th May 2019 at 8:06 pm #40960
‘The media have been whipping up the Sean Cox issue’??
Adlab…you’re a good guy, but listen to yourself please. How would you feel if you were a relative of Sean Cox? How would you feel if you were a relative of the 96?
I sense that people think Sean, Oz, threeps and myself are blowing this up out of proportion, but frankly it disappoints me more haven’t unequivocally condemned the rank stupidity and ignorance of the players involved. Mocking the gravely injured and the dead is bad enough by knobhead fans, we don’t need it from role model players who those same knobhead fans will copy next season.15th May 2019 at 8:12 pm #40961

Just thought I’d give my tuppence worth on this – for what it’s worth.
I knew the words to this song – can’t say I’ve ever sung it, bit too old for that now, maybe the odd rendition of Blue Moon or City, City but that’s about it.
My understanding was that it only referred to Liverpool’s trip to the CL Final last year. The line about Salah is actually “Ramos injured Salah” and the line “Victims of it all” was reference to the Salah injury and the excuses that were made because of it. At no point did I ever think there was any reference to the horrific attack on Sean Cox, I just assumed there was trouble in Kiev.
Perhaps I’m naïve, as I’m sure those City players/staff that were singing the song were. I can’t believe any of our players would sing it if they thought it referred to other incidents.
Not trying to make any excuses, just saying it as I see it.
Anyway guys, I know I don’t post that often but that’s probably it from me until next season, at least. I need to have a break from this – feeling I’m ‘treading on egg shells with one or two, each time I script a post – not sure that’s how it should be.
Have a great summer all.15th May 2019 at 8:32 pm #40964
Derby equalizing. 2-1 now on aggregate. Leeds cannot throw this away!!!!!15th May 2019 at 8:32 pm #40965
Hey, gj, you stood me up on our second date tonight, and don’t stop posting on here please! Here’s me at home like Cinderella!!15th May 2019 at 8:41 pm #40966
Lets forget songs and just stick to football.
I think Derby might steal this. From what I have seen who ever wins will struggle to stay up.
Next its the transfer stories most made up!
Anybody got a nice holiday booked?15th May 2019 at 8:47 pm #40967
That Final last year was one of the worse nights of my life being a Liverpool Supporter I cannot stress that any more. It was absolutely brutal the treatment of Mo Salah from Sergio Ramos. God’s Honest Truth, that led me to never set eyes on any Spanish Football ala La Liga and I stuck by my guns. Ironically, this all involved a team that I had become fanatical of in Real Madrid.
Clearly that’s ultra great for me to recognise in my own life experience of morals what’s right and what has crossed the line. I never forgive Ramos and nothing can be undone. of that.
So Songs Sung of that ilk, meaning and intent, I’m sorry but there’s no room for that on any scale – won’t condone it. Fans are Fans, but on a Private Plane where the scene is that they have just Won The League Title, I can’t truly fathom that behaviour at all.
On a side note, there was no need too to for a small cluster of fans to throw Beer towards the direction of Gary Neville when he was making his way in the Amex stadium.
