‘By the time 2pm rolls around’ we could be 7th or 8th depending on Chelsea, Sunderland and even United winning. Three points essential as I can see Arsenal dispatching Palace and City winning at Villa.

Brentford are doing well under Keith Andrews, who I like, and don’t concede too many goals. City only beat them 1-0 here a couple of weeks back and Brentford recorded their first away win of the season at God awful West Ham on Monday (we need to get Bowen in January – he’d jump at the chance).

We’ve had a couple of blips against this lot (3-3 and a 3-1 loss) but other than we’ve usually come away with maximum points including this fixture last season, but it needed two last gasp finished from Darwin (he only went on to score one more goal after that game last February).

Who will start? Well, injuries predictably racking up now so will go with….

Mama, Bradley, Konate, VVD, Kerkez, *Grav, Mac, Szobo, Wirtz, Ekitike and Mo. I think they’ll let Kerkez move up and keep Bradley more reserved and keep the 4222-shape adopted last night. If Grav isn’t fit then Jones.

This is a game we need to win and should as long as we keep Thiago quiet (he will cause us problems) and the excellent Damsgaard in midfield.

There are players either in form, coming into form or out of form but seemingly so far this season this doesn’t seem to come into consideration too much for Slot so have no idea what formation he’ll play or which players.

Last night we seen the return of the more intense press (still some issues there) and I want to see that continue.
Seen a good bit of full backs overlapping last night too and again want to see that continue.
I’d like to see Jones, Chiesa and MacA off the bench.
If any of the defenders come off the bench it’s likely because things arnt going well.

Ive watched a good bit of Brentford this season. Their right full has the longest throw ive ever seen. We have to be dominant in the air and ffs keep a clean sheet

We defend well as a unit and we will win. Hate when slot bangs on about teams going long. He has to have a plan for it

Their front 3 as loads of pace so maybe kerkes should start to deal with quattara

Tough game and we have to be up for gor a battle and deal with ling balls, throw ins and set plays

Recently, it’s been easy to beat Liverpool in the league, just lob in a ball into our defence (pass, throw-in, free-kick or corner) or run at them with pace, and they panic, like last Sunday.

And our opponents will try to do the same, so if we mess around again and concede the first goal, we will be in big trouble.

But we have to do is firstly defend like mad, to not concede, as Klopp said in his podcast this week, but more importantly, exploit the elite attacking quality of our front four to the fullest, and take our chances.

Keep it simple, strongest team starts, now let’s win it.

macclad, a very valid question and if I had my way then either Wirtz or indeed Cheisa would start ahead of Mo who has only one goal from open play since the first game of the season. Was actually looking forward to seeing Frimpong in that spot once more causing chaos but alas, he’s injured, again. You absolutely know Konate is next to go down btw.

Sticking with my original line-up adding Jones for Grav. I’d put my house on it.
