Oh yes for sure Bingo. Both those teams played low blocks against us and then exposed us on the counter. We’ve been a sucker.

29th August 2026 at 3:37 pm #254941Lots of improvement now with Jacquet. Would have continued to be worse if we stuck with Konate.

29th August 2026 at 4:31 pm #254946Going to be controversial and explain an opinion I have on the CB pairing. I know, we dont do that here, I should just say it is what it is because I say so and be done with it but I’d thought I’d try something new.
I like the look of Jacquet but he’s 21, a baby for CBs, he shouldn’t be starting yet. VvD has never been an aggressive defender, Konate had that role on their partnership. One is cover, one is a stopper. Konate on the front foot, VvD on the back. It seems Virgil is even less inclined to engage as he’s aged.
Jacquet just doesn’t seem aggressive enough, yet. Maybe a more aggressive CB would have taken ownership of their first goal situation and cleaned Jesus and MacAllister both out to head the ball away? I think Araujo should be the RCB and if his shortcomings are exposed in a game you sub him for Jacquet.
As said I like the French man, but he has a long time to develop into the great CB we hope he will become. I just think VvD/Araujo partnership looks better balanced.

29th August 2026 at 4:48 pm #254947Get your point 3ps and inclined to agree. If we don’t have somebody showing aggression like a Gabriel, we become a pushover for the opposition.
That was early VVD Versions. He’s declined for sure and coasting effectively rent free. I’ve possibly mentioned something controversial, haha but that’s what I think. With that in mind from an experience and a leadership point of view, both him and Alisson play a prominent part.
It accentuates realisation as to how in a relatively short period of time we lost not only top players, but goals and Leaders with aggression from different playing positions like Trent, Robertson and Salah.
Jacquet is doing well so far. However, both Frimpong and Kerkez are letting him and VVD down. I now want to see more of Kostas. Do we install the ex-Barca guy as a right-back?
This we need to forge and get right very quickly otherwise we will continue to leak cheap goals.

29th August 2026 at 7:31 pm #254952Was it Elanga and Willock last weekend against us? Elanga and Wissa today against Spurs on their own ground. Our draw away from home doesn’t look too bad this evening π

29th August 2026 at 8:48 pm #254958I was harsh on Isak in on my thoughts in earlier in the afternoon after the game, but the fact of the matter is that we’ve paid 120 Million Plus or thereabouts for somebody Lightweight showing essentially no Aggression, Fight, or much of his Abilities.
4-4-2 – 2 Strikers – Modern Game so-called for decades, 1 Striker. I Vehemently would place this under the Spotlight when you think we no longer have Mohammed Salah.
Our Football Team of 11 Dismantled, 12-16-20-24 Months….That is HUGE and a REVOLUTION for LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB which should be Spoken of BRIGHT-LIGHTS.
This does somewhat feel like an Overnight Change. And an Element of Realism to my mind is that Isak presumed to be included in the company of the Very Best.
I Certainly Don’t hold that against him should that be. It’s the HERE and NOW.

29th August 2026 at 9:16 pm #254962Song, to answer your question directly to me from this afternoon, I didn’t quite follow but happily remain in saying I wanted Slot out. Not in your Court for that one.
Honestly, Believe me, I am gladly Rid of. Coaching-Tactics-Management – DOWNHILL from a League Title Win.
I fully Recognise all the Circumstances which is why I’ve called out Richard Hughes. In my eyes, he certainly is no Angel!!!

29th August 2026 at 9:43 pm #254964βCherry picking by judging a player on only a few minutes on the pitch,β
Which is EXACTLY what you did when you declared Jacquet as the best partner for VVd.
And which I highlighted in my post.
Your hypocrisy knows no bounds.
But as we know, because you tell us, youβre always right.

29th August 2026 at 10:51 pm #254975Jacquet was solely responsible for two very important interceptions in front of goal which would have probably led to a goal. We have a good balance of new centre backs with Jacquet and Araujo.

30th August 2026 at 10:18 am #255006Arajuo actually scares me cause hes so aggressive and front footed.
Rb is a-massive issue. Frimpong is far to easily pushed off the ball. Hesa hinderence atm. Cant cross his legs
Nyoni did well when he came on.Thought szobo delayed to many passes.
Writz mom. Just need that more consistently
Plastic, isak still looks unfit. He should offer a lot more. He needs chance but hes useless outside the box.

30th August 2026 at 10:31 am #255009I remember one Jacquet block which was great, can’t remember the second. Kerkez did one too but one instance doesn’t make him a great defender.
My comments about Jacquet isn’t about individual ability, it’s about balance.
Best CB pairs in the league is at Arsenal, Saliba the cover and Gabriel the aggressive stopper. Utd for years had issues finding a partner for Varane as all of theirs were of a similar style. Many great parings have a contrast between the styles of the two and currently I think Araujo would be a better fit. Doesn’t mean that will always be thr case, depends on how Jacquet develops.

30th August 2026 at 11:00 am #255015Let me be clear about what I said about Jacquet.
It was in relation to the definitive statement made by a poster that he was clearly the best partner for VVD, which was offered without context or explanation.
The facts are heβs been on the pitch when 4 goals have been conceded in 2 games. Zero goals have been conceded when another partner has been on the pitch. We know how much the person who made the definitive statement loves facts.
My position on who the best partner for VvD is?β¦β¦.we dont know yet.
There hasnβt been anywhere enough football played with either partner.
Both Jacquet and Araujo both look like good players albeit different.
It very very early for either of them in a Liverpool shirt to make any definitive statements._____________________________

30th August 2026 at 11:07 am #255016In this era where your left-sided attacker has to be right-footed and your right-sided attacker has to be left-footed; it was a bit ironic that Gakpo looked more effective when he played on the right yesterday than he has done playing on the left where he repeatedly attempted his telegraphed cut inside / shoot for far-post / shot gets blocked – and now we are selling him! I also thought that Munoz looked fine and threatening playing on the right after Gakpo got subbed-off. Maybe this current trend of inverted / opposite wingers is getting over-thought a bit too much.

30th August 2026 at 11:22 am #255020I was thinking that Red-herring. There will be lots of his contribution missed.
If we put on the table now all the different dimensions of goals we used to inject from different playing positions, we could include, Trent, Mo, Luis Diaz, Jota (late), Robertson occasionally. These are bull by the horn players.
I would include Cody in this bracket meaning making something happen.
The low block employed by Forest suited them and the reinforced that putting 2 on 1. Our creativity struggled albeit Munoz’s clever play and Gakpo’s contributions.

30th August 2026 at 11:22 am #255021Did anyone see the Spurs v Newcastle game (or MotD highlights) where, in the opening moments, Elanga attempted a shot towards goal from inside the area – which drifted wide of the far post – but instantly after making contact, got barged over by Van de Ven ? Of course, no penalty was given; but could anyone explain to me what the difference was between this and Alisson on Williams? Exactly the same sequence of events where the forward makes unhindered contact with the ball – which goes wide and out of play – and then gets clattered afterwards. As always, we fall foul of the inconsistency and poor refereeing interpretations.
Come to think of it, it’s another example of Van De Ven getting away with things in the box. It was his awful challenge that broke Isak’s ankle last year and because Isak scored, somehow the red card, late challenge got overlooked.

30th August 2026 at 11:35 am #255024I didn’t think it was a penalty. Alisson didn’t hinder the shot as it was played without issue and didn’t hinder the player getting on the end of it either as there was zero chance of that hsppening.
I had German commentary on who are most likely less biased than what you have in the UK and they said multiple times that is was no way a penalty.

30th August 2026 at 11:49 am #255026Sean I think you are right about his fitness but he has been back for 5 months now. If he isnβt fit i donβt think he ever will be. All we need from Isak is to get the crowd involved and create a buzz. Smash a few centre backs, take a ridiculous shot from 40 yards. Soon enough the crowd will be singing his name and roaring him on

30th August 2026 at 11:52 am #255027A lot of blame placed on the full backs
And they have been poor. But all of the goals can be traced back to poor centre back play (or terrible refeeering). Jaquet is great but was gassed at 50 mins. VVD has started poorly and is way too passive when he backs off. Perhaps jacque should be the sweeper and VVD the physical presence now?_____________________________

30th August 2026 at 11:56 am #255028Unless Isak has a niggle that we are unaware off there is no reason why he shouldnt be fit.
He played the end if last season, played a World Cup and has had more or less a full pre season. Now he might not be as fit as Iraola wants for his intense style of football, but heβs not the only one.
