Pajero, I don’t want to get particularly political on a football forum, but it’s another example in UK society of Marxism in sheep’s clothing. Some comments on the powers:

Tough new financial regulation to improve resilience across the football pyramid to ensure clubs are sustainable for the long term.

Ed: Why just in football and not in, say, supermarkets or cricket clubs? Football clubs have, until the most recent era of some going public, been private enterprises with many falling by the financial wayside. This is simply govt overreach and another excuse for the govt to exert ever yet more control over daily life.

Stronger, statutory Owners’ and Directors’ Tests to make sure club custodians are suitable and aren’t using illicit finances with powers to force rogue owners to sell up.

Ed: There is already a raft of AML laws and checks and balances in the UK financial system. What can this new body find out that existing financial regulators and law enforcement fail to discover?Other than politically screening prospective owners out?

New standards for fan engagement in club decision-making.

Ed: Fans can do this by simply not buying tickets or starting grass roots campaigns. Imagine trying to implement this for Supermarkets or Car manufacturers.

Bars on clubs joining closed-shop competitions and breakaway leagues.

Ed: So clubs are stuck with UEFA and FIFA forever?

Backstop powers to ensure a fair financial distribution between leagues.

Ed: Maggie Thatcher: “The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money”

New statutory protections for key club heritage aspects like home shirt colours and club badges and stadium moves.

Ed: Same comment as before – imagine trying to enforce this with any other kind of private sector market.

This is nothing more than conditioning the country for ever greater swathes of socialism and should not be welcomed in the slightest.

Rover – you are spot on. I could expand on the other ideologies you refer to, but I’m living abroad and don’t want to fall foul of the online safety act if ever I come back to England for a visit…

This thread has become too political for my liking. Can we return to discussions about football?

It’s quite disappointing that no club seems interested in Ben Chilwell due to his high wages. Interestingly, Raheem Sterling, who earns even more, has clubs inquiring about him.

On another note, Mike Penders has already joined Strasbourg, and K. Paez is set to follow him there. The deal for Hato is in its final stages, and an agreement is imminent. Likewise, the negotiations for Simons are progressing smoothly, with an agreement close at hand.

In other news, Nicolas Jackson may leave Newcastle, with Juventus expressing interest. Chelsea is demanding £80 million, while Newcastle values him at £65 million, so they are not far apart in their valuations. Additionally, there are rumors about Viegas potentially leaving, with Atlético previously interested, though they have since cooled their interest.

65m for Jackson would be a great deal for Chelsea, however I can’t really envisage us getting that much for him. I read Guiu may be going on loan to Sunderland. I would have kept him as the 3rd striker but then he needs game time to develop still very young.

hi all, its been a while due to me losing access to my hotmail account and forgetting my login password. Instead of Chelsea1967 I am under this name Blues1967. Thanks to our Ed for helping me get back on here. Strange decline in form with our lads since that huge win against PSG. Lets hope the return of key players like Palmer will give us a change in fortune. Liverpool on the weekend will be scary especially with them coming off a rare loss.

Forest could probably not be in any a worse situation right now trying to implement Ange’s style of play and him coming off the back of zero wins from, I think half a dozen matches or even more. Typical Chelsea would donate a win a bit like we found a way to allow an anemic Manchester United points. This time though I am hoping not – 3-1 Chelsea.

Our trip to Forest tomorrow has all the makings of a banana skin. Forest haven’t won a single game since August, back when Nuno was still in charge. And honestly, Chelsea 1967 you might be right, we’ve been a bit of a charity FC lately, handing out first wins to struggling managers like Amorim. It would be peak Chelsea if, after beating the champions last week, we went and lost to a Forest side that hasn’t tasted victory in months. You just couldn’t make it up. I will be pissed if Maresca plays James or any other player out of position and we lose again.

Horrible first half. Mistake ridden defensively and lucky not to be losing. The difference no Caicedo and Enzo makes is clear. Caicedo on the bench must come on if we are to go on and win this plus Estavao needed desperately out there. Changes at half time needed, we shouldn’t leave it until 65 to 70 minutes as I have a gut feeling we will go behind in this if there is not a huge turn around in our performance in all respects. Expect a huge turnaround this second half. Still think we will win this.

That first half was absolutely dire, we were lucky to go into the break level. Credit to Maresca though, those substitutions changed the game completely. Still, we were far too open and handed them way too many chances. on another day, we could’ve easily lost that. Hopefully, the manager shows the players those moments and uses them as a learning experience. And you know what? I can’t even remember the last time we were the ones to cost a manager his job, maybe Tony Pulis back in his West Brom days but I’m glad we finally stopped being a charity FC and handed the ex-Spurs boss his final nail in the coffin.

Ange sacked 19 minutes after fulltime. Wow, if his players had taken their chances gifted by our defence in that first half that result could have been a whole lot different. Knee jerk reaction by a pig of an owner who sacked Nuno for whatever reason after 3 matches that resulted in a win, a draw and a loss. At this time feeling sad for Ange but ecstatic at the end result.

That Forest owner is something else. I actually like Forest, but if he were running any other club, I’d probably be wishing for their relegation. The way he treated Nuno, a manager who made Forest a fortress and took them to Europe for the first time in over 40 years was disgraceful. Storming onto the pitch to publicly scold him in front of the whole world was one of the lowest moments I’ve seen from an owner. That’s what happens when wealth breeds arrogance and entitlement. And now, if the rumors are true that he’s looking to hire Seab Dyche a man who plays worse football than Nuno. well, the madness just continues. what do you think of Guiu performance? His cameo was a breath of fresh air. He might still be raw, but you can see the instinct of a true number 9 in him, always looking to stretch the defense, pressing aggressively, and positioning himself intelligently inside the box. His movement alone caused problems that Jackson and João Pedro haven’t been able to lately. He brought urgency and intent when we needed it most. Hopefully Maresca rewards that impact with more minutes, because there’s real potential there. he just needs time and confidence.

Guiu is ok as a backup to Delap when his fit ok, doesnt look very skillful but ok for hustling and busling uofront. Juan can play just behind him which is more suitable position for him but once Palmer is fit than I dont know. Still have doubts about Maresca, i mean why his selecting a fullback like Gusto who again looked completely lost when you have midfielders on the bench. His tactics and selections caused us to lose the only 2 games we have lost so far. Anyway I hope he gets better cause we can’t keep changing coaches. We got lucky in the 1st half so its also very unfortunate for Ange the way it all unravelled.

In the first half, Nottingham Forest controlled the midfield and took the game to Chelsea.

The Chelsea midfield trio of Malo Gusto, Romeo Lavia, and Andre Santos were disjointed. No cohesion. Nothing was clicking and it affected the attacking play too.

But immediately Moises Caicedo was introduced in the second half, everything changed. He brought a balance to the team, they started playing with purpose and goals started pouring in.

This is why I continue saying that Moises Caicedo is the most important Chelsea player, followed by Cole Palmer.

If Chelsea’s scouting department is paying attention, players like Mateta and Semenyo should be on their radar. Both are experienced Premier League players who’ve proven they can handle the physicality, intensity, and pace of the league, something our current squad still lacks in key areas. Enough with signing endless projects who might come good in years. we need players who can make an immediate impact and Marc Guehi would be a fantastic addition if we can bring him back on a free, solid, composed, and already familiar with the club. Moves like that are smart business and exactly what we’ve been missing lately.

Important that we win v Ajax having lost one already. We certainly don’t want to be only 3 or 4 points going into match day 4 in a few weeks time. I have a feeling Maresca is going to tinker again (must be the modern day Claudio Ranieri) and try and save key players for the Sunderland clash on the weekend. Ajax currently 4th in their league but their form not the greatest however certainly cannot be taken lightly.

The blue print on how to beat this Chelsea side was created back in the Lampard and Potter era. Defend en masse and nick it in the final minutes when we are getting desperate. Many new players in since then BUT same inexperience that doesn’t find a way to get the desired result. That’s what a couple of tough experienced hardened pros in the side brings. Also not convinced we have a true leader out there. Reece James is no John Terry in that regard and that is for certain. We should have beaten Sunderland 100%. Thrown away 3 points in my opinion. Majority of the game was slow, boring ball retention football without a clue on breaking them down but still Joao Pedro had a huge opportunity for a shot on goal which looked certain to be converted but squared without looking straight to their defender. That was unforgiveable. He hasn’t scored for ages yet in America looked sensational. Estavao was mostly ineffective and should have started that game. The combination of Marc Guiu and Pedro struggled the way Sunderland set up. Poor result and back in the gutter a little. Johnny Minerals loves it I reckon, his negativity against the owners and coach fed by these sorts of performances and results and he has a pretty decent following on You Tube, worshippers, all pushing for BlueCo out and that looks like it will never change whatever happens out there in the middle. I thought Garnacho was one of the better players in this one and scored a good goal but Minerals was laying into supporters for being happy about his signing for signing ‘baby Lurch’ as he calls him. Wolves in the Carabao Cup next and, no doubt a greatly changed line up as the Weekend brings on Tottenham away which now is another must win to stay in touch.
