The Battle of the Unbeaten!

That melodramatic heading is certainly representative of both teams this season and the unbeaten stretch goes back even further for Palace having not lost for 6 months and 17 games winning two trophies in that period. Well done Palace!

What a tough game this will be as shown over the last seven matches between us with it either being a draw or us or them narrowly winning. Our record though over the last decade has been impressive with us winning 90% of our matches here.

Visiting teams have done well here though recently with both Forest and Sunderland coming away with a point and it took a solitary goal to beat a bang average Norwegian team (well, they’re all average over there) in the ECL and penalties to beat Millwall recently in the League Cup. They are definitely beatable here and that 17 game stretch is impressive no doubt but 10 of those have been draws (over 90 mins).

I do expect Palace to create all kinds of problems for us with their new winger from Villareal testing Bradley (hope he defends better this weekend), Mateta of course and Sarr (if he’s fit). I like their combative midfield of Will Hughes (remember when we were linked to him at Derby?) and Wharton all marshalled nicely by a player we absolutely should have got over the line this summer (for reasons previously stated about our never 100% centre back dept.) in Guehi.

Who will start?

Alisson, Bradley (to get booked, he always does), Konate (Mateta will target him), VVD, Kerkez, Grav, Mac, Szobo, Wirtz, Isak and Salah is who I am going for.

Bradley to come in for Frimpong who was about as organised as a kite in a storm the other night, Mac to bolster up our mid, Szobo as the 10 and Wirtz in the left attack role to try and stretch their 3 man back line which slips into a (5)41 out of possession.

Expecting Mateta and/or Sarr to bag so going for a DRAW or home win.

Macca concern as not fully fit and not playing well. So its writz, grav , szobo or writz on left instead of gakpo and macca in with grav and szobo

Back to business against one of the toughest teams in the league.

Can we beat them, of course we can, but we have to be at our very best to do so, so Slot the tactical genius has to conjure up something special here.

Same team as last eek, except Isak in for the suspended Ekitike, who I’d have started with if he was available.

In such a tough away fixture, I’ll go with our tried and tested, experienced midfield, and Wirtz can come off the bench to make a big impact. Same with Chiesa, Frimpong and Ngumoha.

Spot on I believe Songman, with that selection. I do hope Isak starts. Think of late, Palace have has a bit of a hold on us and they have been a resolute team that will have a good. Looking forward to this Saturday Afternoon 3pm kick off.

Two players in ooor form are macca and gakpo and i think one will drop out today unless we okay szobo right full which i hope doesnt happen

Either way, Gakpo is a good option to come off the bench with fire.
