For keeping Slot in the summer, read “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”

23rd April 2026 at 1:03 pm #2444493ps, I doubt Slot can wait for any particular player, he is not in the loop of who gets bought or sold. He has no say on it.
If the board actually backed him to be our long term manager they would come out and offer him a new deal as of next summer there is only one year left on his contract.
I think there is a 50/50 chance he will go this summer, if not I think we are looking at a 75% chance that he will go next winter. Then there is no freaking way he stays longer than the whole season.
I doubt he was honest with us when he stated that he had not heard the fans singing for another manager, it looks more and more that he is aware of how the fans are turning their backs on him and he can only blame himself for that.
Imagine if he had stayed behind in Liverpool and gone to the bloody pub and celebrated there instead of with Rooney in Ibiza. Or at least picked up one word with a scouse accent, just something to connect with the fans. He got the keys to the city and spends no time there. Even before his arrival there was 60k fans chanting his name.
If he was backed by the board he would get a new contract, everything done in this year and the last suggest we are in the midst of a transition that will end in 2027. 100% new manager, Edwards and Hughes will probably leave as well.
I think Edwards is the 2nd most trusted man at the club for FSG, Klopp surpassed him but Edwards was brought in to do this transition. Hughes has been aggressive in the market, most of the signings are for the future not the now. Only Chelsea have more u23 players with international experience than us in the league I think.

23rd April 2026 at 2:05 pm #244455I am 100% behind Slot, Klopp was allowed to finish 5th after winning the league, just like Slot did, and I didn’t see anyone calling for him to be sacked.
Talk of ridiculous double-standards, and hypocrisy here.
Thus, it’s up to Slot to get us CL next season, so get behind him and the team and get them over the line. And we can’t be complacent either, as we have some tough games coming up.
But next season, it’s up to Slot to prove himself at Liverpool, and of course if he doesn’t deliver the goods, he will be sacked, just like any other coach, at any other club would, if they don’t achieve what they’ve been asked to.

23rd April 2026 at 2:06 pm #244456Yeah I wasn’t being serious bingo about Slot waiting for a certain player to kick-start his system. Pretty clear it doesn’t work and he wont budge much from it.
The potential departure of Hughes and Edwards is intriguing. Hughes has apparently a nice offer from KSA, whilst Edwards role is pretty much redundant now we binned the multi club idea.
Going to be a busy summer for the club whatever happens.

23rd April 2026 at 2:33 pm #244458With everyone contracts expiring at the same time I think we are in for a massive summer, really big one, I think our outlay will be again around 450 million.
Of course we will offset that by selling players it´s gonna be a big window.
The list of potential players out is so long. Alison, Tsimikas, Robbo, Ramsay, Gomez, Endo, it looks like either Mac or Jones will leave, Salah gone and I think that if a good offer comes in for Gakpo then he will leave but that might be difficult considering how much he is earning. There is probably more that I am forgetting.
I think one of the key reason as to why Klopp stepped down is because he did not want to dismantle this squad and be the bad guy, he loved his players and fought for them. That´s also why I think Slot was brought in as a yes man, who was just happy to get the opportunity to head coach the club. Mean while Edwards and Hughes can be in the backroom and have total control over who come in and out.
The only reason why I feel mildly optimistic about the future is because they don´t have long term contracts and that suggest a quick transition is gonna happen.

23rd April 2026 at 5:18 pm #244468Me too, it looks like we are trying to cut the wage bill by a third, it would not surprise me to see Gravy and Gakpo leave as well as they are both on big contracts.

23rd April 2026 at 6:41 pm #244475And that’s why I bet you’re not a businessman Rob.
I am actually. A good one I think!
Big deals happen in business all the time and this is no different.
I’ve said before I think 125m was too high and mentioned I’d put him around 100m but 125 is what Newcastle wanted (premium player, premium age, premium stats) to help their own rebuilding project and that’s what we paid.
We move on. Well, some do anyhow.

23rd April 2026 at 9:21 pm #244482No lads I’d Isak had 20 goals right now nobody would bat a eyelid at his transfer fee.
He will score 20 goals next season and the one after that.
Im not worried, the culprit is Slot who cant make a decision to protect his players

23rd April 2026 at 11:46 pm #244485I got no faith in any of our players under Slot, I think its pretty guaranteed that we see a relapse on every player as long as we have Slot as a head coach.
Slot is known for throwing his players under the bus, he is known for putting the club down to enhance his own reputation.
He needs to go and the latest that should happen is the last game of the season.
Just so we can welcome new players into a system that might work

24th April 2026 at 12:34 am #244488Imagine the only one on the forum that supports Slot is Songman and yes songman is right sometimes but it is the way he tries to prove his point that gets everyone to despise him, Slot can´t figure out the same things as Songman, it just goes above his head.
And I actually do find their teamtalks pretty similar, except one is in the dressing room and the other on the forum.
Basically blaming everyone else for their faults and then saying we need to go again. I doubt there is much difference between their ideology about football actually and I expect the whole locker room to feel the same about their head coach.
Would you fight for a boss if he acted like songman? Blaming everyone else than the head coach, cause I´ve not seen Slot praise a player this season. He did not praise Chiesa when he won man of the month award, he just put him on the bench. There is no reason to Slot, the only time he succeeded over here was when he kept his mouth shut and went along with business.

24th April 2026 at 7:50 am #244490If slot stays im hoping beyond hope that with more pace out wide and a fresh season , something changes. I doubt it
We need another cb as virgil last season next year. Sensi in free from Bournemouth makes sense. We need pace out wide, a sting physical six and slot to stop being so stubborn his tactics.

Firstly I’m not the only one on this forum who supports Slot, so you’re blatantly lying.
Secondly, I don’t give a fck about being despised, I always speak my mind whether you like it or not, and I’m right on most occasions (not all, of course), because I base my opinions on facts, and don’t jump on empty media bandwagons like overhyping up Isak, Slot out etc.

Stupid question, because it seems you cannot understand that Hughes’ transfer mistakes have cost Liverpool this season.
Basically, signing Isak for £125m, when he should have cost £80 max, and not keeping Luis Díaz, yet Slot wanted him to stay, and then when he left, not replacing him with a similarly talented winger.

To put it simply, £125m could have bought two top players, like a striker and a winger, for about £60m-£70m each, and this would have been much better utilisation of the money.
Isak, only 3 goals in 20 games for Liverpool, so far, an abysmal return.
Hughes won’t be making such a dumb mistake again, well at least not at Liverpool.
