It’s hard not to compare to other ‘competitors’ but I believe our signings will make our team better than last season. Joao Pedro & Delap are of different class than Jackson. Moreover, they are already familiar with Premier League. Andrey Santos looks really good so far; he offers different qualities than Caicedo. For me, he is “between” Caicedo and Enzo. Estevao has enormous potential. I am convinced that he won’t become Mudryk part II. His technique is excellent and he looks more mature on the field than his age. Gittens I am not sure though.

Agree, Aindro. Our signings do improve us.

That’s more important than calculating the fees for incoming/outgoing players.

Whatever happens, the squad should be improving as we tiptoe around the PSR rules. We’re ahead of the curve in doing so compared to other teams.

And we just sold Renato Veiga for a nice profit. I hope that with all these sales, we would not be bothered anymore with the PSR or any potential violation of FIFA or UEFA financial rules. But that’s up to the big potatoes in the club how they manage the money and how to do their accounting. If with all these sales we still need to tiptoe the PSR rules: something must be very wrong.

I also wouldn’t be so surprised anymore if we manage to sell one of Jackson or Nkunku. They are quite good players and I can see they become a success elsewhere. I doubt both will happen during the next 11 days but one of those players sold: it would help more our financial situation. Jackson’s would bring a hefty profit, Nkunku’s would bring a significant reduction to our salary burden as he is one of biggest earners.

Unfortunately, we haven’t heard much about Chilwell, Sterling, although it seems that there are suitors for Disasi. Those 3 are high earners, those 3 are the priority in our bomb squad.

as I stated in the other thread, I think that we should not sell Jackson. We get already a lot of money from transfers out as we would have Chukwuemeka sold this week for 25m Euros to Dortmund. (Together with the loan of Anselmino). I want us to still be able to play 2 strikers in case Delap gets injured.

The players we need to move to generate even more money: Nkunku & Disasi. I have big hope that we will be able to sell them. They aren’t bad players. With only one week remaining, I cannot be optimistic that we can sell or loan out Sterling or Chilwell. I think they will stay in our bomb squad and do like Bogarde before.

Joao Pedro, Delap and Estevao so far are looking quality. The same cannot be said for Gittens, he may not be bad, but he had very minimal impact since the pre-season. It’s a bit disappointing to me considering that he is English and he knows Premier League even though he’d developed in Germany. The addition of Garnacho may help us with the creativity and creating chances.

So my opinion for this remaining week of summer transfers:

            • as always try to sell or to loan out players in the bomb squad.
            • try to sell Nkunku and/or Disasi to acquire the fund to buy Garnacho.
            • refrain of buying Xavi Simmons, we don’t need him.

              Latest news:

              • Chukwuemeka sold to Dortmund.

              Rumours:

              • Jackson to Bayern on loan with an obligation to buy.
              • Chelsea submitted a bid of 50m Euro for Fermin Lopez of Barcelona.

If the bid for Lopez is accepted, I guess we won’t buy Garnacho nor Xavi Simons.

Fabrizio Romano seems adamant that Garnacho will go ahead with all parties confident the deal will get done.

There seems to be news that Tyrique George will go to Roma on a permanent deal with a big sell-on clause – that would be booked as pure profit as he’s an academy player. It’s also looking like Disasi will go to Bournemouthm so it does make additional signings possible.

Nkunku news has gone a bit quiet, and naturally nothing seems to be happening with Chilwell or Sterling. Not even a loan with some wages covered….

It’s a bit annoying to see City buy Donnarumma who is a far better keeper than Sanchez. Sanchez will cost us points, and if Penders doesn’t turn out to be the next Courtois then we will have suffered another 2 seasons with a poor keeper.

Ed, we can’t afford Donnarumma’s salary. He earns 240k Euros per week at PSG. He may be a world class GK, but we can’t afford him. I would prefer us to stick with Penders’s gamble. He already kept 2 clean sheets with RC Strasbourg.

So Garnacho is done, and Simons is off to Spurs it seems. I don’t think we needed both, and Garnacho’s experience in the Prem gives him the edge for me. RB Leipzig players haven’t always done well coming to the Prem, especially the forwards.

                    Nkunku is off to Milan.

I expect Disasi, George, Jackson to leave in this window too. David Datro Fofana possibly as well.

Chiwell & Sterling seem a lost cause.

Given the above, there definitely seems to be cash for another signing but not sure who, and also not sure why the board won’t accede to Maresca’s request for a new CB in light of Colwill’s injury.

Simons may become a hit at Spurs, but I cannot care. We don’t need him. We already have Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer, Estevao who can play no:10 or behind the striker.

Jackson on-loan to Bayern, I don’t understand why. If we sell him, it should be for a permanent transfer to bring money in. Otherwise why bother. He can be useful in case of injuries.

I have a hope that Disasi will find a buyer. But Sterling, Chilwell, I think they don’t care being in the bomb squad.

I read somewhere that we may not register new players for the Champions League unless we post a positive balance for this summer transfer. Is it true? Because it’s concerning as we may be in the positive now as from the sale of Chukwuemeka (and Gilchrist), and very likely Nkunku, but with Garnacho coming in: we will be in the negative again.

I see besides Garnacho they still trying for Fermin whose way too expensive and Bounanotte coming in on loan. Where and when exactly are all these players going to get game time. Hope they know what they doing.

Sometimes I wonder if we couldn’t do a better job. How exactly are you going to keep all these players sharp and happy. Also if the SD’S are doing such a great job why are we being punished with huge fines and restrictions. I also question the huge money we paid for some these guys. Gittens is one example, hard to believe his an upgrade on Madueka or even suited to the EPL. Was Hato even necessary when we have Josh and others. Apparently his only played left back twice in his professional career. Anyway we live in hope. Want be too surprised if we dont get 3 points today, Fulham are a tough team.

I have to say, the club’s handling of the Jackson saga has been disastrous. First, they told him to find a new club and froze him out of the team. Then, when he finally secures a team that wants him, they ask him to return? That is completely wrong. Even if he comes back, will he be happy playing for Chelsea again?

I don’t understand why we discard players as soon as they’re no longer needed. This happened with Chalobah, Nkunku, Chilwell, and Sterling—the list goes on. Players notice this behavior and may be hesitant to join Chelsea in the future. We need to be careful about how we handle our players.

It is a difficult situation with Jackson as Delap got injured today. He surely won’t be happy to have to go back to Chelsea. But I read that this was Maresca’s decision as we are thinking in striking department as Delap is out for 6-8 weeks.

The transfer market has now closed. All in all, I think we have done all right. We were not able to call Jackson back but at least Guiu is back, recalled from Sunderland. Where he did not start anyway. Tyrique George was a sub who later on got subbed, not good. I am not surprised he left. And for the no:10, Buenanotte loan from Brighton. He is surely no Fermin Lopez or Xavi Simons. But 20 years old with Premier League experience, not so bad.

Aindro – apparently the George transfer fell through because Fulham couldn’t move one of their players on (Wilson).

Not sure what to make of the window – we’ve improved the overall quality but we are without a senior striker up front for a couple of months which could easily derail the start of the season. I’m not optimistic because with the current players available it’s going to be the same old pass up the flanks, get doubled/tripled up, no one to cross to, so pass back to the central defenders. And repeat.

We can’t say we are without senior striker as Joao Pedro is certainly one. He plays no:10 recently but he was recruited to play no:9. Guiu will provide a backup for him. Even if Maresca wants to play Pedro as no:10, Guiu can start as no:9. He deserves to get opportunities

Our summer transfer window was a mixed bag, marked by both commendable and questionable decisions. On the positive side, the club successfully offloaded several players, generating decent profits in the process. However, it’s worth noting that many of these departures involved players who arguably should never have been signed in the first place. From the outset of the summer, the needs of the squad were clear, an experienced clinical striker, a reliable and seasoned centre back, and a top quality goalkeeper. Unfortunately, the recruitment did not align with those priorities. While two forwards were brought in, both lack the proven pedigree to guarantee immediate impact at the highest level. Delap is already sidelined through injury, while Pedro remains promising but unproven at the highest level. So far, he’s showing great return, long may it continue. Defensively, the lack of reinforcements is particularly concerning, especially following Colwill’s injury. The club’s continued reliance on Sánchez in goal, despite his inconsistent performances last season, further highlights a lack of decisive action in a key area especially when world class keepers were available ( Magnon, Donnarumma, Adeson )
There was also confusion surrounding the situation with Xavi Simons. After reports that personal terms had been agreed in July, and with the player allegedly awaiting a call even after undergoing a medical at Spurs, fans were led to believe a deal was imminent. While one could argue that Simons wasn’t a priority signing, the way the situation was handled was disappointing for the player and for supporters who were sold on his potential arrival.
So, how do you rate/grade the summer window?
In my opinion, the club’s transfer dealings can be assessed as follows:
Outgoing: B The sales were generally effective and financially beneficial. Had the likes of Sterling, Disasi, and David Fofana also been moved on, this could have been rated as high as an A-.
Incomings: C Many of the signings such as Gittens and Hato are raw talents with long-term potential but are unlikely to contribute meaningfully in the immediate term. Garnacho’s impact remains to be seen, while Pedro has shown promise. Buonanotte’s acquisition raises questions, particularly considering the club likely has fourth choice attacking options within its academy setup. Ultimately, while the strategy may be aimed at long term development, the failure to address key areas of need may prove costly in the short term.

Zizi great post summed up perfectly. Personally i feel we going to battle for that 4th position, cant blame the coaching staff they can only do their best with whats available. Pedro is not an out and out striker and Delap is out injured long term already. There’s noone else that has that kind of quality. All our keepers are suspect and centre halves remain to be seen how they will do. So i think it was a very average window especially if you see what other clubs have brought in.
