Horrible bastard fixture.
Despite the above, we’ve done pretty well at Old Trafford in recent seasons with only one defeat there in the league in the last seven years.
A win for us will put is third place (one goal differential) which is astonishing considering how shite we’ve been for most of the season.
Who will start?
Woodman, Jones, Konate, VVD, Robbo, Grav, Mac, Szobo, Wirtz, Isak and Frimpong is my guess. Gakpo could easily start ahead of rubber ball Frimpong but that would mean a slight change in in mid with maybe Wirtz as the ten, Szobo in Mo’s spot and Gakpo in his usual left attack. That would then leave the rest as is with Frimpy out. Kerkez could also start of course.
I have zero clue how this will go. I just don’t. Brentford should have won the other night and we need to copy their gameplan (as we usually don’t have one) and sling balls in behind their dysfunctional backline toward Isak.
When I haven’t a jar it’s a draw (but a home win wouldn’t shock me in the slightest).
Over to you Gents.

1st May 2026 at 12:29 am #244875I tried to EDIT but time had expired.
Just wanted to add that United have only won 2 out of the last 15 PL games against us and Slot would be the first manager in LFC history to win his first two away games at United. We battered ’em 3-0 here last season (Diaz 2, Mo).
I think this will be the line-up:
Woodman
Jones Konate VVD Robbo
Grav Mac
Szobo Wirtz Gakpo
IsakDRAW!

1st May 2026 at 1:40 am #244876Gentlemen, hope youve all been keeping wellβ¦ unfortunately Iβve had a spate of deaths in the family of late(mainly very elderly people) so been travelling to funerals and paying condolences to family members.
Great to have won 3 games in a row⦠hoping to continue this on Sunday. Just read on another thread about players going on holiday, personally we win this and are guaranteed for champions league next season then im hoping for world cup players to be given time off and Morrison, ngumoha, Nyoni and ndiya(would have loved josua abe but hes injured) get game time for the last 3 games.
Team sheet for united game should be
Woodman
Frimpong, konate, vvd, Robertson
Grav, mac
Szobo, wirtz, gakpo
IsakLets put united to the sword and start building team chemistry for next season!

Waspy-Crimpong? πππ
Rob-Sean got it right, two shite teams, but you slightly a better team.Brentford should have scored a few in the first half alone, against us.One thing for sure, our crap defense and a worse midfield, will give you a lot of chances.Ps:waspy-two shite teams, and how much did we spend? πππ

1st May 2026 at 9:44 am #244883Was thinking back 30 years today with the Cup Final being 10 days away. Obviously a game to forget from our point of view in such a disappointing Cup Final, but apart of that a fun second half of the campaign and good times under Roy.
If we can’t be ready for this, this Sunday, then this Encapsulates everything about us this season and being under the Slot Regime.
Good Team Suggested Selections guys; Would go with Rob. I just fear with Jones playing RB a dodgy Penalty/VAR decision (I feel something like that will happen to us!!). Maybe a Compromise of Frimpong coming on in the Second Half which I think that’s how it could be managed.
Unlikely return for Alisson but I’m sure Woodman will give beyond a 100%
Some encouragement from Brentford’s visit. I think it’s about being Resolute for me and giving a really good account of ourselves.

1st May 2026 at 9:48 am #244884This game is usually very similar to a derby (only more goals) in the respect that previous form can go out the window.
I think Utd will fancy themselves for this game, they may underestimate us which could be their undoing.I do not expect to view a classic here.
Were gonna be very light with attacking options (at least options Slot wants to use) which suggests he may just pack the midfield instead.
A lot will depend on the fitness of our right sided options. How long can Gomez or Frimpong play for?
I can see Jones starting right back again due to his last 2 performances.
I think Id start Robbo for this one, not due to any sentimentality, but because he knows what this fixture is all about and as its potentially his last so he’ll be well up for it.
Hopefully Allison starting.
Konate and VVD centreback.
Midfield 2 and the 3 in front is gonna be interesting.
Highly likely Szobo, Wirtz and Gakpo will be there but who takes up the other 2 spots?
Macca, Grav, Frimpong are the only realistic options.
Then Isak up front._____________________________

1st May 2026 at 12:00 pm #244888I hope he goes with the same formation, IΒ΄m sick and tired of seeing us change our gameplay every match, if we keep our shape we can win this.
I reckon Gakpo, Isak and Frimpong will act as our forwards, Jones will probably fill in at right back. I hope Robbo starts as we need his communications at the back and he is just so much better going forward than Kerkez.
IΒ΄m not sure about the midfield except Szobo needs to start, I donΒ΄t care if itΒ΄s Macca or Gravy that sits with him in midfield as long as Wirtz is there as well.
I expect a good game, there is a bit extra to play for as I am convinced who ever wins this game will end up in 3rd.

1st May 2026 at 12:17 pm #244889While Wirtz could play off the right its a very unfamiliar position for him.
If Wirtz’s long term position is gonna be as a No10 of some description then we need to start playing him there more regularly and with Isak in front of him.
Someone needs to be feeding Isak. He needs that service.
Weve been playing a 4-2-3-1 to some effect lately so perhaps just stick to it.I’ll guess at…
Woodman
Jones, Konate, VVD, Robbo
Grav, MacA
Szobo, Wirtz, Gakpo
IsakIt basically means that the only difference from last weeks team/formation is that Grav comes in and Szobo moves right.
Like I said earlier those 2 & 3 in the midfield positions could be arranged differently or slightly different personnel. That leaves viable subs of Frimpong, Gomez, Rio and maybe Kerkez.

1st May 2026 at 12:18 pm #244890It’s how I’d like it to be played out Bingo. If everybody can stick to their roles, that’s always a good place to start.
It is a cliche` often used but I’m afraid these are the vital ingredients especially at Old Trafford where Focus, Discipline, and High Energy Levels are going to be needed. It can take only one blip and a Sesko or Amad can pounce.
They’ll definitely find our weak area to exploit and will persist with that, then be ‘spontaneous’ and catch us out.
If Gakpo wants to do what he wants to do, then let him if it means he is a threat level for us. Give them problems to think about and that’s essentially what’s going to be needed which is the Press; even it if is in fits and spurts, as long as we maintain our shape and discipline start to finish.

1st May 2026 at 12:33 pm #244891We go all out to win here, like Leeds did recently.
I’d like to see Frimpong back at right-back with his pace to exploit the big pitch. Same for Isak with his pace, and clinical finishing, and he’s quickly getting back up to speed.
Before we signed Frimpong, I asked where he would play at Liverpool, as he was mainly a wing-back at Leverkusen (31 goals and 43 assists in 4 seasons). Looks like Slot now prefers to play a midfielder at right-back instead, Szoboszlai or Jones. He needs to sort this going forward.
Now let’s win it.
Woodman
Frimpong KonatΓ© Van Dijk Kerkez
Gravenberch Mac Allister
Szoboszlai Wirtz Gakpo
Isak-

1st May 2026 at 12:57 pm #244895you pretty much explain it yourself songman, itΒ΄s those assists he is looking for, that is why he keeps playing him as a forward.
I quite like Frimpong as a player, itΒ΄s been a shame that he has been injured for the majority of the season somehow and I do prefer him as a rightback but itΒ΄s that burst of speed he has and the ability to beat his marker.
He does that more consistently than Gakpo for example and if we got someone that can beat his marker there on the right and put a cross in then Isak should start scoring. IΒ΄m more worried about our left flank than right flank.
Kerkez and Gakpo together is a recipe for disaster on the left flank and there is like a 60-70% chance of that happening. I doubt Gakpo has passed the ball to Kerkez more than 40 times this season and they have started almost every game together.

1st May 2026 at 1:18 pm #244897I’d only play Frimpong at right-back for Liverpool (apart from exceptional circumstances), so that he can get used to the position, and I think he can become a top attacking right-back, once he plays there consistently, and improves his defending.
Going forward, he has no problem, and is excellent at dribbling, beating players, goals and assists.

1st May 2026 at 2:14 pm #244901yes maybe, I just think he is off form, Szobo is worse there. He does not know that position and lacks the ability to do it. He is a midfielder and I want him in midfield, I would rather start Rio there than Szobo but I seriously doubt he will start. I would also start Rio over Gakpo as I think he provides us with more of a threat and this occasion is as good as any to introduce him to Old Trafford.
I reckon he is gonna have a great effect on the game when introduced, I would rather see him start than any other winger, if we go by Slot itΒ΄s better to control his minutes from the start than at the latter part of the game.
Who can win us the match, Isak yes, Wirtz yes, I can see Macca doing it as well, he has been popping up with the odd assist and goal lately, Van Dijk can come up with a clutch moment, so could Robbo.
The one player I want to see on the team sheet is Jones, he will care more about this fixture than most of the lads, I just know it. He will perform like he did against Everton and Palace. No matter what role!
