Sean, yes mate feeling starting to feel the vibes now. Signed off for my last shift so whole weekend free ๐Ÿ™‚

We have to be focused and play the game than the occasion me thinks and we’ll be fine. 2018 we were swayed into the occasion and individual errors costed us.

Vnr Jnr, Roderigo, Moderic Benzema will pose danger and are special players that can’t be dismissed. Every player needs to bring their ‘A’ game and do essentially what we’ve done all season.

    Cheers

Well Eddie Howe may have what it takes, but he’s going to need financial backing and time to implement changes. Lots more new signings too this summer.

Comparisons of Liverpool and Man City:

There is and there isn’t a difference. I don’t think a great deal. I think just slightly in players they have more and of quality. E.g. their Defense; Cancelo, Diaz. And more back ups such as Ake and Stones. Middle of the Park, Rodri. Gundogen and Bernardo.

We’ve had issues with injuries and form in Naby Keita. His form has been open to question by some fans but he did step up against Newcastle. He is better suited when supplemented by Fabinho. Oxlaid Chamberlain looks like out of favour, but he was the player who had drive through the middle channel and would take shots. That’s shots at the keeper relentlessly we’ve missed. We’ve not been as relentless as Man City in some matches leading to dropped points and draws instead of wins.

The job has been done with results put together which in itself was remarkable to claw back a 12 point lead and take the race right to 75 mins of the final day.

That’s the only real difference I see. It’s funny that once again we’re the team that loses a minimal amount of games but finish as Runners Up. Pep is definitely some machine ๐Ÿ™‚

    Haha, Adlab not quite ๐Ÿ™‚

The Brentford Manager should receive an Award for sure. What I’m saying personally is that shouldn’t take away the shine off both Jurgen and Pep’s achievements.

A face-value congratulations; though this is probably better served in-house amongst the Big Boys in Suits.

I think the Manager Of The Year in Essence is open to interpretation as evident on discussion here from the subject brought up.

I’m going with the Brentford guy in terms of exceeding expectations; a big surprise. Howe deserves recognition for turning Newcastle around, but not enough in my books.

Leeds were subjected to essentially a second-season syndrome. They exceeded expectations coming back into the top flight and were winning matches behind closed doors (the season they were back).

When United won their first match, it raised more than eyebrows on the opening day. I thought they would challenge for the Title and Chelsea would pip Man City.

We have threads and posts documented on this site that will validate our thoughts back then. It’s healthy and all good. The position we are now in is hindsight so that can skew our perspective. On the same token though, a lot of us fall into ‘that trap’ when barely 10 games of the season are played.

Some teams find their form late on, some drop off, but yeah, the one that’s consistent and has done enough to finish 1st deserves recognition for that achievement.

This I’m sure will open up a discussion of “which would you rather win”

Push aside Klopp’s Portfolio, Liverpool fans hadn’t won for years any of the domestic cups and that we wanted to put right and win under Jurgen which we did.

I don’t think we gained a proper lift-off as far as the League went. The table was a little smoke and mirrors early doors with City’s early defeat, knowing they had the capabilities to push up from a few wins put together.

Personally, I used to like these awards and the way they were presented decades ago when I liked the way things felt out of the Sport. There was more of a feeling of Prestige and a Proper Presentation. Now, I don’t know even in the world of the Internet.

A trophy is a trophy recognition is or should be merited to the club achieving it and the manager guiding their team to glory.

Pep I’m sure will and should receive an award. Sean’s right on the League Recognition.

It’s a 38 game challenge and as we’ve seen a long with so many if buts and maybes played out, there’s no room for any margin of error.

Brian, I agree with your sentiments regarding the spending. I think sometimes people are dismissive or overlook the point of making these individuals gel into the team and coach them, both technically and mentally.

Pep is quality I never dispute that. Maybe I or we as fans might have taken City’s Title win for granted and a ‘given’ from the start because of what’s already been achieved consistently so far.

The other teams in my eyes are not up to those levels largely because of the lack of continuity that’s compounded by Managerial changes and player; more in frequency so this breaks the mold. It’s an interesting correlation of this observation to the example of Tottenham and Son and Kane from how long they’ve played together and the value they add to their respective Team.

Bit sceptic about these accolades. I agree on one hand about recognition shown for achievements. I think the Brentford Manager should get a mention for sure. Eddie Howe I agree with. Looks like the seeds are slowly being planted since Ashley left and the club has changed ownership.

I question with Pep in what he inherited and did he really need to put in a great deal to achieve when he has financial backing and essentially, spending power to what ever he chooses? I give him the recognition he deserves on the other hand for consistently delivering Titles more than one. I am contradicting myself.

Lots of vitriol read elsewhere online on various mediums. Surprise surprise. Wolves fans making a mockery on the pitch after Man City finding their way.

At least over the last few years, we’ve made a contest of this. Otherwise (non City fans), you want your wish, it’ll be a league with total City dominance. Is that what you want? Name me a team that’s challenged City scoring over 90 points? Exactly!

If we are discussing M O T Y, then what does that say about a Manager guiding his team to 3 finals with 2 trophies already won?

Bring into this the subject of Europe, I read and hear about this all the time that League comes first, bread and butter and all the rest of it which is true, yet throughout the season, teams are aspiring to finish in the champions league or europa/conference etc.

The next quest to conquer beyond domestic has always been europe. Incidentally, Klopp’s achieved the ‘full set’. From our point of view, teams outside Liverpool know about our history and know how much we want the League Title in the current climate to match United’s record.

The best one of these final days to this day as a fan is still the Blackburn-United race and Kenny was Blackburn manager. No Mobile Phones as such that time let alone any whatsapp messages. It was pocket radios. What a wonderful world to live in back then.

Somebody either got it wrong or trolled a gag that Villa had found the 3rd. Liverpool left it too late to get the second and we should have gone gung-ho 4-2-4. I think we lack a dimension in midfield drive through the center channel of the pitch and be able to fire shots – where is that guy?

I’m sure there would have been some quarters in the Ethiad nervous, especially at 2-0 down. Villa played a blinder up until the 75 after the subs were made. This combined with City’s subs turned the scoreline on its head. Villa capitulated. Tyrone Mings is one of the worst defenders.

Suddenly, those nerves were restored. We were never Top surprisingly on the Live Table yesterday; once again we conceded. May have been a different set of dynamics that would have transmitted had we be leading comfortably. Fair play to be fair to both Wolves and Villa who had nothing to play for but made a game of it and were professional.

I’ve seen and read about this elsewhere online a few days ago Blueson.

It doesn’t alter the fact that Liverpool have won this season 2 trophies. They factually are listed as honours and yes, won on Penalties.

Penalties is not a new Phenomena. England have lost on Penalties in the World Cup and The Euros, Semi Finals. What would Merson be saying then?

Onto the hindsight of ifs, buts and maybes, we failed to take 3 points off City home and away. Also:

    Spurs
    Chelsea

I had belief when Coutinho scored yesterday and we should have found the net earlier. Incidentally, anybody else notice our last 3 league matches prior to Wolves have seen us fall behind; Spurs, Villa, Saints. Spurs was too late for us to turn around.

But even unravelling all these what could have been, we still finished with only 1 point and we were very close. No team has even reached what we have in the 90 point mark. It’s a killer blow as in the last 3 years, we could have won one more Title.

Always hurts not being able to celebrate because of Covid19. We need a powerhouse midfielder this summer. Somebody no-nonsense with drive from the middle and will get us out of a hole. Milner is getting on and so is Hendo. We’re too predictable at times using the wings either side.

We have to try and get the job done Saturday, but even so, once the dust settles, we’ll feel more Thankful than what could have been.

Warro, you never change man. What ever your guise. Look at your team first. 30 points plus, behind Man City and Liverpool; lost to Palace and yet your prime focus is on Liverpool. Lol bitterness.
