Generally a good draw, but yeah, it’s Athleti. They’ll be really up for it.
Andoni’s first experience too at the big stage with us.

27th August 2026 at 8:25 pm #254631Just from the other thread re Chelsea possibly being Arsenal’s nearest challengers, what do we gauge the points total would be for the Champion this season if we did a ‘first past the post’? Would it be anything like last season?
More, Less?
I’ll go for about 82-85

27th August 2026 at 8:43 pm #25463384-86 points for the title, no squad is strong enough to get 90 points unless Arsenal buy Alvarez

28th August 2026 at 1:46 am #254649BTW songman if you would understand budgets and amortization which you should as you are a accountant, then you should realize that with increased revenue we can afford bigger players like Isak and Barcola, the club does not need to make a profit every season, we actually need to spend money so we get players and a contract like BarcolaΒ΄s is paid over 5 years so that is 20 million a year for the next five years. Plus clauses which nobody minds paying if the player actually succeeds. The worst thing this club can do is run a profit on its accounts as that means we do not spend money and pay more tax. You fail to realize this is a football club that is meant to win trophies, while you want profits for some reason!

29th August 2026 at 1:51 am #254733Pro Bingo in this one.
If Every-time there’s a game people are like “ah we’ll lose”, that’s not really good vibes. Join Jamie Carragher.

29th August 2026 at 11:00 am #254769“itΒ΄s not worth responding songman, you still miss Slot and thatΒ΄s enough said”
No I don’t, have you never seen my posts espousing the values of Spanish managers who are the best in the world, including he best of them all, Luis de La Fuente.
And these managers have even won me some good money this year with my bets on PSG (twice) and Spain.

No I’m not an accountant, Notorious.
I am a self-employed businessman for over 10 years now, and for me the deal always comes first, otherwise I wouldn’t survive in my sector.
Either pay the right price or walk away, something Richard Hughes can’t seem to comprehend in some of his signings.

29th August 2026 at 11:12 am #254773My favourite non-Liverpool game of last season was where Bournemouth outplayed Arsenal in a 2-1 win at the Emirates, against all expectations. And that’s when I first really noticed Iraola, and said that he’ll be going places.
Now, I can’t recall if their midfield was wide open, but I don’t think it was, and of course they have different midfielders to ours, but surely Iraola can replicate this at Liverpool, especially as we have better players than Bournemouth.
And that’s what I wan to see today – no repeat of the stupid mistakes from last Sunday.

29th August 2026 at 11:14 am #254775MuΒ€oz starts.
And so does Mac Allister. Gravenberch dropped.
Iraola has realised that we just can’t be overrun in midfield again

29th August 2026 at 11:16 am #254777Liverpools and Forest’s starting 11 from last week average height is more of less the same. We have a huge players down the spine but short players out wide, but other teams have probably more evenly distributed height throughout the team.
But height doesn’t mean good at set pieces. The three best attacking headerers in PL history we all under 6 foot. Aggression, movement, positioning and training are equally or more important than height.

29th August 2026 at 11:19 am #254785He’s our best defender to partner Van Dijk, and I don’t explain myself to anyone, the proof is in the pudding, as Iraola has shown.
