It’s clear we need to get a proper, mobile, athletic, defensive minded midfielder. Will we actually go out and do it? I guess it kinda depends on how Lammens is doing too, and if Amad, Dalot and Mazraoui are doing well at right back.

What we CAN consider are players whose contract run out in 2026…
– Frankie De Jong (CM)
– Goretzka (CM)
– Gnabry (LW)
– Maignan (GK)
– Upamecano (CB)Some excellent players in positions that we desperately need and would be free… if the hierarchy had any sense they’d start getting in the ear of these guys and get them to sign pre-agreements in January.

Gnabry is overrated, I don’t think he’s even first choice at Bayern at the moment, a proper one-trick pony like Rashford. We should consider all of the others though. Actually, I don’t know if De Jong is what we need. He’s a bit like Bruno physically, I could be wrong but he always struck me as a little bit on the light side.

Gnabry currently plays behind the striker for Bayern this season so far .. the only player i would touch on that list is Maignan.. De jong is a playmaker type n we need an absolute beast who can cover the distance or push the ball through midfield in some games.

I think we’ll go in for Baleba next summer unless City or someone else gazump us. If we’re smart we’ll do a deal in Jan but for him not to move until June. Brighton might be open to a deal like that.

Killy – What if Amorim doesn’t want/need a “proper, mobile, athletic, defensive minded midfielder” in his system? (Also if he does want that then he can just play Ugarte there!!)
I know its just stats but did you see we’ve had the most shots, created the most chances and have the highest xG in the league so far – or something similar.
I honestly think if we can get one of the goal keepers we have to not throw the fucking ball into their own net we will score more than we’ll concede this season.
We’d be undefeated so far this season without goal keeping errors (and we’d be in the cup still!!)
Let’s see where Amorim gets this team to before seeing what it actually needs._____________________________

@happy – Take your head out of your fucking arse for once ffs! Why would Amorim suddenly be content to regularly play Ugarte in his midfield now when it’s as plain as the nose on Phil Thompson’s face that he just doesn’t rate the fucker?, oh and rightly so by the way because he’s fucking dog shite.
He even spent much of his time at Sporting Lisbon warming the bench when Amorim was his manager there, so good luck with that one mate.
We don’t just need an athletic DMF, we also need a midfielder to run the game, which we just don’t have anywhere in the squad, and to suggest that we could still prosper this season without either one of them given our current useless midfield options is just sheer delusional lunacy, simple as that._____________________________

Right, i’ve taken my head out of my arse. All we needed this summer was players who can score goals, we got those. And a keeper who can hopefully not throw the ball into his own net and we (hopefully) got that too!
That massively improves what we “produced” last season. Over to Amorim now and apparently he’s happy with his pool of Mount, Mainoo, Casemiro, Ugarte and Bruno – so let’s see!!
Then next summer i expect we’ll replace Casemiro, Shaw and Dalot in the starting 11.“The good times are coming back”!!

Even if we got one top CM this summer. He’ll looks shit if the is playing with Bruno in the middle. Out of possession he’ll have to cover the whole of central midfield, Bruno has to somehow be taken out of CM.

Defo 2 mf, but extremely important thing to do is further sales, anyone that’s been here for a while.We literally don’t have unsellable players. And I wouldn’t go anywhere near Gnabry. A. Stiller, M. Fofana. C. Gallagher, A Wharton.,these players we should try to sign.

It’ll happen next summer: GK, LWB, RWB, DM, CM
Looking at contacts expiring in 2026, Guehi will end up at Liverpool, Konate at Real Madrid, Upamecano, de Jong, Asencio all likely to sign new contacts. Apart from that, goalkeepers aside, there aren’t really any players who’d be any more than squad players for us
