With regards to the Sterling yellow, I don’t see what anybody has to complain about. It’s been in the little black book for ages, players can’t jump in/celebrate with the crowd or do anything to excite them as, how can I put this, emotions are running high and silly things might happen (like crowds spilling onto the pitch, the game being delayed, and all sorts of other mayhem, like players arguing with stewards, accusations of fisticuffs etc…)
So what happened when Sterling ran over to the crowd again? As far as I can see it was a perfect example of why the rule is there in the first place!
Nothing to really discuss here I reckon!

Banjo, are you on a windup Lol? Let me ask you this why didn’t Daniel’s get a yellow card for running further towards the crowd and kicking the hoarding when he scored and why didn’t Dean book the other four or five City players who also ran over to celebrate with Sterling. You and I both know that behind the scenes the powers that be will tell Dean he was wrong to make that booking and a little secrete dictat will go out to all officials telling them not to repeat that and we won’t see another booking like that the rest of the season.

Big J (in da house)… didn’t see that so I can’t comment, but I would certainly agree their should be some consistency (if it helps I remember Ali G getting a yellow for doing it so it’s not like Sterling was the first person ever or anything). But, the nonsense that happened is exactly why the rule is there in the first place.
As for never seeing again this season? I’ll take that bet (Mars Bar/Sherbet Pips, you choose!)… but not Palace, they couldn’t score in a brothel this season!

Banjo, trust me it happened with Daniel’s in fact he went further than Sterling. But as it wasn’t an injury time winner and the Bmouth fans were more subdued and/or the stewards did their job. He didn’t get booked for arguably a more stirring celebration. Last week Rooney scores for Everton at the Etihad and immediately runs to the City fans and goades them. Strangely no card! By the way i dont think Rooney should have got a card for that as it’s part of the passion in the game but what he did was definitely more antagonistic than Sterling running to his own fans. Dean was pathetic the whole game to be honest. I used to think he was a good ref but not these days.

Good summary Jim. It will be interesting to see if Evans comes in to shore up that back line. I think he’s quite underrated, Evans. He’s probably not worth the money City are supposedly offering but it’s hard to attribute any logic to fees these days.
Looking forward to the City vs Liverpool game after the International break anyway!
