Bingo I am the last one to doubt Wirtz’s quality but he’s no false 9. A false 9 comes deep from the striker position pulling defenders out of position and must be able to hold the ball up. Wirtz hasn’t the strength to hold the ball up and with his skillset you want him facing the goal and moving forwards not the other way around.

Lets file Wirtz as a false 9 in the same location as Isak is a target man 🤣

We should be playing Wirtz as a false nine and we should be playing Isak as a target man, there is no doubt about it. If anything Wirtz is playing that role tonight, it´s just that Gakpo is not doing anything there on the left as I reckon most players are sick and tired of playing him the ball to cut inside.

Threeps, what are Isak´s strengths? It´s his height and ability to hold on to the ball, it´s not his finishing which is not up there with the best of them, he can command the box on his day. If we play to his strengths as a target man he will be successful if we do not he will be a failure. If you think he will be another r9 or Haaland you are mistaken, its not his game. His game is to be clinical when needed and bring others into the play by holding up the ball. If he can´t do that for us he will be a failure.

Same thing with Wirtz, if we continue to play him on the left instead of the middle we will not get the best of his abilities, Coutinho would have dropped into that Bobby role if he had not left. Bobby is the best player we have ever had, the only one capable of completing no look nutmegs repeatedly throughout a game and finishing the game with a no look finish.
