2nd November 2025 at 11:37 am #229745Moonster, interesting if writz was due to start but its just a bit mad whats going on with him.
He has stsrtrd 4 out of ten games on the bench. Had he even finished a full 90?
Our best 3 in midfield when all fit and firing is grav, szobo and macca.
Im genuinely asking people were does he fit in? Gakpo was driving me mad last night. Hes a slot favourite so i doubt writz is going to start on the left so why did we buy him?
Like were does he fit in ?its just seems bizarre we bought him
As there is no plan for him?_____________________________

2nd November 2025 at 12:10 pm #229746Fabinho and Robbo didn’t come straight into the team and that was a team with much less issues than this one.
Last year it was recognised that we didn’t have enough midfielders and the same 3 were overplayed a bit. Well now we have an extra midfielder so they can’t all be on the pitch at once.
MacA had a hernia which prevented playing the last coupla games last season, he went without football for approx 3mths and it’s starting to look like he only getting back to himself now.Personally I would have been even more careful with his integration.

2nd November 2025 at 12:49 pm #229747I agree Ginger. It’s clear Wirtz is some player. Once he’s up to speed with the league and his team mates I think we’re going to see something truly great.

2nd November 2025 at 12:55 pm #229748Ye i get that ginger but were does he ingrate into?
Were does he play if everyone is fulky fit and uts a big game?
So who out of macca and szobo drops out?
Hes 116m player surely he was bought to pkay in the big games?
Ny concern is we have no idea what to do with him? Still such early days but if eased in like the others you have said, who does he replace and were does he play ?
Just interested to see what people think chum.
I like writz. Love watching him but does he fit into our best 11 when everyone fit?
Id have him playing instead of gakpo with an over lapping full back but thats not the way we play?

2nd November 2025 at 1:01 pm #229749I’ve mentioned several times on here on now I think the set up was wrong which hurt us but it hasn’t been the only factor.
As said previous MacA missed 3mths of football/pre season due to the hernia and wasn’t match fit come the start of the season. I believe Slot started him too often too early in the hope of getting him up to speed but that was at the cost of league points.
Isak joined after the season had begun having not played/trained properly for 3mths. I don’t think his integration into the side has been particularly good.
In October he went and played 2 games for Swedan. That’s fine, he’s getting game time but not at a risk of Liverpool losing points. However once he came back from playing those games we started him v Utd days later and he played approx 75mins. Days after that we started him v Frankfurt and he got injured. That’s was a lot of games/mins in such a short amount of time for someone who still trying to get back to full match fitness. In my opinion he should have been managed better.Bradley had an interrupted preseason and Frimpong has had 2 hamstring injuries already having not been injured last season at all.
Kerkez who is younger than Bradley has been thrown in from the start when in my opinion he should have been eased in better. These issues also can affect the team and performance.

2nd November 2025 at 1:05 pm #229751Sean, I expect to see us try a front two with Wirtz in the 10 when Salah isnt available.
Otherwise struggle to see why we signed Isak and wirtz_____________________________

2nd November 2025 at 1:40 pm #229757@threeps “Not spoon fed anyone Asian. If you don’t want me to answer don’t ask me to explain. I’ll spare you the inconvenience next time.”
🤦‍♂️ i wont even bother replying to that!
Holy shit ginger youre actually right… how the hell is afcon on December 21st.. thats bang in the middle of the busy period?? Do these people not have any idea about leagues and games??
Well thats another reason to not worry about the carling cup, games were scheduled for around that time.

2nd November 2025 at 4:00 pm #229761Ye totally sgree about isak and kerkes being integrated slowly. I was very surprised isak startrd v frankfurt as it was his 4th gane in less then two werks
Kerkes is asked to okay a totally different role which doesnt suit his strengths.
Still when both are fully integrated into the team, kerkes be left back and isak be number 9.
Were will writz play?
Fulcrum thinks a ten behind two 9s but i cant see that.

2nd November 2025 at 4:19 pm #229762Spoke with a German colleague last week about liverpool being crap currently.
“But why do you play Wirtz centrally? He plays on the left coming inside as a playmaker. Did for Leverkusen, does for Germany, why does he play central for Liverpool?”
Probably not Slots plan if he has one, but that’s were Wirtz plays.

2nd November 2025 at 4:28 pm #229763Ye threeps but just cant see slot doing that. He says he wont change his twctics and he loves gakpo
Did slot buy him to replace szobo at ten and slot now realises szobo is one of the 1st players on the team sheet?
Or szobo as an 8 and macca drops out?
Problem is he has played last years midfield 3 in all of our biggest games bar arsenal?
Im not saying writz wont be a success but i just dont see were he fits in at the moment and manager is the same?

2nd November 2025 at 4:34 pm #229764I’m pretty sure Sean, Slot didn’t approve the signing of Kerkez so he could invert into a back 3 but that’s where we are with him.

4th November 2025 at 1:17 am #229825Good victory against aston villa, the positives were szobozlai was everywhere and worked his socks off, salah was strong and did well but created hardly anything, Well taken goal. Clean sheet and a victory to boot, great to have gravenberch back too. Robertson was solid if unspectacular, but thats what we were looking for.
Unfortunately gakpo was hardly in the game, same with ekitike and the team hardly carved any clear cut chances. Mac Alister was no better than he was for some of his previous games… so i didnt really see that big change that some of the posters were clamouring about. Bradley played okay, but once again no end product when attacking and still to regain the form he had prior to real Madrid last season.
The negatives came towards the last 20 minutes where we just launched the ball and went to long ball tactics, which gave Aston Villa possession and the initiative (maybe its nerves i suppose). Also konate still making silly mistakes on the ball and was lucky he didnt get punished in the first half from morgan rogers. Still scares the heebie jeebies out of me.
A decent performance against an inform team, but the outcome was a better result.

4th November 2025 at 2:55 pm #229862The conundrum from this season is why Gakpo appears to be virtually un-droppable within the context of performances that, in my eyes, have been fairly mediocre. He plays as a ‘hugging the touchline’ forward, but just doesn’t have the skillset to fully exploit that position. It also turns him into a bit of a ‘one-trick pony’ where his only real threat is the telegraphed move to cut inside, make space on edge of 18 yard line and try a curler towards the far post. In fairness, he’s had some success with this, but good teams just prepare for his ‘90% predictable move & hit’ and can generally nullify it.
So, yes, I agree with others that it would be good to put faith in Wirtz in the wide-left position and try and let him gain some confidence by giving him a decent run there and see where his game develops. I suspect, however, that Slot is favouring Gakpo due to what happens further towards our own goal. Wirtz seems to track back well, as you have to expect these days, but his downside is that I don’t think he’s won a 50/50 tackle all season. Then there’s the issue of defending set pieces in our own box – which has become an issue for us this season – and in this respect, you can see why Slot wants Gakpo in there.
