Team seemed relaxed and played with some real freedom. Kerkez was excellent, best game I’ve seen of him in a liverpool shirt. Salah looked much sharper. And Dom is doing that no.8 justice atm.
We got a lot right and let’s hope we can build on this form.
Ngumoha robbed by the lino though._____________________________

14th February 2026 at 9:59 pm #239496redglen, Chiesa was not bad and organized the press pretty well up there, calmed things down when needed and showed some leadership. He did not have a bad game in a position he is not used to playing.
Gakpo for example provided that goal for Szobo even though I canยดt take anything away from Salah either, the attack was linking up and providing from both sides.
We were unlucky not to score 4 goals with that offside from Rio, it might have been given in the league actually.
Best home game in a while!

14th February 2026 at 10:24 pm #239497Not had notably many days and nights like these and of those we had we had probably in nature taken for granted.
Enjoy It! It Truly is Encouraging and Convincing.
I’ve turned off already the Radio; “Brighton weren’t good” this that and the other. Lol conveniently they can’t just all be Happy and Peaceful and that typifies and reflects our Society. People want running coverage 24/7 to keep their own positions Relevant. The UK Government the same.
Leave things as they unfold in REAL. Liverpool won Convincingly!!!

14th February 2026 at 11:07 pm #239499Was in hindsight right in leaving out for a change Ryan Gravenberch.
Obviously, I’ve been on Slot’s back, but tactically he deserves the plaudits from this. Rather that installing Dom, right-back and with him being made to run up and down in force to cover multi-position ala against Manchester City, Curtis rightly was selected. We got it Right!!! And I’m Super Pleased Everything effectively went according to PLAN! ๐ ๐

14th February 2026 at 11:15 pm #239500I canยดt really credit Slot for this victory, it was the minimum expected, I will credit him for winning the final though if that happens.

15th February 2026 at 8:35 am #239503Ginger, also reason i thought eitike might play left as we signed isak. I wasnt sure if an 80m player be just a backup 9.
He hasnโt played on left when isak is fit so my thoughts were wring. Not sure how you fit both into the team when all fit. Im all over gakpo this season but he has been much better last two games.
Mac, exactly we jave put 2/3 wins together alresdy this season.8 days off and forest play Thursday. We need to go on a good run now.

15th February 2026 at 10:05 am #239507Sean, I’ve seen that article headline on the BBC Site, but yet to really see all the footage.
Personally, I’m a bit wound up with VAR and I believe the FA should take a step back and give it a break to just let Refs and Linesman make all the calls and judgements.
The offside rule needs to change though in my opinion letting play continue, then flagging afterwards. That’s not good. They should go back to how it used to be.
I didn’t even see anything wrong with Rio’s goal last night.

15th February 2026 at 2:19 pm #239516I did have another look at the goals today and I think Chiesa had a pretty decent game up top. First header that went in from Gakpo, he was slightly offside but you got Chiesa right next to him making the same run. Shortly afterwards he blocks a defender with his movement and opens up a run for Salah to attack the box which almost leads to a goal. In the first goal he is attacking the near post and without that run Jones would not score, they are the only two players attacking the box. In the 2nd goal he drops deep and his marker follows him just before Gakpo takes possession of the ball and crosses the ball to Salah, without that deep run that space that opens up for Szoboszlai would not exist either. When Salah gets a penalty he is also right there next to him blocking a defender or two. He is smart, thatยดs what I like about him, he got experience and not used to playing as a striker. It was not a bad performance from him, he also kept on pressing and pointing out where he wanted his team mates to press from.

15th February 2026 at 3:38 pm #239517Bingo, Chiesa offered very little threat but, as you quite rightly said, never stopped running (almost Nunez-esque but with brains), organising the press, cutting down passing lanes and creating space for others. A solid, joint effort yesterday.

15th February 2026 at 4:26 pm #239518I never really was that upset about how Nunez performed, I never thought he would even score 20 goals in a season.
With three forwards we just need one or two scoring regularly, Bobby never scored that much as a false nine and he still remains the greatest forward Iยดve seen at the club.
I would take Bobby over Torres any day actually, it only gets hard when we talk about Suarez but then again he did not have the longevity Bobby had at the club and Bobby delivered every title there is.
We need someone smart there if Ekitike or Isak are not available, I was quite pessimistic about Chiesa performing that striker role at the beginning of the match.
as long as our striker is scoring in double digits in the league and both our wingers scoring in double digits we donยดt have to worry, Ekitike can up his level. Isak can score around 20 goals in the league, Salah can go on a unstoppable form and deliver a goal and assists until the end of the season if it really clicks for him.
I think a few of the lads have focused down after some speculation in January that almost happened. Jones was close to leaving, Robbo was close to leaving, Chiesa was close to leaving… They are all big personalities in the locker room, vice captain, cultured international and the only scouse remaining in the squad.
That last goal by Rio was onside as well, he should have stood and he remains a prospect, I donยดt truly want Barcolla or anyone else in for Salah, he might slow down a bit but he is smart enough to remain clinical and will simple supply more assists then goals.
Cause even with age and bad form against him, I would still bet on Salah finishing the season in very good form. I think he was focused on the AFCON cup earlier in the season, not really willing to go the extra mile as he wanted to be fit for the AFCON.

15th February 2026 at 4:40 pm #239519about gameplay though, if nobody makes those runs and opens up space or makes the wrong runs we donยดt score. You could maybe argue that he was in the wrong spot when the penalty happened but we got a penalty, he was blocking a defender or two from surrounding Salah but a little bit in the way but where could he have gone? He made the choice to block the defenders, which was a smart decision instead of trying to run into the limited space that was there and if Gakpo had been one step behind when he scored his offside goal it would have been a 50/50 header between him and Chiesa. Chiesa was more in sync with the pass than Gakpo who was offside, if he would have let Chiesa head the ball the goal should have stood.

15th February 2026 at 5:27 pm #239520Not to be pedantic (but am I being) Bobby never won the Europa. Different entirely too to Torres. Nando was a bull and had every technical and physical skillset required for the nine position. Could score from any range, any foot and a brilliant header of the ball too. Bobby played deeper, a creator, an instigator.

15th February 2026 at 10:04 pm #239522lol who cares about the europa league when you are winning old big ears?
No look nutmegs and no look goals instead of the directness of Torres, Suarez was the best of the them but he did not show enough loyalty to be considered a legend.
If we had not sold Torres for Carroll that window and still brought Suarez in we would have had a team actually.

15th February 2026 at 11:33 pm #239523Agree on the ‘legend’ bit. Just a beast of a player during his short time with us but never seen anything like Suarez and likely won’t again in my lifetime. Both, different gravy (as we say here in Cowtown).
