Been just over a year since that crazy smash and grab in Paris courtesy of Elliott’s 87th minute winner.
70% and 52% possession in the two last 16 legs last season for PSG with just four shots on target for us over the 210 minutes for us and I expect something similar again in these quarter final games.
PSG current four points clear of second placed Lens but with a game in hand. They have slipped up though a few times at home this season and definitely beatable, but can we expect us to beat them after recent showings?….a definite NO but we have shown in the odd game this season that we can raise our game and compete with elite teams out there.
Who will start? Has to be one or two changes for me.
Mama, Frimpong, Konate, VVD, Robbo, Mac, Grav, Szobo, Gakpo, Ekitike and Mo is my pick.
If I had my way Mo would be on the bench without hesitation and the fact that he did absolutely tap all in these games last season with Mendez sticking him in his pocket over both legs. Gomez can’t start two consecutive games, which is a shame, as I’d start him and put Frimpong in Mo’s spot. I suspect Gakpo will start this with being on the bench over the weekend. Looking for BIG games from us all. Konate has reverted to type after an impressive short stretch, VVD has been all the shop, Grav brutally non dynamic, Szobo went hiding against City, Ekitike hot and cold (2 goals in 2 months maintaining my Jota comparison with Hugo) and Mo a half decent show but has scored in a third of his games this year (5 in 15).
My own personal line-up (if Gomez could start) would be:
Mama
Gomez Konate VVD Robbo
Mac Szobo
Frimpong Wirtz Rio
Ekitike….but it ain’t happening.HOME WIN without a doubt.

6th April 2026 at 7:18 pm #243159PSG also had a league match postponed for this very game, I expect them to batter us 4-0. It might even be 5-0 or worse. That’s how optimistic I feel about this match.
I also see us drawing against Fulham just for the season finale of Slot actually getting sacked.

6th April 2026 at 9:29 pm #243165I’m going to go with 5/6-0 just by Nature in week-by-week of Following.
Weirdly, I don’t know why, but actually do feel like in a routine in actually wanting to look forward with excitement. I just know though having expressed this, we’ll probably start off and play really well being filled with Confidence, then something UNEXPECTED takes shape and BANG Collapse.
I think this is what will happen. What is the now way to Describe and Illustrate; Probably Jenga or Dominos…..Yikes!!

Mo might have had a bad game no doubt, but he was still available in dangerous areas, the chance he made was with a well timed run to get behind the man city defence. He had chances, cus he knows how to be in the right place at the right time. Heres hoping he puts away what he gets… players have been rested (gakpo, mac and frimpong). If we start the way we did in against city and cut out the mistakes we have a chance.

7th April 2026 at 2:25 pm #243186They had about 70% possession and we got lucky last time, Mamardashvili is not comfortable with the ball at this feet so our distribution will not be up there. Probably the biggest game of Kerkez short career so far so he will be a bag of nerves, Van Dijk might be up for this and could pop up with a goal from a corner, I also expect Konate to be on it until we concede and then for Chiesa to be thrown on for him around the 75th min. We will probably not have a rightback so that is gonna backfire on us, or Gomez starts and needs to leave around the 60th minute and then Szoboslzai or Jones will play out the rest of the game and it backfires on us. There will be no defensive midfielder, Gravenberch will play in a advanced position, we have little protection for the back four. Then Mac and we don´t really know because of the rightback issue. Then I can see Ekitike, Wirtz and Salah again upfront. I should really put a bet on PSG to win by 3+ goals

7th April 2026 at 2:54 pm #243187In this exact same game last year albeit one round earlier in the CL we were running away with the league, full of confidence and playing good football.
This year the team is devoid of confidence, fight, intensity and it’s gotten worse as the season went on.
Allison had arguably his best ever performance for us in this game last year.
Now we have Marma, who I believe is a very good shot stopper, but he’s no Allison. This is not gonna end well. Really hope I’m wrong.

7th April 2026 at 3:18 pm #243188Ginger – agree with you on recent experience.
Although with this team they have it within themselves to do the hard work away and screw it up back at Anfield, like last year. No idea who will be picked but more confident about the result unfortunately.

7th April 2026 at 4:32 pm #243189If you pitch the video around 10:40, this is actually the formation I’d go with propositioning as 2 Strikers and a Number 6 to protect the back 4.
Basically a 4-4-2 Diamond.

7th April 2026 at 6:45 pm #243190I think the season could effectively come to an end this weekend.
A heavy defeat tomorrow will kill any confidence that is left in the team.
Then we face Fulham who are one of our bogey teams and fully expect them to trouble us especially if we lose as expected tomorrow.
The only thing in our favour is Brentford play Everton, and Chelsea face city.
So we might still be 5th, after the weekends results!!
It’s a sad state of affairs that we’re clinging onto 5th place.
Will slot survive if we have 2 bad results? I mean he’s had more lives than a cat this season…🤷♂️

7th April 2026 at 7:34 pm #243191Anything like 3 goals plus in favour of PSG will be a tall order. If Alisson was at least available and we had Strikers available in form, I’d be filled with more hope for a comeback.
Our goals have dried up. Our league form is not great and we’re only 5 points ahead of Fulham who are 9th place. Whether we can dust ourselves down and pick ourselves straight back up at Anfield, Fulham themselves will have ideas of their own and try and take advantage of our current plight.
The only real hope for us is a 0-0 or a 1-0 narrow defeat ala Tomorrow. Not a great Crystal Ball I know!!

7th April 2026 at 8:23 pm #243192red, like I’ve mentioned before, because of the distrustful nature of this team, we are now wholly reliant on other teams cocking things up as we are zero percent reliable.

7th April 2026 at 8:50 pm #243194Rob thus the Negative Nelly attitude for example in me and a lot of my comments. I recognize readers looking for positivity asking themselves “why the negativity”, but you are right with the point of trust and reliability.
We’d be building our hopes only for them to be struck down. Over to the players in essence to change our perceptions.

7th April 2026 at 8:58 pm #243195we have not scored a goal in the first half for what 25 games or some absurd stat. I would have expected the team to show up like they did last season but I can´t, sure it was not the best result but we have had many close encounters over the years and they turned into the eventual champions. I honestly think we were the 2nd best team in Europe last season and they have this nasty habit of having games postponed when facing us or another Champions League team to get extra time to focus on the result over two games, we don´t have that going for us. I expect us to lose every 3 duals out of 10, I´m afraid it will be every 2 duals out of 10.
We used to destroy some teams when they got a 1-1 draw against us, just because of intensity, even if a team got a result against us it used to hurt them. Like they used to lose 2-3 players to injuries and maybe 1-2 to match bans. I remember one particular game against Utd where I think they got a draw against us and put a significant dent in our title hopes when Solskjear was there but he destroyed there whole season against us, they went limping and he got the sack.
We put half their lineup into the ER that night, we used to do that to Champions League teams as well, I don´t see it happening tomorrow. Quite the opposite…

7th April 2026 at 9:20 pm #243197Once again, the players have to take a cold, hard look at themselves, after the disaster at City.
Tomorrow night I want to see fight, passion and hunger from EVERY single Liverpool player, from start to finish. And no repeat of the usual self-sabotage or silly mistakes.
Diaz and Nuñez, for example, had real fighting spirit and that’s what we’re sorely missing this season.
And Virgil Van Dijk – as captain he has to be far more aggressive, calling out teammates who are messing up. Plus, other players have to confront teammates who are not pulling their weight- like how Milner, Carra, and even Robbo, used to.
I don’t care if it’s PSG, we have to go here believing we can win, otherwise why turn up?
Now let’s do it.
Mamardashvili
Frimpong Konaté Van Dijk Kerkez
Gravenberch Mac Allister
Salah Szoboszlai Wirtz
Ekitike-

7th April 2026 at 11:11 pm #243202Bayern remain my favorites for old big ears, they do not have any faults this season. One of the most complete sides I’ve seen in recent years.
Barcelona also look good, Flick has the highest win ratio of anyone and I reckon those are the two best sides this season.

8th April 2026 at 5:56 am #243203Didn’t see the game but read Bayern ran 10km more than Madrid and achieved a great result.
Even in this day and age of corners and long throws (Arsenal), or tippy tappy sideways and back passing (us), running is still very important and something we went from the best to arguably the worst in the league.

8th April 2026 at 7:54 am #243204The hat was a great game and how football should be played. Munich do have flaws bingo. Upmacano is a liability and munich certainly can be got at. Neur was very busy last night
Many people hought we would be batterrd by arsenal in jan. i think it be same setup with 5 midfielders. Hoping for a similar display.
The team has taken a lot of stick since friday. Professional pride has to come into it. Prove peopke fucking wrong and show some bollix for a fight
