That discussion has been thrashed out before.

The fact of the matter (through no fault of their own) is that the league has a combination of foreign players.

Percentages at best I’d say 70/30.

We don’t have as many top quality English players coming through.

Not sure why England would need to play a premier team in the first place to validate their existence!!🤔

It’s a hypothetical question Nil, no one has mentioned anything about validating an existence!

Leicester wipe the floor with England? I’d take England’s front 3 over any club side in the world. I genuinely mean that. Kane, Sterling and Sancho has a perfect mix of goals, quality and potential. Name me a better front 3!

As for Maguire, everything he does will be picked up on now because of his fee and rightly so. He was obviously not worth what we paid for him but he’s easily England’s best defender. Gomez might well overtake him but he’s not there yet IMO.

Put the likes of Foden in as the creative spark and Gomez alongside Maguire and there’s a quality side there in a year or so. Bottom half?! England would easily challenge Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea IMO. One of Leicester’s best players, Maddison can’t even get in the England side. Nor would Vardy any more if he hadn’t retired.

I’d go with tonkings from City and Liberools, a draw with the Spuds, and victories over everybody else!

As for the future, I don’t think it’s too bad…

    Pickford,
    Chillwell, Maggie, Gomez and TAA…
    Berkley, Henderson, Rice
    Sancho, Kane, Sterling…

Maybe a bit of tinkering in Midfield (am writing this rather quickly!).

That’s a pretty decent 11 to me and that’s before we get to the subs…

I know my first statement there will surprise some and people will instantly point to Liverpool. I’d still argue Kane, Sterling and Sancho is the 3 I’d go for. Liverpool certainly pushes them close. But aside from Liverpool, who else can claim to have a better front 3 in the club game? City possibly? But I’d take Kane>Aguero marginally simply because of the way England play to his strengths and his penalty record.

England have had MUCH better sides man for man. But I’d argue this side we’re putting together now is more balanced and less reliant on individual brilliance.

Mak, I’m not talking about winning an odd youth tournament though. A couple of seasons ago, England pretty much swept up at most age levels. That’s not a fluke. There’s no saying it will lead to anything but there’s a reason English players are suddenly in demand all across Europe

Chucky, agree it’s that CM position where that side looks weak. But put Foden and Mount in there in a year or so and I think there’s real quality there

Portugal,France and Holland will easy beat Engerlaaand, easy! Spain,Croatia and Italy will give Engerlaand a game,Id say 50%-50%.
Kosovo should feel very proud of themselves, didnt give a fuck facing Engerlaand, and considering the fact they have been an independent country only since 2008,with a population of just under 2m,they were fantastic.Engerlannd very good going forward, their defence will get slaughtered by the likes of France and Portugal.

Not wrong Sweddy Eddy… but I wouldn’t chuck Foden or Mount just yet, still a bit too raw around the edges and I reckon they’ll get eaten alive by the bog-digs. I think 2020 is a bit too soon, but 2022? Hmm…

Goosey, I can think of about 130 million reasons why no Prem teams went in for him, too young and a bit too lightweight too…

Not as sure as you Mav. The likes of Depay and Daley Blind, Ryan Babel etc for Holland are bang average. Sure they have some stars dotted around the sides but neither of their attackers would even make England’s bench imo. France are the side to beat at the moment. I don’t even rate Portugal all that highly tbh.

I’m not for a minute saying England are an amazing side. But on their day, they’d give any one of those sides you mentioned a game Mav.

England would be a really decent side if they had ONE quality midfielder like KDB or Benardo Silva for example!

No faith in Foden then Adlab? Bit like Pep then? 😉

Yeah I mean every side in the world would be improved by the likes of KDB. But, by the same token, Belgium et al would be massively improved with Kane or Sterling in their side so it works both ways

3p’s, it’s just the view mate that’s left me in strong disagreement. It’s only because I think there’s people out there that are too critical of England.

I always felt with Southgate, it was a complete Reset Button. He’s genuinely a Great Guy and the crop of players he’s inherited are good pros above all.

It doesn’t bother me personally what their club shirts are.

I’m not sure about the idea of England playing a Prem Team, but would welcome the idea of Liverpool V Brazil 🙂
