Notorious, Barcola is a good winger, but he’s not a game changer like Mané, Salah or Díaz. He just doesn’t have that star quality (yet).

That’s why he’s not a regular starter at PSG, and that’s why Désiré Doué, starts before him in most big games, like the CL finals.

And that’s why I wouldn’t pay more than £80m for him.

look at the difference in minutes in the Champions League, I´ll bet Barcola almost has half the minutes Munoz got in total just in the Champions League or a European Competition. Don´t get me wrong I quite like Munoz but to compare the two is very foolish, Barcola has already proved how good he is, Munoz has shown glimpses of how good he can be.

One has one trophy with 13 minutes played, the other 12 trophies won with a bit more minutes played.

Desire is home grown by club, it makes a difference, Barcola is the better winger of him and Cherki who you admire. Who got brought up in the same academy, Barcola has always been the bigger player. FYI experience matters when it comes to prices, I don´t know why but it is always calculated in there.

Who do you base that 80 million price on, is it Jack Grealish to City, that happened a long time ago, we are living in the moment where the next generation of english midfielder cost between 100-130 million, it pretty obvious that a forward would go for a bit more.

It´s still the same % as from when Shearer or Nigel Clough broke the transfer record. You should know that as a accountant.

Bingo, I do want to believe your ideal with Barcola should he choose to join us. I feel we definitely need experience certainly as squad players, a new defensive midfielder and a central defender.

Get this part sorted and we’ve got something at least as a starting 11, SOLID.

Salah and mane were not elite players when they signed. Mane was as raw as barcola when he joined. Good coaching turned mane and salah into world class players. I remember many pn here not convinced on us signing either.

Isrola seems to improve players as seen with semanyo, scott to name but a few

I agree barcola is only worth about 80m but the transfer prices are inflated and other clubs will use rogers and andersons fees as leverage. Rodgers is no way worth 117m

I like barcola but he still doesnt fix our problem on the right and as people have said, there is not much out there

We have no idea if munioz is abargain. No one even knew he was until he was linked with Newcastle

All true on Salah and Mane, but they had something inside them that was unlocked. You have do have a certain degree of ability and the right person to be able to get the real best out of you.

It’s the importance of others too; Henderson, Fabinho, the back 4, Gini, Divock Origi, Adam Lallana, Oxlaid Chamberlain, all of this. Allison, Van Dijk, Fabinho and Mane were the Nucleus.

Sean we are a much bigger club than back then, we need to pay premium prices for our targets, unlike other clubs we actually believe in our targets. We are putting our faith in Gravy for the next 6 years, so with Isak, Wirtz and Barcola. They are the new side and will find a way to play, I´m not worried about it, every other poster here wonders about how they will feature in a lineup. I´m just looking forward to it.

Rio is of an age where he has time to learn playing on the right, so there’s no reason why he can’t feature there this season. But he’s still a kid who cannot defend at all, so he shouldn’t be a first team player. Sub on when the opposition are tired etc, keep his progression going but if he’s our main right wing answer then we’ve truly ballsed up.

Read a piece on Iraola using left footers on the left and vice versa on the right. This has the advantage that they naturally give more width and so don’t overcrowd the penalty box area. And that he often switches the wide players in game to keep the opposition guessing.
