So should Fulham and the Spam-boys…

It’s not just about the wedge you spunk, but where you aim it too, and Pepe has a very good aim!

Agree with you on that Mr Chuckster.

John Stones for me is never the almost 50 or so million pound player Man City paid for. Danilo was bought for almost half and he’s a much more of an astute Defender.

Pep layers up with good players but his secret actually if anybody has not picked up on this already is that he has a large squad where he has used some individuals sparsely. Riyad for example only made 4 first team appearances and look how much he was sold for by Leicester.

Sean, nobody is denying that Chelsea and City took it to new levels but during the 70’s and 80’s driven by the Moore’s money Liverpool were employing the same strategy Alan Kennedy for instance was a record breaking signing for a full back by Liverpool in 1978 and that’s just one example Liverpool’s an integral element to Liverpool’s success in the 70’s and 80’s was the financial support of the Moore’s family.

David Moore’s sold Liverpool to Hicks and Gillete on the promise of them building a new ground and making substantial investment in the squad unfortunately for Liverpool that didn’t work out.

I find it quite strange that City and Chelsea fans can acknowledge the monies spent and how it propelled their Clubs to the success that they had whilst Liverpool fans seem to want to deny what is an historical fact.

Let’s also not forget how excited Liverpool fans became at the thought of a Dubai takeover via DIC which went very close but eventually foundered.

This would never have even been a point of discussion had threeps not posted what he did this morning and in terms of Financial Fair Play which is the title of this thread Chelsea have complied with FFP every season since it was first introduced.

Oz,”Threeps makes what I think is a pretty valid point in that FFP came in too late, city & chelsea had built squads no one can compete with & now with FFP no one can spend similar insane money so it’s a slow catch up.”

Except Liverpool finished 5 points ahead of Chelsea last season and 25 points ahead of Chelsea this season and are about to appear in consecutive CL Finals.😊

Just to remind everyone because we’ve all strayed a long way away from the theme of the thread cityboy started this thread by posing this question.

What is everyone’s thoughts on maybe city being banned?

I’m not sure whether I’m the right person to be championing for any radical changes.

For example, I’d like for our lot to spend big, though never for 500k on any player Weekly.

Would my arm be twisted though if a case was made for the 3 Best Players from the Entire squad?

There’s players out there that rightfully deserve their financial rewards although again, the argument to counter would be that they are on a huge wedge in the first place. Bit of a Pendulum swinging from one end to another.

    Threeps @ 7;44pm today
“My opinion, without wanting to sound tribal or upset anyone, is that strict spending rules should of been implemented long ago before Chelsea and City could buy their way to recent success. It’s more a reflection of the game today than a dig at those clubs”.

Well there we go. Are you Platini in disguise?
That’s exactly why FFP was brought in, engineered by the ‘cartel’ of powerful European clubs – Barca, RM, BM, (and one or two others). Pulling up the drawbridge before any ‘new money’ can muscle in. At the same time attempting to preserve their cosy niche, which in many examples was built on money. Barca and RM, as an example, basically wrote their own TV deals in Spain – now how can that be financially fair?
