Come on Alfie… do you genuinely think a manager says in public what he says in private? Any manager for that matter, not just Poncho. They’re just soundbites cyber chum!
So why the angst by some on here over the comments which point out that Poch is wrong to suggest winning trophies is bad? Surely if you disagree with Poch yourself you’d be in line with those who also disagree with Poch?
Is this one of those where we all actually agree, but thought we’d argue anyway?29th January 2019 at 11:04 am #32354
United are the biggest Club in England and one of the biggest Club’s in the World most players will be attracted to playing for United if they are offered the chance but I’m not sure what who does and doesn’t want to play for United had got do with the price of eggs.😊
This Poch debate has been perfectly summed up by Alfie “Is this one of those where we all actually agree, but thought we’d argue anyway?”29th January 2019 at 11:08 am #32355
I think the “ego” line after the fa cup loss was basically Poch saying “look, the cups are a bonus, but we ain’t going to compromise the league for them.”
I think the “couldn’t sleep after the Chelsea game” line was understandable – even if you don’t particularly value cups you’re still going to go for it if you find yourself on the cusp of a final. And if you lose on penalties it’s a very difficult one to take and that is going to keep you awake at night. So I think both these positions can be consistent with each other in this context.
What a lot of this does demonstrate though is the increasing gulf between the objectives of an owner vs the objectives of the fans.29th January 2019 at 11:20 am #32357
Not in my house goldie, and I’m not even denying it outside my house either, simply saying this egotistical (funny how spell check said testicle) attitude that everybody will crawl through broken glass for the “pleasure” of pulling on that red rag… if it was that bloody good, why are the paying Dirty Sanchez half a million quid a week? Surely, being so special and all that, he’d be doing it for free, right? 🙂
And to all of you, don’t think any Spud-lover has mentioned having an real issue with anything Poncho has said or done over the last week or so, that’s just you cyber warriors giving it all large…29th January 2019 at 5:13 pm #32377
This is classic Mo , rambling and never answering the question, this is from today’s press conference.
Sorry but you will have to copy and paste the whole thing, then find a comfy chair and open a large bottle of single malt ,you’ll need it.If you understand it put a shortened version up please.29th January 2019 at 5:19 pm #32378

TBA, Do you see a point where Tottenham are the same level as Real? Pochettino “in the future of course”29th January 2019 at 5:48 pm #32381
Audere est Facere, cyber chum, Audere est Facere!!29th January 2019 at 5:56 pm #32382
Plenty of daring but very little doing.😊
But in fairness the question to Poch was a bit of a stupid one.29th January 2019 at 6:21 pm #32383
“The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.”29th January 2019 at 6:27 pm #32384
3 to the power of 3, if you mean the size of the club and it’s standing in world football that’s a no.
Could we be at a level to play them and win yes I do ,we did that last season.
I even find it hard to compare Spurs with City, Utd, Liverpool , Chelsea and Arsenal, when you look at purely finance and the ability to buy players that cost £50m+ we should be firmly bottom of that mini league.
Don’t quote me but I think I heard today that our 5 year net spend was £25m, we have a truly amazing new training ground, a £!b ( blame Baldy ) new ground which is staggering and we have been in or around the CL places for a few years. Spurs first X! is good but with the financial restraints we have had to bring through young players which I admire, but only if they are good enough. I watch every Spurs game and recently our bench has been not of a top 6 club standard.
Spurs have to stay in the top 4 to get a CL spot, how else when the purse strings loosen, will we attract the quality of player we need ? If we had won the FA Cup this year I would have been delirious but would winning the FA Cup convince a £75m Moussa Dembele replacement to come to WHL
After 2 seasons without a home we are sat in 3rd ,we could have started Winks, Erikssen and Toby but just say 1 or 2 of them got injured to add to what we already have on the treatment table, we would then struggle to get a Europa place.
I am sorry if this doesn’t make sense 27 but I’m full of OxyContin & OxyNorm and concentrating is tricky at best cheers mate.29th January 2019 at 6:39 pm #32386
Good post TBA very difficult for any PL Club to get to the same level as Real Madrid but all of the top PL could beat them in a one off game even potentially over two legs especially this current Real team.
On the positive side for Spurs it’s a great Stadium and it will be up and running soon on the negative side can players like Eriksen being persuaded to stay and you’ve got to pay for it.
Ultimately all players want something to show from their careers other than just lots of money and how long will Spurs top players hang around without winning anything?
Equally how much can Spurs afford to spend with the Stadium to pay for in order to try and keep up with the likes of City and Liverpool and probably a rejuvenated United.
Still it’s only a game and there are much more important things in life . Take care buddie. Cheers 999
