Hopefully Rio can emulate both Mane and Diaz on the left wing, it´s a big task but I actually think he is up for it, he just needs more game time. If Slot gives it to him instead of u21 games he will mature and bulk up faster.

23rd February 2026 at 4:53 am #239925I thought we were horrendous in the 1st half… besides our defenders, everybody was absolute pisshhh…. i blame the midfield who didnt wanna take responsibility and kept on losing possession. Thats the worst I’ve seen grav and mac play for sometime.
Another issue ive had of late is Ekitike, the guys a decent player but hes lazy and why is it that when he goes to press (which is always about 3 seconds too late) he runs like hes pee-wee herman.. that on top off no aggression, poor hold up play and him and gakpo were powderpuff. I would have kept salah on and taken ekitike and gakpo off.
Man of the match was VVD with konate a close second. Really happy for ngomuha and weve all wanted to see him get some game time. Just worried that he might have a half decent end to the season and the club then dont invest on a left winger… thinking weve got enough cover.

23rd February 2026 at 5:51 am #2399261st half the worst 45 minutes of the season? Not sure, there’s strong competition but it was truly awful. 2nd half a bit better but still not good enough. At this stage I’ve excepted I’m not going to enjoy watching thr team under Slot and so it’s just about results and getting into the CL.
Midfield was abysmal. You can laud all you like the individual talents of Grav and MacAllister (although I think many LFC overstate this) but I have no idea what Slot is trying to do with them. There were acres of space between midfield and defence it was so easy for Forset to exploit which has happened so many times already this season. Then Szoboszlai was the deepest when playing out but also expected to be the most advanced when attacking. Crazy stuff again and we were lucky Forest are powder puff up front and that our over worked two centre backs were on their game.

23rd February 2026 at 7:36 am #239929Looked like when jones and szobo swapped macca was ten. Agreed awful to watch, ive seen that 1st half many tines this season.
All about cl football but for years i absolutely loved watching us play. But its just boring, slow and predictable

23rd February 2026 at 7:47 am #239930The slow Slot style is supposedly to be about control of possession right? Then how were we at 40% possesion in that first half against a team not known for holding onto the ball?
Their midfield duo of Sangare and especially Anderson were miles ahead of ours.

23rd February 2026 at 8:46 am #239931Threeps, ye 1st halves like yesterday is about lack of energy in midfield. Not winning battles then when we get the ball we are pressed and shit ourselves. Seen it numerous times this season.
Slot was banging on about us having the most possession which means fuck all when you dont create much.
Get cl football, get to the summer and regroup

23rd February 2026 at 11:28 am #239939Need to realistically think now about 2 new Wingers. Salah as it’s apparent, was and is a marque. It’s clear he’s missing the collaboration of Trent, Jota, Diaz, even Darwin Nunez.
Wirtz and Ekitike, have a better formation. To be fair, it’s dribs and drabs we’ve lived off and for me, for years, Mo’s not been at those levels we’ve previously been blessed to have seen.
It’s not solely on Slot. We’ve been affected in Dynamics. Imagine a fully-fledged Isak?
There is a lot more construction needed to this squad to be able to return to those proper Heights. The potential starting point would be for a new Head Coach, and then going from there.

23rd February 2026 at 12:09 pm #239944Sean, depends who will be coach and what their style is.
Salah last season was out of this world for us, his drop off has been staggering. Sure he is getting older but I refuse to believe this drop off is purely because he’s a year older, especially considering his condition. Plus the fact that every player in the team, bar Szloboslai perhaps, has dropped off, especially fitness wise. But you’d have to look more in depth at the tactics to see if they are benefitting Salah or not, I have my own opinion I think you all probably know.

23rd February 2026 at 12:53 pm #239946One of the biggest concerns is that earlier in the season we were all saying how vulnerable we are to low block teams, going long and hitting us on the break, and now it’s teams pressing us high. Basically either extreme and we struggle. Threeps has alluded to it time and time again, that it is clearly a coaching issue and likely part psychological.

23rd February 2026 at 1:02 pm #239947Three points is all that matters, as long as we can keep winning consistently, that’s all that matters, regardless of how we play.
Having said that, we were abysmal in the first half, giving away the ball endlessly, even Slot slated the team as follows “We lost ev-e-ry ball. We could not keep the ball for one second. If we went long, we lost the duel. We lost a lot of second balls. The only part of the game that went well was defending inside the box.”
Now we look to improve, and aim to crush West Ham at Anfield, with Rio getting at least 30 min.

23rd February 2026 at 1:31 pm #239949We are capable of changing our approach and bringing out into the open that style we’ve been used to. We haven’t quite I feel got the players or placing players in positions where if affects the overall dynamic.
I keep going back to that word dynamic. I think also, part of this is choice and whether we are choosing to play like XYZ.
With Mo, he’s sussed by opposition. Unless he has somebody inside right channel or somebody on the outside, he’s going to be limited and effectively into a
cul-de-sac. He does try to square the ball across, but I don’t think the connection with him and Ekitike is fully there.Hopefully with Frimpong returning this weekend, we’ll notice a different dynamic.

23rd February 2026 at 2:07 pm #239953Nil, I’d bring in both Rio and Frimpong for Gakpo and Mo at the weekend. 1 chance created between them yesterday. ONE! Even Konate managed that on his own. An utterly dismal stat considering they are both wide attacking players against a team near the bottom to boot. Tom Tit!

23rd February 2026 at 2:27 pm #239954One thing is clear and certain, our best player, Szobozslai is best deployed in midfield, no Szobo yesterday, no last-minute goal.
I remember shouting out in the last minute, “watch Szobo, he’s looking for an opening”, and his patient, clever cross led to the goal.
I don’t want to see him at right-back for Liverpool again

23rd February 2026 at 3:14 pm #239961So… salah was poor against Nottingham forest. .. and after one poor game in 6-7 games its time to get rid. Not because hes missing frimpong, connor bradley, szobo(playing deeper ) and wirtz who have helped with linkup play, space and overloads… or the fact hes fasting… nope its “hes shite, a busted flush and over the hill” i see??
However, we do need another right winger in the summer. We cant lose out on yan diomande if LFC believe hes the ideal replacement for salah. Weve kinda failed with marmoush, doku and a few others. We should still keep salah and ease the new boys into the first team.
I know everyones on gakpos back, but it doesnt help that hes got ekitike who is pretty much the same in physique and effort. We played diaz in strike last year to create space and add intensity with gakpo… it allowed him to excel. We dont have that option this year… and ive been complaining about it all season. Either give ngumoha more game time or get another left winger to replace diaz. Yes Wirtz can play there, but he lacks pace and directness.. prefer him to play across the attacking in a free role position.

23rd February 2026 at 3:21 pm #239963Rob, i disagree with both. If wirtz is fit and so is gomez(who was amazing with his throws which no ones mentioned). I would have Gomez, robertson wirtz in. At the expense of kerkez, curtis and probably gakpo or mac.
Bring on gakpo or ngomoha at the end of the game if the score is right… where you could put gakpo in strike for ekitike and wirtz/salah for ngomoha. Frimpong should be available very soon so that should help with the whole right side issues. Frimpong for Gomez… but if not let frimpong get full fitness.

23rd February 2026 at 3:54 pm #239964I doubt Slot will change anything about his approach, he could not praise Rio without stating what a good job Gakpo is doing at the moment but maybe we will see a bit more of Rio because of Ramadan. Slot might be tempted into giving Rio minutes at the expense of Salah.

23rd February 2026 at 3:56 pm #239965Asian @ 3:14, that’s a very valid point which I forgot to mention or mentioned elsewhere: It’s who Salah is now surrounded by and understanding each and one another on the pitch. Trent, Jota (god rest his soul), Diaz, Nunez, all missed and played with Salah. Plus we don’t play a 4-3-3.
With this in mind, I’ve been of his Critic in maintaining he’s not been ‘that player’ for a while. He’s done nearly 10 years. I imagine, this could be his last season with us. Would love him to leave should this be the case, with a Trophy.

23rd February 2026 at 4:11 pm #239967Was scanning through the injury list page and I couldn’t believe Tottenham have 11 players out. I thought we had difficulties!
So Next week going forward is going to need to be hands-on-deck. Our new Acquaintances, Wolves; League on Tues, then Cup Game Friday Night. Both Televised.
We can’t afford to take any feet off the Gas Pedal; Gotta be on it. Yesterday looked like a training session and players coasting on that football field from both sets. We punished Forest late on and didn’t fold up.
The frustration for a while has been for a proper mapping of players on formation. Can’t have Zobo Right-back again; doesn’t make sense. Frimpong returning will help us and hoping more minutes for Rio and no issues with Witrz. West Ham first up though; gotta keep up this run of Wins and not slip up!!
