songman, predicting that our biggest ever signing is a risk does not make you a football genius, what ever player we would have signed for a new record would have been a risk.

There is also a huge difference between Torres and Ekitike, Torres was much faster and more robust. Ekitike got the height on him, IΒ΄ve yet to see Ekitike hold off a whole defense on his shoulder while dribbling at goal. Remember that one picture where Torres destroyed the United defense, he had Vidic on his back, the whole United defense was on his back.

Torres was world class, Ekitike like the player himself just said he has a long way to go before that happens for him.

So what are these facts Songman that make you predict “the big calls”?

I think I mentioned Ekitike as a good transfer for us about a year ago right now, described him as a more cultured striker than Nunez who I thought we would be replacing in the summer.

            Confused.

            ‘He’s far better than Torres’

            31st January 6.36p
‘I confidently predict Ekitike will be a better striker for Liverpool than Torres.’

Isn’t one statement saying he already is but the second and later saying that he could be?

Making sure gaslighting isn’t a factor here.

I’m in juxtaposition mood though lads!

            Torres
81 goals in 142 appearances for Liverpool.
Scored 24 league goals in his 2007-08 debut season.Β
Finished third in the 2008 Ballon d’Or (his first season with us).

            European Cup Winner
            Twice Europa Winner
            World Cup Winner
            European Championship Winner
            U16/U19 European Championship Winner

            Ekitike
15 goals, 4 assists for Liverpool
            5 France U21 goals
            Lique 1 Winner

Absolutely savage. My arse that Ekitike is already better.

It seems our confidence is slowly been brought back. What I like about Ekitike is his dare; dare to go above and beyond to make it happen.

He’s got the physical attributes and footballing ability. That fee we paid will pay off. Hope he stays fit πŸ™ and consistently in form.

I do see similarities to Torres: remember once how he used his determination more than anything to edge past Rio Ferdinand and break the deadlock. I think Ekitike is this type of player.

I sense there’s been a period where he’s sort of been held back. Why Gakpo even considered?? So first thing first is accepting the same vision and select and play Ekitike regularly. Would be even better if Slot opted for a 442 but that would be asking for something else altogether ⚽️

Not even Ekitike himself thinks of him as a better striker than Torres and he got quite the ego actually but yeah Hugo can develop into a really fine footballer. I can also see why he has settled so quickly, his mother keeps him grounded, the lad hugs all the old ladies at the club. Everyone loves him and he has had a excellent first season so far individually but not as a team.

I prefer him on the left actually, he got that natural flair to succeed there, I quite like him up top but I can easily see him forming a excellent partnership with Isak. Cause anyone writing off Isak is completely wrong about him. He will score goals for us, albeit I doubt he will be hitting much more than 15-20 goals in the league every season but I also doubt he will start every game.

15-20 goals in about 25 games is pretty decent return, he can score another 5-10 goals in the Champions League and another 5 in the cups. Then again he might surprise us all and play every game almost, this is his big chance of proving how good he can be.

I think we also found Wirtz best position in our last game, he should be playing in midfield, when he drives the ball up from there we are instantly 4 vs 4 or 4 vs 3 in certain scenarios. He got the quality to drift all over the pitch but we need to cement a position for him, there is not a single midfielder we have bought in the last 30-40 years that has excited me as much as Wirtz. He is only 22 years old and he has started to boss our midfield like no other midfielder has done since Gerrard. I would also name Thiago but he could not start every match, the best technical player I have ever seen.

How good can this German kid become? He got the potential for a balon! He got the potential to rule this league like De Bruyne did.

nil when we have a full squad I can actually see Slot fielding a 442 on occasions, he has experimented with it twice I think this season.

Yes, Ekitike can be great for us Bingo but definitely a long, long way to go before he gets to the heights of Torres’ levels unless he’s already better of course!

Top finish from Cherki. This could be a blueprint for when we play them next Sunday.

Rob IΒ΄m not really worried about our strikers except Gakpo, who is quite ineffective against a low block as he 9 times out of 10 cuts inside on his right foot, right into the area where everyone is positioned in front of him.

Salah does the same thing with his left foot and cuts inside but he can actually back it up with numbers, despite having a off season right now but he has hardly had service this season.

IΒ΄m not saying Gakpo is a bad player, just that he is our least effective forward. He would shine in a team that is not facing a low block every other game. Where he has a little bit of space to cut inside to, not just a low block.

By the looks of it we might have some last minute business in the window, it would not surprise me as we have guaranteed the knockout stages of the Champions League and we really need to sort out our registration for the champions league. If Ramsay is not trusted then we need another rightback in and we can register him when the window closes.
