Carrick took a crap Middlesbrough sitting inside the relegation zone and missed out on promotion via the play off spots. Second season he finished 8th, but got to the semis of the EFL cup. Third season they had a huge injury list and also sold their top goal scorer from the previous season in February, finishing 10th. Ultimately, the board didn’t see these missing players as mitigating factors and sacked him, but he is their second most successful manager of all time based on number of points per game.
Is he the long term solution, in my opinion, no. But will he be better than Amorim in the interim, absolutely

1st October 2025 at 7:00 pm #227768If we were to switch to a back 4, this is how the squad may look. Obviously need a CM asap, could also do with a natural left winger, but that’s a squad that should be qualifying for Europe

3rd October 2025 at 1:15 pm #227831Serious question/ comment….would Southgate work as a temp manager? Bring in a very different culture and a simpler set up on the field.
I know he isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but he might just get results, not excitement but a few 1-0 victories would do me._____________________________

4th October 2025 at 1:00 am #227849Both Solskjaer and Carrick would come in and keep it simple – play either 4231 or 433. We’d have players playing in their natural positions and not making silly mistakes
That’d get us thru the season, finishing in European places, giving us another transfer window to finally attack central midfield

23rd October 2025 at 8:00 am #228821Ah it would have just soured our amazing win at Anfield if they’d have lost 5 on the bounce. They’re still a very good team obviously but they have their flaws and Amorim brutally exposed them on the day! π

23rd October 2025 at 6:27 pm #228837Firstly, Frankfurt are shite. Secondly, yeah, we should have done more a lot earlier in terms of Ekitike. And apparently heβs a United fan.

23rd October 2025 at 11:18 pm #228840He hit the ground running. Let’s see how long Sesko takes, he’s shown only a fraction.

24th October 2025 at 12:28 am #228841Did you see that Robertson pass for Ekitikeβs goal?? It took about 20secs from the pass to the ball hitting the net β¦ when was the last time we hit a pass like that to any of our attackers β¦ Hence why Ekitike has hit the Ground running also a mention for the NewCastle lad he seems to be doing alright for them too

24th October 2025 at 8:59 am #228849There is a notable difference between Ekitike and Sesko, from what I’ve seen Sesko does need plenty of service. Ekitike seems to link up play, cut in from the left, isn’t scared to dribble, will take shots from distance and he seems really mobile. From a starting position his acceleration is quick for somebody that big, still early days but as much as Sesko needs service, I’d like him to have involvement in build up play.
