A perfect match. Maresca outsmarted Enrique. PSG were a bad loser. Really bad behavior at the end of the match starting from hair pulling at Cucurella. And the brawl at the end. Keep Sanchez, I don’t want Donnaruma. Ever. This guy is a disgrace. The collision with Musiala. And today’s brawl.
A great performance by every of our players. Palmer is of a different class. I bet PSG with their Qatari money must want him, Joao Pedro, Caicedo ……

13th July 2025 at 10:38 pm #221493What an unforgettable night! I still can’t believe what I witnessed, We absolutely dismantled PSG at their own game. We didn’t just beat them, we outplayed them in every department. The boys showed incredible composure, grit, and flair I’m beyond proud of this team. To be there in person, watching that performance unfold, was nothing short of magical. The atmosphere, the intensity, the result it all gave me goosebumps. Tonight was one of those special moments as a fan. What a pleasure, what a night! Congratulations to the Chelsea boys in forum, I’m sure none of expected this in our wildest dream.

13th July 2025 at 11:18 pm #221494You sum it up perfectly Zizi. Hopefully the non believers in our fan base will finally believe ‘they’ve got there Chelsea back’ and we can become one single fan base yet again. Johnny Minerals is surely going to struggle to keep attacking the club’s ownership and their support staff now, especially if the club pushes on and becomes a real challenger for the title at home. This is the greatest moment under these owners, maybe not as big as the 2021 Champions League success but something special. That performance today was no fluke and shows how far these boys have come under Maresca. I am especially happy for him. Enjoy the moment and now the three weeks break before preseason guys.

14th July 2025 at 12:13 am #221495This victory is making me feel THE Chelsea we know under Abramovich. We won trophies. And we just did again tonight after having won the Conference League a month ago. But on the other hand, how we played tonight feels so different. We did not defend deep and countered like we did UCL finals 2012 & 2021. We matched PSG toe to toe. We played pressing & possession. I think our possession & our waves of attack in the first 10 min shook them big time.
Palmer was our MoM, no doubt but we have to see how disciplined Reece James was & how imperious Caicedo was. How hard Pedro Neto & Gusto ran up and down. Even Sanchez’s performance deserves to be praised.
The money will help but the Cup makes everything even sweeter

14th July 2025 at 12:31 am #221496Just read Maresca’s interview & confirmed what I said: “ However, Maresca was thrilled with what he had seen from his players.
He said: “No words for the players. They deserve [this]. It’s a good moment.
“For me, we won the game in the first 10 minutes. In the first 10 minutes, we set the tempo, we set the way we wanted to play. We were very good. “

14th July 2025 at 6:54 am #221501Brilliant performance by all including the manager, have to say tho I still dont like Reece as a central midfielder especially when we have high quality central midfielders on the bench. I still think his trying to accommodate both Gusto and Reece but thats just my view. Anyway it was a great performance by all, Sanchez is far better keeper when he kicks the ball upfield instead of messing around at the back. Thanks for the lift boys.

14th July 2025 at 8:04 am #221502Great performance and result – I was totally surprised at how well we played and we were unlucky not to get a few more.
We are the World Champions!
Strangely enough, winning the trophy does not guarantee qualification for the 2029 tournament though..

14th July 2025 at 8:49 am #221508Hi Chelsea fans,
Hope you’re all well. With the recent influx of new posters, I’d like to be able to add a moderator from each of the fanbases. The idea is that the mod would just keep an eye on the Chelsea part of the site and ensure it remains a safe place for Chelsea fans to post and debate. While other rival fans should be welcome, they should be respectful and not of a wind up nature. So, in short it would involve:
– Minimal, if any, interventions are expected if posts come from fellow fans of your club
– With your discretion, posts seen as of a wind-up nature from non-Chelsea fans in the Chelsea section can be removed by youAny suggestions for any of your fellow fans on here who you think would be a good shout to do it? It should involve minimal effort imo.

14th July 2025 at 9:00 am #221509WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!
Played well. If we play like we did in the first half next season we should make top 4.
Sanchez although played well made mistakes. What are the GK coaches doing?
Very slow off his line and causes confusion with his backline. He needs to be vocal, command that box!Do we think this was a good season 2 cups and top 4 finish?

14th July 2025 at 2:10 pm #221530For the question from the Editor, I would suggest Chelsea1967 to be the moderator of Chelsea forum in case he is willing to do it. Most of posters from Teamtalk moved here thanks to his suggestion. I think it would only be fitting to appoint him as moderator. What do you all think?

14th July 2025 at 2:21 pm #221531Back to the CWC, the euphoria is still there. While the UCL final 2012 is still my greatest moment of joy as a Chelsea fan, yesterday I think amongst Chelsea matches that I’ve seen since 1994: it was the club’s best performance ever. To nullify but also to dominate the UCL winner PSG with so much talents in their team and with an average age that is even younger than Chelsea: it was a enormous feat. What a performance. I think we can start to call Maresca a genius.
If we can maintain this kind of performance shown during this tournament the whole next season, we would have a chance to win the Premier League. Not only to finish in the top 4 but also to challenge for the title. Last season we were not able to do it as we dipped starting from mid-December. But the acquisitions so far are looking good. Joao Pedro and Delap are looking to be a massive upgrade from Nicolas Jackson. And the return of Andrey Santos from loan and Lavia & Reece James from injury will certainly help our midfield. We cannot all the time rely on Enzo & Caicedo. The sector that’s a bit think would be our left back. Cucurella played a lot of matches and we don’t really have a backup for him.
How much rest would the team have after this gruesome but entertaining tournament knowing that Premier League starts in mid August?

14th July 2025 at 4:12 pm #221534Aindro, I agree Chelsea 1967 Would make a great moderator, he’s been around the bloke and is the closest to Nine’s experience and longevity in supporting the club, he is also a level headed fella so i’m sure he qualifies.
As for Maresca, I wouldn’t call a genius quite yet, under him, we tend to perform well against attacking teams like PSG for example, where the open play allows our possession based style to flourish. However, the real challenge and Maresca’s key weakness lies in breaking down low-block, defensively set teams that sit deep and look to counter. This has exposed the team’s lack of directness and urgency in the final third last season. One standout moment highlighting this issue was in the Conference Final, when Palmer chose to deviate from the cautious build-up and took initiative to drive the attack forward. That moment of individual brilliance underscores the need for more freedom and decisiveness in our offensive transitions, especially against compact teams.
To build on our success and carry this momentum into the new season, Maresca must do the following,
1. Adapt tactically when facing defensive setups, incorporating more vertical play and allowing creative players like Palmer greater autonomy and not restricting them.
2. Play players in their best positions, e.g. Reece James, who is among the league’s best right backs and should not be shifted into midfield roles where his influence is limited.
3. Improve squad balance and in game flexibility, ensuring we can switch gears when possession dominance alone isn’t enough.
If these adjustments are made, we can turn strong performances against teams into consistent success across the entire season and then may be we can call him suitable names after he’s earned them._____________________________

14th July 2025 at 4:14 pm #221535The depth of the squad in terms of quality is starting to look promising. We do need a back-up leftback for Cucurella as we can’t expect him to play every single game. We still need a keeper – Sanchez kept a clean sheet in the CWC final but some of the saves were sloppy and he still leaves me lacking confidence.

14th July 2025 at 4:44 pm #221537Ed, we actually have a solid left back option in Renato Veiga. I’m not sure what’s happened with him or why he hasn’t been used more. he showed real promise in the games he played. If he’s not demanding guaranteed minutes, keeping him could save us a lot of money and solve that position internally.
As for Sánchez, I don’t see the club moving for a new keeper anytime soon not after that recent performance and after selling Petrovic who is a better keeper. But I agree, he’s not someone we can fully rely on. His inconsistency and tendency to make costly errors remain a real concern. and the Mike Magnan noises was just to get our hopes up and nothing more, i mean how could they not pay 3m extra for a world class keeper who was values at 60m 2 seasons ago.( Chelsea valuing him at 8m was a disgrace even if he has a year remaining on his contract )_____________________________

15th July 2025 at 3:42 am #221574Zizi – regarding Veiga, I think his preference is playing Centre Back or DCM, rather than as a Cucurella style left back. According to my, admittedly brief, research, he was primarily deployed as a left sided CB by Juventus. I agree though – I quite liked him and was surprised when he was loaned out.
I agree also with your assessment regarding Sanchez and the likelihood of us getting a new keeper in. Maignan would have been perfect and GK is one position where the management should not be so dogmatic over when it comes to the buying young philosophy.

15th July 2025 at 10:54 am #221583Great performance glad to see maresca change his tactics which also made it great to watch. I hope he doesn’t go back to lots of passing around at the back we looked much better attacking most of the time

15th July 2025 at 11:42 pm #221621It was a perfect performance from the boys and absolutely genius tactics from Maresca. I must say, this was a redemption for him. There have been doubts and criticism not only from rival fans and the media but also from a section of his own fanbase regarding his ability. So for him to lift the CWC is the ultimate redemption.
Cole Palmer is currently at the peak of his prowess. He is enjoying his football again, and the addition of Pedro helps relieve some pressure from him. They look like a dynamic duo. Additionally, Neto is putting up some impressive numbers; I hope his second season will be a breakthrough one. I’m not very familiar with Gittens, as I rarely watch Bundesliga football. If we can pull off the Rodrygo deal, it would be a significant coup for Chelsea. Caicedo and Enzo currently form the best double pivot a team can have.
I was pleased with Gusto; he was excellent again when told to play to his strengths and not invert into midfield. It was refreshing to see Maresca abandon that approach. Chalobah has been great; every time I watch him play, he puts in a solid shift, yet he is being linked with a move away from the club. He is the perfect partner for Colwill, bringing pace and physicality, while Colwill offers a good passing range. Yes, we need an experienced center-back, but not at the expense of what we already have. Badiashile and Disasi should be considered for departure.
We also need a world-class keeper to compete for the title. I don’t think we can rely on Sanchez and Jorgensen.
I prefer not to speak if i speak i will be in trouble.
