I just don’t see that Gerrard is experienced enough as yet for the EPL unless the club is happy for staying in the league. Of course I could be completely wrong and Villa win the league. Ranieri did it with Leicester.
Time will tell. But if you ask me could he, at this point in time could he replace Pep or Klopp then absolutely no. Ole maybe…!

What could have crossed Gerrards mind was that Pep and Klopp will not be around in a couple of seasons, anyway, I hope he gives it a go and lets see what happens, it is not up to us to speculate if he fails without giving him a day.Not long ago many were saying Arteta was useless, different story now. I also think Utd should get Dyche as Manager, he would put a big foot behind them!!!! Although, Dyche would turn them down on the basis of not paying attention and living in the past

I can only imagine the United fans reaction to the appointment of Dyche as Manager of United Brian.😊

I suspect it wouldn’t be far from positive.

“Scholes is a better toe nail muncher manger…”

I tell you what, Scholes would be better than Ole. At least he knew that they were in trouble, heading into our game.

As for Gerrard, this is one hell of a task for him. Let’s hope that he gets enough points off new manager bounce to set him up to avoid relegation and that the dip after it doesnt send them down.

I really hope that with this deal, Villa will spend in January for him, as I think they’ll need it. Not saying the squad they have is rubbish but they’ve got to do more to remain in the PL and although they might be settled as a team by the time the season ends, you’d wanna make sure they are not in the bottom 3 when that happens πŸ˜›

Going to be an interesting January window with both Newcastle and Villa desperate for signings to get them away from the relegation zone in a window which is historically difficult for getting in the players you really want.

Re Scholes not sure about that Mak. Scholes has said more than the once recently that United’s defence is better than Chelsea’s.😊

Totally understand how Wellard Gerrard’s name gets mentioned with succeeding Kloop, naturally, there is a history there and we all know he’ll have then fans on his side from day one… but putting him on the list to succeed Pepe at Money City, I’ll have some of what everybody else is smoking!!

Dean smith did a great jog at villa. He’s got a real raw deal at villa. Disgraceful sacking

5 consecutive defeats and a poor points return since last season did it for Dean Smith Sean.

Unfortunately the combination of this international break combined with the January transfer window make it the best time to make a managerial change.

The owners have invested an enormous amount of money into Villa thy were never going to just sit on their hands as cruel as that may be.

As Ed has said, I think if Viera continues to do well, City may well eye him to take over from Pep.

Ah he deserved more time to turn it around in my opinion nine but I know he wasntb going to get that. He brought villa up, kept them in the league for two seasons, got to a cup final and lost their best player. Thought he did a great job but I get what you says he was doomed to be honest after 5 defeats. It is cruel as proper villa man etc but your points are spot on

I think Utd will appoint an experienced person, Mancini, pelligrini, could even be on the list but then again they just may turn to Rooney. I do not see Scloles as a top flight manager, Rooney, I do, always liked him as a player but not as a person because he always gave 100% and I believe knows the game well enough to make it….with a good assistant

Sean…I mentioned 4 years ago that Vierra was a likely candidate because of the apprenticeship City put him through, however, he has yet to make it at Palace, it will be interesting how the rest of the season goes on. He will certainly be on the short list of three though

Interesting choices Brian hand on heart though when and if it finally comes to the time for United to say good-bye to Ollie I would be suprised if any of those names will be on the United short list.

                                      But stranger things have happened.😊

Gerrard is clearly ambitious, the question is whether his ambition is running ahead of his current capabilities. Time will tell.

I think this is both the perfect club and timing for Gerrard to make this move. The expectations will be to finish mid-table, which with that squad should be very achievable. From there he will have the summer to make the changes he wants and hopefully build further.

This is of course just a nursery for him to be the long-term Klopp replacement. A far better approach to management development than Arteta, Ole and Frankie had before taking huge roles they were never qualified for nor prepared for.
