We were improved, having Grav back has made a huge difference. But villa weren’t great to be fair and we still looked vulnerable and easy to open at times.
Still an important win and something to build on

Great win, but it’s only one win.

We have to build on this by keeping this consistent team, and our usual style of playing from last season, and aim to win both games next week.

Everyone knows my thoughts about Florian Wirtz, he is a top player who will come good, once he adjusts to the PL and life in England, and he’s only 22, so still very young.

But only one thing matters, and that is Liverpool winning matches consistently, and I have absolutely NO problem with Wirtz being on the bench, in certain matches, if that is the best way for us to win these games – like today.

And I don’t care how much we paid for him, though unlike Isak, the price was in the right ballpark for top midfielders, around £110m, just like Fernandez, Caicedo and Rice.

Could actually see some fighting spirit today. That was very positive!
Salah better, but every defender now catches up to him. His speed is gone.
Lacked sharpness. Two fairly lucky goals in the end.

Clean sheet tonight is massive.
Good performance at home.

However I think Villa played into our hands a lot with how they played

Happy for the players, good confidence boost, but I just hope it’s not a false dawn.

Not much to argue about in that display.
Robbo coming back in was a no brainer, we were much more secure.
Back to our old trusted tactics.
Wirtz, I believe he was suppose to have started according to morning reports but there was a fitness issue.
This was probably the easiest of the three fixtures, so keep grounded.

I’m heartened by MacA solid display tonight.

Hopefully this is the beginning of him coming back into form.

Loved his spikiness 2nd half.

Ye definitely would not get carried away.

Some real positives. Controlled the game well but we were 2-0 up gravenberch loses the ball 25 yards out and malen shots wide. Very similar to semanyo goal for Bournemouth . We are 2-0 up no need for everyone bombing forward

The high man to man press is such a huge risk.

Its one game. Delighted to get the win but in no way convinced as still so open at times. Thats not going to change so we are still going to concede chances against better teams. All about trying not to give the ball away as minute we do tye gaps in midfield are massive.

AFCON starts next month mate.
Salah will be leaving in about 5/6 weeks time.
He could very well miss the Arsenal game

I said before the game yesterday, that I would take any sort of win. Villa likely did play into our hands a little, and we were fortunate with our goals. It’s hard to say if it’s any sort of turning point. But the players, manager and the fans needed it, regardless of how it came about.
