The CL begins again commencing with the draw on Thursday evening.

Three PL teams are seeded in Pot 1 Liverpool as CL winners, City as PL winners and Chelsea as EL winners.

Please let Liverpool get Leverkusen, they are only 20 minutes up the road and even if I couldn’t get a ticket (ha no chance!) I could go soak up the pre-game atmosphere.

Being in pot one obviously has it’s benefits, but those 3 English teams could still end up in a group like this:

City/Liverpool/Chelsea
Real Madrid
Inter Milan
RB Leipzig

Agree Mak although the Champsion League is always better for short trips than the Europa. There you can end up drawing against Dynamo Timbuktu or whoever and having to cross 18 time zones.

Ideal group for me:

Liverpool
Ajax
Leverkusen
Genk

Short trips for the players, fairly weak opposition, and importantly good drinking for the fans.

I don’t think any English team should really be in fear of anyone, including either of the Madrids from pot 2.

Ya, the Europa League can be desperate for the long flights, didn’t we have Moscow in that comp? Christ.

Anyway, do they award the Player of the Year trophy at this also? I really really want to think Van Dijk wqill have a chance but I just think I may be lying to myself and that bloody Messi, who couldn’t do a thing against us at Anfield, will take the trophy as himself and Ronaldo pretty much always do. Ronaldo hasn’t a hope in hell but ya.

I really do think Van Dijk should get it though. He’s the best CB I’ve ever seen.
