If the defence needs something to wake them up then let it be man absolute battering here. Absolutely DREADFUL from Van Dijk. Still asleep from trotting to the PL last season… I’d nearly sub him off for that.

Bizarrely, I think the score line is a significant consequence of no crowd. Defences just too casual. Bit like having a training match on a FIFA computer game. Not focussed enough.

If Maguire makes that mistake VVD did today as well as his nightmare performance for the Netherlands the other day, he’d be absolutely hammered. Whilst there’s no questioning he’s the best around at present, he’s still a long way from the best PL defenders through the years in my opinion.

I don’t know whether there’s some feeling out there without the crowd of a ‘training ground exercise’. That was over-confidence and assuming from Van Dijk and should have just left it for the keeper. First goal was quality.
The main outcome is that we’re in front in spite of the goals conceded. 2 More goals scored without conceding would take us to the Top of The Pile.

All the best PL defenders made those mistakes Ed, I’m not going to defence Van Dijk there, or our defence in general but I mean, I’ve only said above that I’d consider subbing him off for it and put DREADFUL in capitals, so it’s not like he’s being patted on the arse and told that he’s beautiful.
I don’t particularly feel like singing his praises and comparing him to anyone right now but Im sure you can guess my position on the matter, this game and also the last few LFC matches aside.
As for this though lads, this is way too casual, Mikus maybe the lack of a crowd has some importance but I think more of it is down to us taking our foot off the gas. What’s Trent at today? casual. I don’t want to end up complaining too much but this is unacceptable. It’s not a training match FFS.
Salah’s 2nd goal was such a sweet strike, I immediately regretted having aubameyang in my side instead of him, who has already been traded out for Fernandes (this was the plan)… but this makes me wonder about Salah.
Gomez isnt good enough here but he’s had a bit of fight in him at times, so I won’t jump all over him right at this minute but he’s got to be sharper.
Leeds look like a fairly decent side. It’s too early to know much about thme but they don’t look at all like relegation fodder.
Going back to us, we’re facing Chelsea after this?.. If our defence doesn’t snap out of it, they’ll humiliate us.

Don’t get me wrong Mak. He’s by far the best in the world at the moment. I’m not referring to here anyway. Obviously you’ve dig him out and rightly so. I’m talking about how rival fans would have been ripping Maguire apart for that mistake today or if he’d put in a performance like VVDs against Italy last week.
I just personally don’t think he’s a patch on some of the best defenders from 10-20 years ago. Makes little difference now though. I’d still have him in my team, given the chance, in a heartbeat.

Exactly. I initially didn’t like the shade of red and still don’t. We look like toothpaste and those stripes and borders are just bloody weird. The commentator said it looks like we have our shirts on backwards and holy shit, he’s right.
anyway really poor from us here. I hate being right but this is what you get when you take your foot off the gas. It breaks up momentum.
