Really is a great coup for Spurs. I fear them now more than ever. The only plus for my boys is that it may force them into action if Spurs become a real threat to our own top 4 challenge.

This is what I said re rumours of conte in summer

“Nine I won’t believe conte to spurs until I see it. Like you I feel it is a marriage made in hell if it happens because all evidence to date under levy suggests conte will not get anywhere near what is required to compete, and if conte can’t compete conte will go crazy, as sure as night turns to day.

Give him a top starting 11 and allow him to dismiss the euro conference league though and he can certainly get spurs top 4 if they have a good eleven that can play week in week out. They will be a nightmare to play under conte that’s for sure”

Completely stand by that but what has changed that has led to conte apparently changing his mind?

Sky reporting it’s an 18 month contract for Conte?

You would think Spurs have had to bow to Conte’s demands re squad changes and transfer expenditure this time, it would need to go a bit beyond 18 months to give it a real chance of working but hey that’s how Chelsea started out with Tuchel and it hasn’t worked out too badly.😊

One things for sure if Conte pitches up at Spurs one way or the other he will wake Harry Kane up for sure.

Something’s changed Lucky and it can only be that Spurs have agreed to let Conte reshape the squad the way he wants it and to back him in the transfer market.

But Conte is so volatile and Levy so stubborn it’s difficult to see them not falling out on a regular basis.

It will make the race for the top 4 even more interesting.

I could hear Ole’s sigh of relief from here.😊

Well Nine given length of contract a return to champs league would be job well done for spurs and conte I would think 🤔

Be funny as hell if spurs finish top 4 and above ole’s utd 😀 ole could make it difficult for us and city playing on counter like he did against spurs but he not beating the smaller teams week in week out playing like that it takes far more tactical nous to coach a team to win against all teams playing 3 at back, ie tuchel and conte.

I seem to recall amongst the cyber-wrappings from the summer one of Conte’s “demands” was that Sir Harry doesn’t go anywhere and Don Levy couldn’t/wouldn’t 100% guarantee it (as we all know, it was a “150 and he’s yours!” situation… and we know how that ended!).

Anyway, won’t believe a word of it until I see him holding up the shirt and proclaiming that it was always a dream of his to manage the mighty Spuds…

But absolutely think there’s going to be some fireworks (and not the Katy Perry type!)… and I think more than a couple of the players need it too!

Still think our 1st 11 is good enough for Top4 this year with the right attitude (and a bit of luck with injuries!)

Making sense now. 18 month contract means conte not expecting to win league (at some point) and that’s what has changed meaning he doesn’t need as much backing.
Looks as though spurs see him as a the man to get them back in champs league and he sees them as short term project until title challenging team comes calling?

Fair amount of suppositions there Lucky. 😊

Personally I think Conte will want to build a team to try and challenge for the title next season but I’m sure he’s also realistic enough to know Spurs can only spend what they can afford to spend and he will need to cut his coat according to his cloth but I still think he will be looking for significant backing in the transfer market particularly in the Summer because January is a very difficult window to sign the players you really want.

Let’s be blunt, unless he’s going back to Chelski or taking over from Pepe, Conte isn’t going to win a title with any other Pommie club, is he? Klopp isn’t going anywhere soon, and when he does, LiVARberoOol are going to need a huge wedge of cash to replace what will be a team on it’s last legs… and I think we all know that isn’t going to happen either.

Don’t forget that supposed 18 months will finish the same time Nuno’s 2 years was supposed to finish, and that coincides with when Poncho’s stint at PSG comes to an end…
