In the 9 Premier League trips here we’ve won 6 and lost 3 including a 3-2 defeat last season which was one of those many last minute cock-ups with Adli bagging in the 90th minute. He’s only scored once since that late January game. 5 goals they scored against us last season. Shite.
This season an inconsistent start for them and if they’d hung on after leading at City and Newcastle and at home to Everton and Brentford they’d be TOP, but, they are unbeaten since that opening day loss at City, drawing 3 and winning 2 in all comps.
Another but, but, Iraola should know more than anyone how to tackle these as we make the 140 odd mile trip south.
Who will start?
Ali, Araujo, Jacquet, VVD, Kerkez, Mac, Szobo, Wirtz, Gakpo, Isak and Munoz is my guess.Players to keep an eye are Tavernier, Scott, Kluivert, Christie, Rayan and Evanilson. One of these will score if not more.
This game could go either way and be any score. Both teams like to be on the front foot and go but both are open out of possession and draw experts so far this season so a draw it is.
2-2 (but a home win would not surprise me in the least).

18th September 2026 at 6:31 am #257328Big test, time for our big players to deliver against a tough opponent.
Alexis Mac Allister is clearly an Iraola favourite, but he’s best when he plays with a defensive midfielder behind him, as he’s far too slow, and is much more effective running onto the box
Nyoni and Mac Allister controlled the midfield superbly in our win against Spurs, and that’s why I’d play Gravenberch alongside Mac Allister in this game – and drop Wirtz for Szoboszlai.
Now let’s win it.
Alisson
AraΓΊjo Jacquet Van Dijk Kerkez
Mac Allister Gravenberch
MuΓ±oz Szoboszlai Barcola

18th September 2026 at 7:54 am #257333Gravenberch has been absolutely awful. Hes not playing as a defensive player. Should be no were near the team.
Rxtermlwy tough game. I have watched Bournemouth. Much better team then their results reflect. Cant see us winning here. Massive test
Id start noni. Look much more compat in midfield with him. There if that means dropping writz and playing szobo ten or dropping szobo so be it. It wont happen though

18th September 2026 at 8:40 am #257337We should have a decent amount of rest between the Spurs game and this game.
Players trained yesterday with no new injuries.Bournemouth however played their first European game away to Sociedad last night and won 2-1 with a very strong team fielding.
How will their players cope with the travel, the turn around time and the extra intense mins in the legs?
Will they have the squad to rotate and keep up that intensity for the full 90+ mins on Sunday?Bournemouth have the advantage of being at home and being used to playing the intense style of football, will that be enough to build up a lead and then hold on?
Our best hope of taking all 3 points here is to score first and then make them work.
For the Spurs game VVd and Wirtz didnt even make the bench, total rest, so I expect both of them will start. Isak will start at CF. Back 4 will remain the usual of Araujo, Jacquet, VVD and Kerkez I believe.
The big questions come around who plays the midfield 2 and the 2 wide positions.
Munoz never made it off the bench v Spurs so I think he’ll go wide right so now its between Gakpo and Barcola for wide left. Gakpo for me due to the form he’s in, with Barcola coming on at some point.
The midfield 2 I believe will be MacA and Szobo.
Grav just isnt performing even in his cameos of late but I can see Maca coming off at some point after playing the full 90+ mins v Spurs. So the team could be…
Allison
Araujo, Jacquet, VVd, Kerkez
Szobo, MacA
Munoz, Wirtz, Gakpo
Isak_____________________________

18th September 2026 at 9:38 am #257344Thats probs the best team gingee for the right balance.
That means no place for a 123m signing as gakpo is playing to well to leave out or gakpo starts on the right. I really hope we dont see barcola on the right again, its maddness paying that money and playing him out of position
Problem is gakpo is flying and his best position is on the left aswell???

18th September 2026 at 10:00 am #257348Barcola is still getting his match mins up after few to none in pre season.
I expect to see him feature much more after the international break.Gakpo is currently the more in form player but he played 90+ mins v Spurs.
Wouldn’t at all surprise me to see Barcola start left and come off on 60ish for Gakpo. Not a bad problem to have.

18th September 2026 at 11:14 am #257354Ginger I think your team looks correct. Personally I would have Szobo as 10 and Nyoni in midfield. Then wehaev a very strong bench to come on seocnd half

18th September 2026 at 11:20 am #257355Barcola is totally ready, no reason why he cannot start here, why pay Β£123m to keep your star man on the bench? And so is MuΓ±oz, he’s totally fresh and raring to go.
Gakpo can come off the bench, as he played 90 min on Wednesday.

18th September 2026 at 11:35 am #257359Plastic; I doubt MacA will play 90 again if he starts so we could see Nyoni come in as sub for him after his Spurs performance.
Iraola may plump for Gravenberch instead though.

18th September 2026 at 11:41 am #257360Bournemouth have been a huge credit to the Prem and a lot of the credit falls in the direction of Andoni. Who better than the former Manager who would know his former club at the back of his hand.
So that’s one thing in a little bit in our favour at least. Rightly pointed out, we’ve had plenty of rest and it’s a 2pm Sunday game than a Saturday lunchtime game so from travelling on Saturday to the south coast staying overnight, we should be well rested and READY.
READY was definitive for us as we conceded lots of goals EARLY and LATE. This is a ‘LOOPHOLE’ we need to close so that we’re not an easy catch for opposition and certainly no longer any RED CARPET TREATMENT.
We’ve become better in being resilient. This will be difficult but if we can continue with the right mindset by getting a foothold and stamping our authority, there’s no reason why we can’t win this.
I’ll go for a 2-0-2-1 win or at worse a 2-2. Liverpool to remain Undefeated.

18th September 2026 at 12:39 pm #257369If we play with the intensity of the spurs and Madrid games we should win. Bournemouth will be leggy after the Europa game

18th September 2026 at 1:03 pm #257370And this is the problem at the min Plastic, we’ve no consistency currently with our intensity, press etc etc so fans don’t know what to expect.
Hopefully that consistency will come as the players get more used to Iraolas ideas and philosophy.

18th September 2026 at 2:15 pm #257373Surely its the personnel grav and sbozo who are the issue as we are more compact with others in there. Midfield fell apart when they came on tue

18th September 2026 at 2:18 pm #257374Grav and Szobo need to start delivering what the Manager wants. In the meantime, we have been able to rotate so there are less excuses. VVD and Isak have a rest is massive

18th September 2026 at 2:41 pm #257375Rob not everyone is match fit, thatΒ΄s why our levels are dropping and we seem leggy. I donΒ΄t really understand how but somehow Macca came back as our fittest player almost, Wirtz is also very fit, so is Szobo, Kerkez is there. Van Dijk always finishes the 90 minutes no matter what, Jacquet was of the pace to start with. Gomez is unfit. Araujo just got there. Gravy is in diabolical form right now, so slow on the turn and sloppy passes. Barcola was cramping up after 60 minutes, Rio was cramping up when he got subbed off in our last game. In our most disappoint draw 0-0 we were missing our leading forward as well. There is plenty reasons why we seem a bit leggy but I see us improving though.
I would like to point out that almost every sub Iraola has made this season has made a impact in one way or the other. We needed goals to draw or we needed a goal to finish off the game. IΒ΄m still just disappointed with that 0-0 draw of ours at home. I always expected some bumps to happen in our first five games.
If we keep playing our strongest eleven and Iraola keeps improving our performances I got no worries about the season. I really liked that heavy rotation in the cup, thatΒ΄s where some of our players need to prove themselves as worthy for the first team in the league, same goes for the FA Cup. I think Iraola will rotate heavily for both.
