Palmer has been playing without a smile on his face for quite some time now so the last couple of performances at SF and Final stage have really come out of nowhere. My first thoughts were that he was putting himself in the shop window but his genuine happiness celebrating with the lads at the end suggest that may just be my mind running wild and just a coincidence. Having Pedro there to work with and actually playing him wide right where he has been most effective may well have given him the necessary enthusiasm. Also thinking back to when he was average at best, mostly PL matches he was afforded no space to work and heavily man marked so this tournament has likely given him more space and therefore freedom to express himself. It worked out really well big time.

16th July 2025 at 2:25 pm #221637Guys, I’m honoured that you think I’d make a good moderator but at this stage of life its not something I’d want to have to commit to. I have plenty else to manage at the moment and just happy to post here and there. I think that our little home base in TT ran smoothly for two years without a moderator and there were little or no squabbles going on even though we were split on the new owners and the manager. We accepted some posts as ‘yeah, whatever’ and moved on. The current crop are a great bunch of lads. Cheers guys.

17th July 2025 at 3:30 am #221670I think Chelsea1967 made a very good point. Against European & South American opponents, we have more space. Not so much in the Premiership. Some of teams are very defensive but also the pace is much more intense. Not much room for Palmer during his dry spell. Hence the acquisition of Joao Pedro who is a pretty much different type of striker than Jackson. Much more technical to unlock defences. And Delap who plays physical to βbullyβ defenders.
I hope that Maresca & our players get enough rest as some other teams have already started their pre-season. I wonder whether we will be ready mid August when Premier League starts.

17th July 2025 at 7:44 am #221675Aindro how can any team rest if the season starts in 30 days. Give them maybe a couple of days off and then it’s back to training, you can’t start training again only a week before the season starts, Usually it’s 12 weeks of pre-season training for all teams professional or amateur.

18th July 2025 at 2:06 pm #221803Rover I think this is a drawback of a summer tournament like CWC, that there won’t be a proper pre-season for the partipating clubs. World Cup have the same effect, the difference is that not all players from a club are involved. Probably, most aren’t participating in a World Cup thus clubs still have a proper pre-season. But nonetheless, we know that CFC need the money and we got the maximum money we could from this CWC. Moreover winning the tournament with no doubt is good for the morale of the team.
Not sure how much summer holiday that the players and Maresca are getting, probably 2 weeks top. Early August I believe all players should report back to Cobham and start the pre-season. I just hope that this tournament won’t jeopardize our 2025-2026 season as the schedule is pretty packed with UCL. We could not play fringe players anymore like we did in Conference League last season.

18th July 2025 at 2:25 pm #221806That Joao Pedro goal was one of beauty assisted by Palmer. Pretty sure Jackson wouldn’t have dinked the keeper and would have been a missed chance. Delap, not sure. Really looking forward to the Palmer/Pedro show this coming season.

18th July 2025 at 3:45 pm #221808Chelsea1967: I did not rate Joao Pedro when he was at Brighton. But what he showed during the CWC semifinal and final was really awesome. A technically gifted player, not unlike Cole Palmer. He dinked the ball in the final, he curled the ball 1st goal in the semifinal, he shot hard 2nd goal in the semifinal. Three different techniques. All right foot though.
Delap showed what he can do. He curled really well but Donnaruma saved it. The 2nd chance one on one he should have scored though.
If given that kind of pass by Palmer: Jackson would have shot low and hard and Donnaruma would have saved it. So far, Pedro and Delap each looks to be an upgrade to Jackson. It does not necessary mean that Chelsea don’t need Jackson or if he’s a bad player though. He creates chances. I won’t be surprised if he is attracting interests. Chelsea may not inted to sell Jackson but if we can get a decent profit, IMO why not.

18th July 2025 at 3:58 pm #221809Although I arrived a bit late to the discussion due to family and work commitments, I want to express my happiness for Chelsea1967 and the vote of confidence he received. I fully support his recommendations. That said, we must respect his other commitments, and itβs important to acknowledge that weβre all adults in this conversation. Despite our differences, things remain calm on the Chelsea site.
I was delighted with our performance on Sunday! Everyone was rooting for PSG, and few gave us a chance, which played to our advantage. Credit goes to the players for executing the game plan to perfection. Standout performances came from Palmer, Pedro, Caicedo, and the entire back four. Additionally, I want to commend Maresca for his strategic approach.
Iβm looking forward to the new season!

20th July 2025 at 11:17 am #221910Jackson played primarily down the right wing for Villareal but also can play left wing so could it be possible he become a direct replacement for Madueke, Neto the opposite wing, Pedro/Delap the CF and Palmer given an open licence to roam. Maybe that is the key. Never again play Jackson as a centre forward. It is simply not what he is naturally any good at.

20th July 2025 at 1:04 pm #221934Jackson and Gittens as options to come in from the left wing could work, I’ve always preferred seeing Jackson out wide on the left as his limitations as a CF are obvious. On the other wing we have Neto and Estevao, whilst we have various other options in a wide role such as Palmer and George.
In other news, it seems that we’re looking to get 40m EUR for Veiga. I quite liked him but it appears the club’s vision for him was playing at LB whilst he insists on being a CB. He’ll never start ahead of Colwill at Left CB so if we can make a tidy profit of him then it releases cash for further reinforcements.
I’d like to see us get a proper No1 keeper, and a back up for Cucurella.

21st July 2025 at 7:01 pm #222005Now that the joy and euphoria of winning the CWC have passed, as during last week I repeteadly watched the highlights of Chelsea matches and particularly the final where we played really awesome: now a bit of worry starts to creep. We won’t have enough time for a proper pre-season. I am afraid that despite our opening fixtures that are on paper really good for the first 6-7 matches: we will labor so hard due to lack of pre-season.
While our performance during the CWC was superb, I have a big doubt whether we can replicate that kind of performance in the League. CWC was one-off. The league is continue throughout the year. And the first opening matches against Palace, West Ham, Fulham, even Brentford: London derbies. And they will play defensive. Not ideal. They will be a very different feel than in the CWC where space was aplenty and Cole Palmer, Neto and Joao Pedro could roam freely.
