I’m glad for us we’ve got Real Madrid as they’re Beatable. Certainly a score to settle and 2018 still and will refresh my memory, vividly no problem.
That said, I don’t know. Different Dynamics and still in all honestly have a feel of Weak when we don’t have our Supporters being able to attend Grounds and Infuse Solidarity by LIVERPOOL DNA.
It is what it is from that particular Aspect. Let’s hope we’re in a position of being able to Field a good selection of players.

Nine….I see your point but for me it is still wrong. They. UEFA. could also be brought up by the Trade description act!!!!! Give it a different name or do as it should be done, a shorter contest of REAL champions. You almost acknoledged it by saying it does not get to be a contest until the quarter finals, or words to that effect. I know things will not change and football is desperately looking for new formats to liven up the TV audiences around the world but this contest is well past its” sell by date”

Brian, it’s not going to revert back to the original format and name now Brian there would be no value in City playing the Champions of Iceland. Generally under the current format you get all the best teams in Europe competing for the trophy now.
I think you’ll find that the vast majority of teams playing in the Champions League have previously been Champions of their national Leagues and calling it the Champions League was a branding exercise but the European Cup as a name was just as good.
I definitely didn’t say nor infer that it doesn’t get to be a contest until the Qtr Final stage but it does become much more interesting from the last 16 when it reaches the knock out stages but even some of the Group games can be interesting providing there’s something on them problem is that the Champions of Moldova can’t compete with the Man City’s of the world in the Group stages.
I definitely don’t agree that the CL is well past its sell by date I love it whether Chelsea are in it or not.

999 & Steveo, The team he started should have been good enough but they weren’t interested in playing, then he had to bring the subs on, but took the wrong players off……. again. Jose didn’t want to concede but had no intentions of taking the game to them,he picked the team accordingly and he’s too stubborn to ever change.There are clear splits in the club dressing room , which Jose, created , which are now appearing on the pitch. If there was ever a game for Kane to think F.. this I’m off ,it was Thursday night.
A lot of people trashed Poch because he won nothing, but give me the team spirit he instilled , the flowing football & the brief flirt with glory anyday , rather than the man who didn’t speak to his players on the plane back to the UK .
Spurs don’t have the financial clout to ever win big trophies, so it’s always been about the football until now.

Shiney, yeah it’s all a bit of a mess buddie and tomorrow’s not an easy game either if everyone is not singing from the same hymn sheet.
I’m not sure what Lloris said was helpful on Thursday night these things need to be sorted out internally.
I would be amazed if Jose is still there in the Summer and Kane must be questioning whether he should stay or go in the Summer too whether Mourinho goes or not.
It all went wrong at Spurs imo when Levy wouldn’t back Poch in the transfer market.
The Stadium is fantastic but you can’t build a fantastic Stadium at the expense of the team Arsenal were the lesson for that.

999, You have hit the nail on the head, Poch pleaded with Levy to spend as the team needed refreshing but he didn’t.Spurs were a couple of good players away from challenging for trophies , instead he sacked him as he will Jose, as that’s cheaper than investing in the quality needed. Spurs will never make the big time while Joe Lewis owns and Levy controls the club, we got close but that chapters gone.

Shiney, you and banjo were right re Jose from the start mate, you didn’t mince your words and haven’t moved an inch on it, it wasn’t the right fit.
I thought he would win a trophy, ruin the squad and sod off, looks like it will just be the last 2.
You still have some top players though, under a different manager you could be doing a lot better and personally I was out of my mind for thinking Jose could succeed at spurs. As a chelsea fan its hard not to be a mark for Jose, but he hasn’t come anywhere near the level I thought he could achieve at spurs.

Nine…I did not know that…well, I hope the changes are for the better, they will have to be mindful (UEFA) of how Fifa/ TV/ and Sponsors look on how they would like the game developed to or I can see all kinds of congestion in fixtures and the dreaded global league appearing. Lucky, you’re right we do have a few decent players ,but they are being stifled by negative tactics,a few games this season have been very good sadly the majority have nothing short of abysmal , the look on the players faces says it all WTF are we meant to be doing???

Nine…I can see a “seeding” programme being put inlace if what you say happens. This I would not like. Should be treated like the FA Cup…all in a bag , and drawn out. I cannot think of anything more likely to make fans bored with too much football It will certainly benifit the richer teams and dilute the games interest

A seeding system is not in UEFA’s plans currently Brian and nor should it be like you it all has to be drawn out of the pots as UEFA do it now.
But more games do equal more money and this new format is designed to head off the European Super League which seemingly it will do. Cheers 9’s

I would not hold your breath on a Super league Nine. maybe not next season but after that?????? I do not like that either!!! If you ask me what I really, really want, it would be, somehow there would be a leveling out of all clubs in England, I just like the though of the Prestons, Carlisle etc having a fighting chance. I do not know how it could be done, probably never happen but we have a good league system in England that just needs a little help to get better, not richer.
TV will have its pay /view audience but fans going to matches need lower prices to generate better atmosphere and get them back in grounds when Covid is clear to do so_____________________________
