Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte later confirmed the decision while announcing an expanded lockdown for the country hit hard by COVID-19.
“We also have more stringent measures in mind for sporting events,” Conte said. “Serie A and all sporting tournaments in general are suspended. All the fans must accept that.”

The CL will be suspended the second this stage is completed. There’s now no way that Liverpool can mathematically collect the PL before the spread in the UK gets to Italy levels, so that will also be “suspended”.
In such a case, they better award Liverpool the PL title. They’ve said that this won’t necessarily be the case… well too bad, it bloody well better be.

Pep says he would rather see games suspended rather than play them behind closed doors. That’s his personal view and of course City will play as instructed.
Behind closed doors or suspension of fixtures looks certain to come soon and could run until the end of the season.
It’s a moving feast Mak but we’re talking life and death situations now. I don’t think Liverpool will be awarded the title until the whole season is completed by everyone how that’s achieved is the question.
Currently games will continue until the Government says otherwise which is probably not far away.

It may not be morally right, but if the league isn’t finished by the date stipulated in the rules of the competition then it becomes void, you can’t change the rules halfway through or even 80% through…..Pagan

I think as far as everyone is concerned Liverpool are Champions and always will be but if the PL gets suspended Pagans right if it ultimately doesn’t get finished the whole thing gets voided which also effects European places and Relegation and Promotion to the PL.

This is because the Arsenal players came in contact with an infected person (Olypiakos chairman I think) within 14 days and so haven’t really got a team, it’s not because of fear of spreading the disease amongst supporters. If things worsen which is looking likely then behind closed doors matches is very likely. I can see that happening in a week or two.
I read (don’t quote, unofficial story and maybe rubbish) that the league will only be cancelled if a player is infected. I’m sure they will be tested regularly at the moment. If it is cancelled and the results voided for the season, then yeah it’s shit for Liverpool and also for many other teams like those looking at promotion, but it’s because of an issue that is much bigger than football.

Mav, I’m not sure to be honest, there’s no real solution that would keep everyone happy. I found this online regarding Seria A’s current suspension:
“According to La Repubblica newspaper, there are three options open to the Lega Serie A in these circumstances.
Postponing Euro 2020 would seem to be more likely if the virus continues to spread throughout Europe, as there was another significant spike in cases in Spain today.
It could be put back to the Autumn, or even to next year.
Another alternative would be putting together a crammed fixture list for the final month with a game every two to three days, postponing the Coppa Italia entirely until June or August.
The worst case scenario would see the season end here, so the FIGC would not assign a Scudetto at all, only European places.
When it came to relegation, the clubs would be protected, so promote the top two in Serie B (without additional promotion play-offs) and increase Serie A to 22 teams.”

If the league is stopped or cancelled the problem is that although Liverpool have clearly won the title it’s much broader than just that as it covers CL places, EL places, relegation places which also impacts on promotion from the Championship stopping football won’t just affect the PL it will go down all the way to Division 1 and outside of maybe the PL few if any Clubs can afford to play behind closed doors for too long.

It’s a big problem to solve which goes much further than just the PL and there are far far bigger problems ahead with this Corona Virus which is going to cost people their lives and you wonder whether we shouldn’t be shutting our boarders and parking all Sport alongside , Theatre’s, Cinemas, Sports Centres and Swimming Pools etc etc sooner rather than later.
