Here we go again. Hopefully we can exact revenge for last night although it was all our undoing. It usually is.
The last time we played Wolves in the FA Cup was in the 3rd round back in 22/23 which needed a replay after drawing 2-2 away. Elliott getting the winner at Anfield. We didn’t progress much further that season as Brighton dumped us out in the next round.
Despite that game, Wolves have a decent recent (poet and don’t know it) record against us in this competition winning 2-1 in the 4th round at Molineux in 2019 and then again in the 4th round two years prior but this time at Anfield. Mixed bag with just one win in our previous four recent FA cup games. Doesn’t bode well does it?
Who will start?
Mama, Gomez, Konate, VVD, Robbo, Mac, Jones, Szobo, Rio, Chiesa and Salah. Kerkez rested, Grav, Ekitike and Gakpo fuckin pants last night so they’re on the bench.
Could go either way. Going with the omen of getting twatted in the league here four years ago but winning the FA cup match (which, coincidentally was super close to each other too being two weeks apart).
Wolves 0 Liverpool 1 in another arduous watch (but would be the least surprised fan on earth if they turned us over again).

5th March 2026 at 11:14 am #240863We simply can’t fuck it up this time.
Time to get our winning mentality TOTALLY back on track, and quickly, no excuses. We have to focus on qualifying for the CL, and then go all out to try and win at least one of the CL and FA Cup.
And a few changes are in order tonight, so the incoming players must take the chance they’ve been given.

Frimpong KonatΓ© Van Dijk Robbo
Gravenberch Jones
Salah Szoboszlai Ngumoha

5th March 2026 at 11:17 am #240867Great news, our talisman Wirtz is back, so hope he’ll come off the bench tomorrow, and hopefully to a good result.

5th March 2026 at 11:49 am #240878Wolves rested players the other night in prep for this game.
This game is their higher priority of the 2 so we should expect a game tomorrow night.
After their win they will be buoyed and their fans will be up for it.
We, on the other hand, have added unnecessary pressure on to this game by not doing the business on Tue night.
This is our lowest priority and with the slim squad we have and Slots reluctance to use several squad players in the league/CL I expect changes to the team for this game.
Some players need a rest for this run in like Ekitike and there is gonna be less opportunity to do so as the weeks go on.To be honest, the last thing we need here is extra time and penos.

5th March 2026 at 12:06 pm #240883Correct about Ekitike, as he’s been perhaps a bit overused, while still adapting to a new league, country and language. Chiesa could start instead at No. 9 (or maybe Gakpo), but he just doesn’t seem to have much impact when he starts, in stark contrast to the much bigger impact he has when he comes off the bench.
I’d start Rio though, this will be a good test to see if he can produce in a game right from the start, and not just from the bench, a bit like Chiesa also.

5th March 2026 at 1:13 pm #240895IΒ΄d rather see Gakpo up top than out wide, he is so ineffective out wide but him and Ekitike are over worked by now. When was the last time either one got dropped, I donΒ΄t wanna get into a rant about either one, I just wanna see Rio start!
We barely had a XG over 0.6 against them in our last match, I think Rio was responsible for at least 0.4 of that XG.
If Slot persists with the same lineup in our next game, then nothing is gonna chance that lineup until the end of the season. Not until he gets the sack!

5th March 2026 at 1:17 pm #240896You’re right Sean, yep, 2-2 at home then won 1-0 in the replay at their place.
Ginger, adding insult to injury there. Won with rested players! I need a lie down. What a truly awful result it was! Oh, lord.

5th March 2026 at 1:31 pm #240899I just saw another worrying stat about Macca, in his two first seasons he had about 75% and 76% ratio for his duals, this season it has dropped to 42%. Possession wise he clocked up 90%, then 84% and then finally 58%. The rest of his stats are the same except ball carries, he carries the ball a bit more but everything else has had a 30-40% drop off as well.

5th March 2026 at 1:37 pm #240900He has a hernia op last year which means he could nothing for 3mths then had to get his fitness, then match fitness.
Slot somehow seemed to ignore this and play him in midfield from virtually the start of the season, instead of giving him time to get back up to speed.
Slot also rushed back Isak which resulted in another injury.
Slots management of his squad and players has not been good._____________________________

5th March 2026 at 2:04 pm #240902Maybe itΒ΄s the hernia but I suspect Gravy has had a similar drop off, he has been playing poorly all season long. The one thing in common is Slot and his methods, there is a big difference between a midfield that wins about 75% of their duals and forty something %. Like there is no chance in hell we win a trophy when the midfield is performing like that.

5th March 2026 at 2:30 pm #240904Macca is slow on everything he does. Extra touch in the ball all the time. Continuously played. Slots handling of the squad has been terrible.
He said last seasin he should have used endo more then plays him less then last season. Hes really doing my head in
Anyone who thinks we are suddenly going to start playing great fast football is for the birds up in the sky
I was wondering why nunber 14 for wolves didnt start?

5th March 2026 at 2:41 pm #240907Sean, hence my earlier post of ‘it ain’t gonna change until May’ with equal reliance on other teams cocking things up and our results.
The whole thing is a mess.

5th March 2026 at 2:46 pm #240908If the players felt the despair and frustration as much as we did Tuesday Night, there is no way on the Planet we will finish Friday Night with a Defeat. We will be fired up for this and we need to be.
Alisson I think needs a bit of a cool of but I’m not too hopeful of Marmadashvilli. Is I want Jaros back with us.
Anyhow though, let’s give the guy a chance. We’ll need to the 11 around sure. We just cannot be put out there for yet another humiliation. If that happens, Slot has to take full responsibility and resign.

5th March 2026 at 4:53 pm #240919IΒ΄ll say this, Alison, Robbo, Van Dijk, Konate and Gomez equals a clean sheet, they will not make a fuck up in the middle of the match or concede from a set piece. That should be the foundation for every game until the end of the season as itΒ΄s not likely that Frimpong will be fit this season.

5th March 2026 at 8:11 pm #240923Bingo you could have the back line of 1990 AC Milan and you’d still conceed if you have no midfield protection like what our midfield provides.
