I read they wanted to remove the word ‘deliberate’ from the handball law and not allow rebounds from penalties to stop people encroaching into the area.
Would help the ref but they should be able to apply the laws as they are.

Alfie, the problem is the refs are just to inconsistent mate.
How many times this seasons have we seen the letter of the law not being applied?
2nd yellow cards not given to players for kicking the ball away , blatant fouls and pulling players back
It’s shocking to be honest chum. So many basis mistakes. Clear cut pens not given.
The handball rule is just silly.

We can’t have it both ways, cyber chums, if the “letter of the law” was applied in every match, it would probably end up being abandoned due to lack of players on the pitch.
Said it before, with all the cheating the players get up to, who’d want to be a ref in the first place?

Sean, agreed, so inconsistent. That’s why changing the law won’t help much anyway.
Some really strange decisions made or not made. Can’t see that changing regardless of whatever happens with the wording of the laws.

Alfie…a sad state of affairs but true. I also think players themselves must take part of the blame, Refs will always make a mistake, is the game too fast for them now??? I do not know but you rarely see a Ref that is a commanding, no nonsense person these days. To help Refs I would also ban mass player protest, only one person should approach a Ref and that is the captain the rest at least 20 yds away.

Sean…the handball rule is stupid, the number of times you see a player kick at an opponents hand or with such force he cannot possibly get out of the way. I am amazed the “elf and saftey” people have not been in saying players must have the right to defend themselves from injury

Brian – I would certainly agree and have no issues with refs booking players other than the captain that talk to the ref.

Mind you, if tonight’s ref at the Etihad is the usual standard that City get I can see why they would be upset with Taylor being appointed.
