Was thinking randomly about Leoni. Real shame re his injury and side-lines.
If we can integrate him in and it’s working out for him, I’m actually dying for a new Central Defensive Partnership. I think both Van Dijk and Konate have had their day. Thank You Very Much. Let’s bring in new Blood.
The Right-back is a Question-Mark ala Bradley who I like loads as a player. Frimpong, I don’t really rate if I’m dead honest, some we should be shopping for somebody new this summer or in the not too distant future.

17th April 2026 at 6:04 pm #2439623ps, I donยดt see Kompany leaving before the end of his contract but he has pretty much proven his merit by now. City would need to pay a transfer fee to get him and I think City would be the only club he would join or think of in the premier league. There might be some other job offers down the line but that would be his priority I reckon.
Luis Enrique is impressing me more and more, I would actually rather take him than Nagelsmann at this point. How he has transformed that PSG side into a competitive unit that works together is impressive. He has come out and stated that he wants to manage in England because of the fans and what better stadium for him than Anfield.
He had a really interesting career as a player, even a more interesting career as a manager by now, if he actually gets the old big ears 2 years in a row. He has to be rated as the top manager of professional football right now.
Real Madrid want him, Iยดm guessing Edwards has read the profile on him as well as a contender for our position but he is not a head coach. He is a manager that takes full control of the club and shapes it in his way, just like Klopp did.
Nil, Leoni looks like a beast, he might be the strongest physical prospect we have ever had at the club, standing at 6’5, by what little I have seen of him he also looks like he can read the game, pass the ball so Iยดm not worried about him despite one major injury.

19th April 2026 at 4:05 pm #244232You definitely won’t see Liverpool ludicrously overpaying for a player like Isak, ever again.
Simply because FSG can see that Isak has been greatly outperformed this season (in terms of goals/game) by strikers andย wingers, costing half his price, let alone by the likes of Haaland or Igor Thiago, who only cost ยฃ30m.
Isak has never even been the top scorer in the PL, unlike Mo Salah who has topped the charts an incredible FOUR times, even Sadio Manรฉ, Aubameyang and Son did it.
So why pay a ridiculous ยฃ125m for Isak then?Going forward, though, I expect Isak to do well for Liverpool, if he can remain fit. My main issue with him has always been his completely unjustifiable, excessive price.
The consequence of this Isak misdecision, is that from now on, the players that Liverpool buy are going to be VALUE FOR MONEY players, or players who are priced correctly compared to their similarly talented peers, just watch this happen.

19th April 2026 at 6:39 pm #244281Isak was bought to fill the goal gap that will inevitably come when Salah leaves. It is purely on numbers and not on shape or style of the team.

19th April 2026 at 8:58 pm #244294fulcrum, indeed, 44 PL goals in his last two seasons at Newcastle.
Once he’s up to speed, get some decent supply to him with proper tactics then I’ll believe he’ll continue those numbers.

19th April 2026 at 9:39 pm #244295Morgan Gibbs White is on my Radar right now haha. Squad Player at the very least.
What a lovely story as a football fan today just random in Nico O’Reilly. Age 21 coming through the ranks and Pep’s faith has shun through.
I want the same in the example of Rio. Jurgen to me invested in youth and I want that at our club than for it to be held back.
Going back on Gibbs White, if we do see a change in a new Management Team (Thankfully), sure we have rebuild phases to work on, and that has take into account A Squad Overall.

20th April 2026 at 12:32 pm #244310Konates looks to be signing a new contract soon.
Virtually all players have a had a down turn this season but defenders tend to be more noticeable as their mistakes can lead to chances or goals.
Who knows how long his father was dying for while Konate was in a different country and then he has to process that death.
One id suggest is more deeply felt than Jotas.Thatโs means, currently, our central defence will be made up of VVD, Konate, Gomez, Leoni and Jacquet. I would not be surprised by Gomez leaving. It also means less work to do in the transfer market in defence.
Supposedly Tsimikas is coming back also to play left back back up.Itโs looking like the majority of money spent is gonna be in attack and midfield.
Salah and Robbo going frees up 2 non home grown spots. And also significant wages/bonuses.
Other likely departures are Chiesa, Endo.
Possibly MacA and Jones.Jones and Gomez leaving impacts the home grown quota.

20th April 2026 at 12:52 pm #244312Jesus wept, Sean! If slot stays into next season it will the first season in a very long time I have not looked forward to, even in blind hope! At least back in Hodgson’s day the team was littered with limited players that other teams were only too happy to flog.

20th April 2026 at 1:40 pm #244316if there was any truth to the noise I reckon the club would offer him a new contract, so I donยดt really believe those rumors. There is only one year left on his contract next summer and I think the same goes for both Edwards and Hughes.
So I am expecting a lot of activity in the summer, like all of our loan players will be sold, Endo and Gomez will probably leave, then Ramsay. We could see Alison leave, then plenty rumors about Mac leaving and now Szoboszlai was added to the list, plus I saw some rumor about Gravy leaving for way more than 100 million as well.
I think a minimum of 10 players will leave in the summer.

20th April 2026 at 5:44 pm #244329For Arnie, the justification for him staying on would be this season chalked off as a ‘free hit’ for winning last season (I nearly used the word handsomely!!)
Not so long ago Konate was deemed as a beast. What’s happened to him this season to justify a new deal? Maybe he’s human and allowed a bad season.
I’m not clouded by Van Dijk’s header. He’s slowing down so Leoni definitely is the vision forward and anybody else to forge a new central defence partnership.

20th April 2026 at 7:15 pm #244330Nil I dont think that many here like Konate actually, I’ve always rated him and he is likely to improve with age.
Compare him to any other 25 year old defender right now at the top level and there are not many ahead of him.
I would hate to lose him as I see a genuine world class talent in him, he just needs to mature and become a man instead of a playboy wearing Prada.

20th April 2026 at 7:23 pm #244331But it certainly looks like a contract is close, I would actually compare him a bit to Gomez, they have had very similar careers except Joe broke down at Ibou age.
Just at the time he was starting to be able to command the defense, that’s the one thing I wanna see from Konate. He needs to step up into that leadership role.
Cause a center half only capable of taking orders is not that good actually, we need two bosses at the back who command everyone around the box in my opinion.
I think Ibou is finally at that stage and is only about to become better, if I would compare him to another French defender it would be a young Desailly.

20th April 2026 at 8:26 pm #244333Bingo, I would love to be shown different but Konate’s nervy displays have made me nervous either whenever there’s a duel to contest in the air or during a passage of play by the opposition when a cross comes in or just taken apart during a one-on-one chase.
Really itching or Leoni to come on the Scene as we need some freshness.

21st April 2026 at 12:59 am #244337I donยดt really think a player puts his body really on the line until he gets paid for it, I donยดt think a player takes responsibility until he is paid for. Just like I will not do something at work unless I get paid extra and they better pay me good or I will go on another boat! There is plenty money to go around and Konate is one of the few that wants to stay, we canยดt lose him and just compare him to Van Dijk at the age of 25.
Konate has the bigger resume at that age, he can become better given time and responsibility! He would be our top target this summer if playing for another club, think about that!

21st April 2026 at 5:26 am #244338Bingo, Konate shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as Desailly.
He can have games when he looks very good but those are when the opposition plays into his hands and are pretty rare now. When he has decisions to make, like when to step out, he usually makes a hash of it and gets caught out of position. For such a strong lad he grabs far too much when there’s no need to and gives away too many free kicks. Maybe that’s his way of saying “I’m big and strong, see how i can grab and stop them” but then proceeds to get bullied when his strength should really matter.
I’m torn on him signing. I think there’s better options out there but of course they would cost and we have other areas that need attention too. We have two young inexperienced CBs for next season which will be exciting to see but both have sustained bad injuries so we don’t know how they will do, I wouldn’t rush to rely on either.
So having another experienced head at the back is good, I’m just worried that after Gravenberch’s contract we’re putting another average player on unjustifiably high wages that makes selling impossible.
