Yet another must-win which will always be the case because we’re awful to watch and we’re playing shite.
Galatasaray, of course, hold a one goal lead from that first leg and fully expect them to add a goal or goals to that tally on Wednesday.
Last week’s (predictable) defeat adds to the stat of just one win in six against these but we are unbeaten in the two games at Anfield, drawing 0-0 back in 2022 in the second group phase and the last meeting was 20 years ago, again in the group phase, winning 3-2 with goals from Crouch(2) and Garcia. That was another typical evening where we like to make the other team feel the love and gave them two goals after us sauntering into a 3-0 lead. It’s what we’re good at. Sharing is caring!
Starting lineup that night: Reina, Finnan, *Carragher, Agger, Aurelio, Alonso, Gerrard, Pennant, Crouch, Garcia and *Kuyt.
*Wouldn’t mind Carra and Dirk’s never say die attitude and work-rate in this current set-up of lemons.Who will start Wednesday?
Alisson, Gomez, Konate, VVD, Kerkez, Grav, Mac, Szobo, Wirtz, Ekitike and Mo is my pick.
That forward line doesn’t fill me with excitement bar Wirtz, Ekitike shows about as much muscle as a toddler and Mo is just dreadful. Mo has been an utter legend but needs to go in the summer, he does, as next season won’t be any better. Just don’t want his reputation tarnished. It also allows us to press the reset button up top adding a much needed and fit Isak (he comes straight in when fit, straight in) and a new 7 and 11 to supply him (and Ekitike).
This game could end up anything. Don’t expect too much excitement but do expect the opposition to score.
Do we have the tactics and balls? Likely not.
We should beat them as Gala ain’t good away from home in the CL, losing 4 out of 5 but can see us cocking it up, again.
Liverpool 2 Galatasaray 2 and we’re out (Osimhen will bag).
Sorry lads. Keep hearing the formulaic lip service from certain players and just don’t trust Slot whatsoever.

17th March 2026 at 1:20 am #241666you are being optimistic, we have lost against them twice this season and both results can be explain by simple game management.
We had a awful lineup against them in the first fixture against them and deservedly lost, we had a bad lineup against them in our 2nd fixture against them and deservedly lost.
I donΒ΄t see much changing, 3-4 players will be played out of positiong and all our subs will not have any effect except we might concede when introduced, or actually we will concede as soon as our subs come on.

17th March 2026 at 5:21 am #241670I thought salahs cameo at end of the tottenham game was brilliant, fought for the ball, had a shot saved a couple really dangerous balls⦠and that shitty shot that hit row Z.
This will be make or break for slot. If he gets knocked out, he might be on the brink of being sacked. Because top 4 and an FA cup might not be enough(would be harsh and im never one to advocate for a manager to be sacked).
We just need to be more CLINICAL. Why cant we smash our half chances in like other teams do to us?? This is the game where wirtz has to step up.. hes been dire in the final third, missed a few sitters in the first leg and poor decision making against Tottenham too.
Also will the REAL fans please stand up.. and support the team. Im tired of people telling me that anfields atmosphere is SHITE every game i watch.

17th March 2026 at 5:38 am #241674Slot is already on the brink, lose this and he will be gone.
The style of play and Anfield’s atmosphere are closely connected. This is one thing Klopp was brilliant at and I disagree with anyone who says Anfield was quiet under him. Maybe a few flat performances made it a bit quieter or against a lower team when I think the fans were more waiting and expecting rather than driving them on with excitement and passion. But when it mattered he had the place rocking, hope some match goers can confirm (not been to Anfield for about 20 years!).
If we start fast and get the crowd behind us we should win this. If Gala play with a low block then we will slow our play down and you’ll hear groans on your telly from the crowd. If that happens I can see a 1-1 and a vacancy at Anfield.

17th March 2026 at 11:25 am #241698A very good and important point raised on Atmosphere. I don’t want to say this is across the border as far as the Premier League goes. My view obviously also is armchair and I’m not a match-goer (was years ago at my local).
There are factors of influence:
– Ticket Prices
– Tickets suspectedly in the hands of corporates
– Lack of a creative vibe; e.g. songs/chants/cheers
– Shift in Behaviour; e.g. people on their phonesWhen we are citing observations, the one of which of late is body language between our players and Arnie compared to what I used to see under Jurgen. It’s the little things as they say that make a big difference in our hearts and minds. Remember the ‘fist pumps’ at the end of matches?
It’s not even that the players are half-arsed. There’s just a sense of deflation. Zobo scores a free-kick and the celebrations appear less wholehearted. It appears Arnie has lost the connection with the players and it’s probably more routine and auto-pilot.
I do watch time to time the YouTube Bloggers affiliated and match goers and when there is the same level of despair to the point of jacking in the whole thing, that’s when we sense a Red Flag of essential change that’s needed.

17th March 2026 at 11:28 am #241699On Tomorrow’s game itself, even if we do pull ourselves together with grit, determination and spirit, we need one of them Olympiakos type performances and what I have noticed this season more of in body language is one player waiting/relying on inspiration from another when everybody should be instinctive in striving for the same goal.

17th March 2026 at 11:38 am #241705βSlot is already on the brink, lose this and he will be gone.β
Draw this and he could be gone.
Liverpool have dropped 11 points from conceding late winners which would have put us firmly in 3rd place 1 point behind City.
Couple that with our appalling record of dropping 17 points against the bottom 7 teams and we would be firmly in the mix.
There is nothing inspirational about our style of play.
Itβs slow and passive.
Iβve never been as bored of watching Liverpool games in a long long time.
We are not winning the CL or even going far in the competition.
We can though still qualify for next seasons competition, that is still within reach.
Just look at how Utds new manager bounce and new style of play has transformed them.
We have a squad littered with talent. Itβs not deep enough but itβs much better than its current standing suggests.
I will not be surprised at all if we go out of the CL tomorrow night.

17th March 2026 at 11:40 am #241707If the Liverpool players well and truly want to play in the CL next season, then they just have to find way to go through tomorrow.
These massively overpaid players need to show hunger, fight and passion, no dilly-dallying on the ball, passive defending, silly mistakes or lack of focus at the end of games.
Just keep it simple, best team starts, no experiments.
Now, let’s do it.

What impact will a win tomorrow night have on qualification for next seasons CL?

17th March 2026 at 11:55 am #241716Actually, I was so fixated on (and pissed off with) the league, and combined with having a very business workday. that I absent-mindedly forgot that this was the CL.
What I meant is “If the Liverpool players well and truly want to go through to the next round of the CL”

17th March 2026 at 12:46 pm #241730I don’t know right now having mixed thoughts. I mean, we crash out of the CL tomorrow, would Slot definitely leave??
If so, I’d be relieved and a lot happier going into the Brighton game Saturday.
We go through, and obviously, he stays with us. We then don’t turn up at Brighton and another weekend ruined with the same excuses and it’s rinse and repeat.
No game after that for 14 days. Actually, if we can get somebody lined up as interim to cover a few matches, after the Brighton game, we’ll have time to reflect properly and regroup. I just don’t know other than this.

17th March 2026 at 12:48 pm #241731And us crashing out tomorrow (should this take shape), means pressure in us trying to secure CL footie as well as trying to win a Trophy. Whilst there is still a fighting chance, you would think a club would see this as a cue to bring in somebody new.

17th March 2026 at 2:40 pm #241754Zobo’s interview on Sunday was quite telling. The supporters of many have reached breaking point. If the players are disenfranchised/disengaged from what we’re about this season and Slot’s like the last man Standing, this is it.
Wednesday is definitely make or break because putting the Cup game to one side, we have lost to Wolves in the League. One sticky plaster too many now.

17th March 2026 at 3:35 pm #241755Nil, my feeling is there’s disconnects everywhere and the players are just gonna try and be professional and get thru the season and whatever happens, happens.
It’s just a funk I feel throughout the entire establishment.
Every week is seemingly ‘groundhog day’ (oxymoron?).

17th March 2026 at 4:27 pm #241761Asian, I’m actually glad you pick up on those observations. It’s one of the conversations going on. I’m actually considering taking more of an active interest in the Championship and the Lower Leagues like I did years ago.
Football’s changed a lot for the fans, and fans of old school:
– Atmosphere
– VAR
– Loads of Time added on whether there’s justification or not
– Ticket Prices and AccessibilityThe Vibe definitely has changed and it certainly doesn’t feel the experience it once was. For me personally, this has a lot to do with Jurgen Klopp not being there. Just my own perspective mate.

17th March 2026 at 4:43 pm #241763Konate declared fit (hamstring). Worrying tho, because it’s him.
Isak close to joining the first team. Nuts at the speed of his return. I honestly thought he was done after that Spurs game. Very glad because we NEED him!
