Sort of get where you’re coming from on the implications and the bigger picture. I.e. commerce and fans paying good money to watch their favourite Stars. A 3 Match ban e.g. would impact that. I wonder then where Officials are mindful of that and therefore reluctant to take any hard action.
I have heard fans mention a points ban.
I think clubs and their Managers should be warned formally/officially. There shouldn’t really be any favourable treatment. They should be punished just like anybody else or at least be warned about their misdemeanours.22nd January 2019 at 9:42 am #31885
If a player is caught diving on a regular basis then retrospectively the rules allow for that player to be banned and if we want to see diving stopped that is what should happen.
Once bans start taking effect diving will disappear.
Calling players out for diving on football forums just ends in silly tit for tats.

Nine, no one has been calling any player out, well except for yourself with Salah on the first page. We are discussing possible future actions, consequences and where it all might end up.22nd January 2019 at 10:36 am #31890
Yeah, blame the puppy… 🙂
Every player cheats, some just have more dramatic outcome on the game than others…22nd January 2019 at 11:30 am #31894
The very simple solution to this one would be for the referees to compile a list of incidents where Sterling has dived (and include everybody else who dives for that matter)… that should at least shut up the players/managers, perhaps even guilt them all into doing something about it…22nd January 2019 at 11:34 am #31896
threeps, in the words of John McEnroe “you can not be serious”.😊22nd January 2019 at 11:36 am #31897
……..As I said earlier hand out retrospective bans and it will all but disappear from the game within months.22nd January 2019 at 12:01 pm #31899
What’s the guy supposed to do (at times) if he’s surrounded by 2/3 players all the time? I get Salah, but maybe what he did on Saturday could have been avoided. Now the poor guy lands himself a reputation.22nd January 2019 at 12:20 pm #31900

Nil, cyber chum, are you trying to suggest it’s unfair when defenders mark a player in the penalty box, leaving him no other choice but to fall over??22nd January 2019 at 12:31 pm #31901
Chucks, sometimes, it’s difficult mate for a Ref to pick up every detail of an incident. If for instance, 2 or 3 are on a player, one or two of them may cause infringement.
It’s very rare over the course of 90 minutes for the course of events to be absolutely streak free whichever the area of the pitch.
Of course, as far as the Penalty area goes, there’s going to be a gleam of spot-light.
If we have goal-line tech, then VAR could monitor and handle this positively and efficiently and simply don’t award or overturn a decision if wrongly a Penalty Kick is directed.
I would hedge a bet that even the most prolific and persistent offenders will soon get tired and just back off.22nd January 2019 at 12:59 pm #31902
Mr. Balance, if a player has three players round him that means you have two players unmarked, give the ball to them…..Pagan22nd January 2019 at 1:16 pm #31903

Nine, but where to draw the line? Sure we all accept that going down as if shot by a sniper is worth a retrospective ban, heck even the FA do! But take Salah’s recent situations, the Palace one I say was a deliberate attempt to con the ref albeit there was contact, but the Brighton was genuine although I’ve seen many disagree. These more debatable ones will surely cause a lot of problems, with counter claims by players and teams etc.
But what about feigning injury? Surely that is worthy? And the “dark arts”? Where do we stop banning players? Will there be anyone left to play?22nd January 2019 at 1:29 pm #31904
Lol, Pagan, somebody needs to be making those runs in the first place in or around the box 😀 😀 🙂22nd January 2019 at 1:48 pm #31905
threeps, I don’t think we can solve all of the problems in the game in one hit but specifically on diving there is in place a review panel for diving they need to get a bit more active imo.
Currently the rules allow for a retrospective two game ban. That panel needs to be become more proactive the prospective dives need to be reviewed by the panel and those found guilty of diving after those retrospective reviews should receive a 2 match ban if they are found guilty again of diving on top of that I would add another game game ban so from 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4 games.
In 6 months I suspect diving wouldn’t be a problem in the PL.But if the panel continue to sit on their hands this problem will never go away.
