Don’t know what to make of this game really. Patchy record home and away and despite the shiteness of Chelsea it won’t make much difference at the weekend. We’re too benevolent to add insult to injury to anyone.
Last season we ran out 2-1 winners courtesy of a Mo penalty and a Jones strike after Jackson equalised.
Who will start? There were a few players missing from training yesterday so who knows who will be available. I’ve polished me Puma Dalglish boots this morning just in case.
Woodman, Jones, Konate, VVD, Kerkez, Grav, Mac, Szobo, Wirtz, Gakpo and Frimpong is my guess.
I don’t care if Chelsea have lost half a dozen games on the bounce (helps for sure, hence my other teams ‘helping’ us to get CL footy). They’ll be miraculously up for it and wouldn’t be shocked if they came away with something.
I just want three points to guarantee CL football and then I wanna pretend the 25/26 season never existed (will still post my pre gamers tho!).

Rob the only reason why I am slightly optimistic about both the Chelsea game and the Villa game is that both teams are in worse form than us. Villa is also likely to focus on European football, it would be massive for them to get that trophy and I actually consider them the favorites there.
Then the lads need to show a better performance than against United, I thought it was terrible how Sesko dominated our backline in the first half, it actually made me wonder about how much time Van Dijk has left. Cause if Konate needs to commit to that dual against Sesko, who can actually win the ball and control it against most players we need a partner that has recovery pace. To follow that run that will come from midfield or the other flank.
I even saw some reports about a potential sale, not that I would condone selling our captain, he should be allowed the choice to either retire at the club or move somewhere else when his contract is up but I think Edwards and Hughes might consider selling him this summer.
I hope not.

Looked at the injury page after some days and my. The same ‘reasonings’ “such and such hasn’t trained with us” Last season we were in better shape so I’m wondering as to why this season is different and a stark contrast.
The problem with our track record this season is that we could allow quite easily a Pub Team to have a run at us. There has to be an explanation. This is why understandably, many won’t even feel in the groove of optimism for tomorrow against a team who have suffered a string of defeats.
Instead of dithering, we should punish them. Probably be the same type of team selection. I don’t feel encouraged of anybody on the injury list recovering and ready for the trip to Villa next Friday and the week after that which will be our final game, who knows.

The match at home versus Fulham was positive in the first half as we started with Rio.
One of the glaring problems is our ability to be self-starters and make something happen, or start something and follow it through properly by supporting each other and offering that outlet. Look at Zobo for instance in the run up to the goal at United which he ended up scoring himself.
Let’s be there for each other than just looking at each other’s faces. Other teams clearly have punished Chelsea in recent weeks. We shouldn’t be any different.

Obviously waiting on the Teams to be confirmed and released. I think Villa will have a bit of a hangover from Thursday and Burnley might surprise them. Hopefully Sunderland too can do us a favour over United as they need 4 points to secure 3rd.
I still wanted us to finish 3rd with it being high as possible and behind the 2 Best Teams battling for the Prem. Would have been some consolidation for a Trophyless season.
Chelsea have Next Saturday to think about ala the FA Cup Final. It will be interesting what line up is chosen today. We really do need cheering up from last Sunday’s misery.
