I’m team Adlab with the discussion on formations/set up versus France. I recognize the possible reasons as to why the idea of a back 5 has been thought of. That would be though typical of Southgate to be more defensive and cautious.
It’s not something I would go with. Instead, approach the game with courage and be bold.
Our previous generation teams before the late 00s at the very least played with spirit and heart. We need that more than something that’s monotonous and reliant on just one particular area of the field to pluck out some magic or a slice of luck. The onus is on us to ‘make it happen’!!!!

Haha, Keane is just a typical grumpy old man and a killjoy. Why shouldn’t the Brazilian players have a dance? It brings out the fun and a ‘holiday on the beach’ feel to the tournament. It’s winter.
Most of us live typical mundane lives being filled with pessimism from the British Media and the constant worry on the cost of living. This world cup has admittedly grew with more interest and excitement. We’re growing into those latter crucial stages, then soon it will be over. Keano my friend: Lighten Up!!!!!

The more I think about it, the more I reckon if we’re going to go 3 at the back and wingbacks to counter M’Bappe, we’d be better off with Walker at RWB and a back three of Stones, Dier, Maguire…
Having Trippier as RWB and Walker at the back won’t work, Trippier’s legs have gone, M’Bappe will skin him alive and Trippier will be in Yellow Card/Red Card territory before half-time… be better with Walker (and a lot of lectures about not diving in…)
