Don’t know where to start really (my worry that Slot has the same thought between games).
Villa are doing pretty good this season despite their recent (horrendous) Europa result at Go Ahead Eagles. They haven’t lost in the league since the end of August including winning at Spurs and that excellent result against City last weekend. Doesn’t bode well does it? Lol.
This fixture last season was the type of game we are desperately yearning for which was a tidy home win with good possession and control winning 2-0 with goals from Nunez and Salah. Eee, them wer’t days.
Not even gonna go into detail of our precarious situation (we all know) but will try and rattle off who will start this….
Mama, Bradley, Konate, VVD, Robbo, Grav, Szobo, Wirtz, Gakpo, Ekitike and Mo is my guess.
Salah is just one goal or assist away from equalling the Premier League record for the most contributions for a single club – his 275 for Liverpool is one short of Wayne Rooney’s 276 for Manchester United.
For the visitors Buendia came off last week so don’t know if he’ll be fit (tidy player) but they still have McGinn, Watkins and Rogers and those three will more than likely create many opportunities between them. Villa’s record at the League Champions isn’t a good one only having beat the current League winners once in 30 attempts (at United in 2009) and haven’t beaten us at Anfield for 11 years. Stats that really will likely have no impact this weekend.
Yet again, no effin clue how this game will go so generally when I’m in that boat I go for a draw.
2-2. Dunno. My mind can’t even contemplate the aftermath if we lose this. More disorganisation and lack of belief on the pitch and the LFC hierarchy just ‘may’ just need to have an after game gathering to do some pondering.
AN ABSOLUTE FUCKIN’ MUST WIN.

30th October 2025 at 5:31 pm #229494Yea Rob that’s pretty much the team I’d go for.
Hope Gravenberch is fit to start but early signs look good. Can we please play an actual 4-2-3-1 on the pitch instead of just on paper.
Fullbacks that are wide and help support the attack when in possession. When not in possession get back and defend the wide spaces.
2 holding midfielders that actually hold, can take the ball off the defence in building out from the back and then support the attack.
If Ekitike comes short Wirtz can look to get in behind.
Can we please have some sort of coherent plan?
Can we please not concede first/early?
Can we please defend set pieces/long balls?
Can we please pick up 2nd balls?
Can we please press as a team?
Can we please pass to each other?I don’t think I ask for too much.
Let see what result that brings.

30th October 2025 at 6:04 pm #229497Agree with all that ginger!
My team would be
Mama, gomez,Konate, VVD, Robbo, Grav, macca Szobo, Wirtz, Ekitike and Mo
Gomez to stay put and also for defending set plays and long throws.
Our main priority now has to be to stop conceding goals. We have to stop conceding first.

30th October 2025 at 6:42 pm #229500I can see a villa win, just not clicking at all with the team. So disjointed.
I was on a separate thread and at the moment with woltmode scoring and playing well for Newcastle and Isak so far ain’t doing much it’s like Andy Carroll part 2, we are a laughing stock at the moment
Really hope Slot finds answers but I ain’t raising my hopes at all
Aston Villa to score first (shock horror). 2-1 villa

30th October 2025 at 7:04 pm #229501No point for over-analysis, let’s just win this game.
We have to exploit our considerable strengths to the fullest, such as making Ekitike our focal point, and using Gravenberch as a pure defensive midfielder, while cutting out the weaknesses that have plagued us recently, most notably, stupidly conceding the first goal time after time.
Big test for Slot to see if he can overcome the first major setback of his career. But Slot is a top manager, and all the top, elite managers experience big setbacks at some point, but they overcome them to come back much stronger, so let’s hope he can do the same.
Now let’s do it, and get back on track. Also, Mac Allister instead of Gravenberch, if he’s not fit.
Marmadashvilli
Bradley Konaté Van Dijk Robbo
Gravenberch Szoboszlai
Salah Wirtz Gakpo
Ekitike-

30th October 2025 at 7:35 pm #229506I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ramsay on the bench for this one.
Slot seems to have liked what he saw from him

30th October 2025 at 9:53 pm #229507I’m going to put my neck on the line for this and despite my criticism and berate on Slot, I’d draw a line under purely and simply a nightmare of an October and we begin Saturday with a new and a positive start.
Hopefully just bring back some confidence, discipline and authority. Something we can grab with two-hands and take into the Tuesday game versus Real. If we win those two in succession, it may raise a different complexion going into the game at the Ethiad. At the point of time, we will reach International Break, so I feel now is probably I believe a critical time for us to turn it around.

31st October 2025 at 5:28 am #229511The tactics need to change. Slot needs to admit to himself his choices this season have failed. Will he? Or is he too stubborn?
I think it was Sean who picked up on a good point that it’s a bit like ETH at Utd. He instructed his players to get forward as soon as they obtained possesion leaving them vulnerable to a counter. Everyone could see it, even armchair managers on a forum, but he was too stubborn to change. And this was a highly qualified, highly experienced and well paid coach. I’m starting to see similarities with the two that’s beyond their nationality and shiny dome.
Isak is injured so at least that removes the crazy situation of having two first choice no 9s. Ekitike should be the starter anyway but I habe the feeling Isak won’t be benched if fit.
I hope Slot has found time to do some press and defensive shape training with the first teamers this week, not like he needed to prepare them for a midweek game or anything.

31st October 2025 at 8:54 am #229516Even when klopp went through many bad spells, i never felt a vibe like this as we had a plan.
Im just really astounded at how unprepared we look. You cant tell who is playing were after 80 minutes
Szobo to right back has to stop. Stop moving him around 3/4 times a game.
Even last season i said conceding goals and chances was our biggest problem. If we continue to be as frail and so easy to open up nothing will change
New set piece coach has come in and whats he at?Gvb aswell?
I totally agree about managers being to stubborn. Ego is to big
Its up to slot now to change it and i fully suppory him but after all the money spent , im not sure he will get some of the grace klopp got
Slot showed v arsenal we can set up as a good solid unit. They created feck all againest us. He can do it again.

31st October 2025 at 8:59 am #229517“The tactics need to change”.. deffo an armchair manager statement if there ever was one under the current circumstances… thats exactly the problem we have with the team! Every week its near enough a different tactic, formation(42321, 433, 442, 4222, etc) players played out of position, square pegs in round holes (wirtz left wing, szobozlai rightback, robertson central defence, curtis dm, etc), how you supposed to gel or have any chemistry or understanding of what each others strengths, weaknesses are… one thing i can say is, this slow possession based barca tippy tappy football has to change.. we are way too open when we lose the ball which is inevitable when passing to players who have 4 players around them!
Agree with ginger a solid 4231…
Mama
Bradley, konate, vvd, robertson
Gravenberch, mac
Salah, szobo, gakpo
EkitikeChiesa, wirtz, endo to come on.. please please no kerkez, fuck it get gomez on left back hes done it before, why not again?

31st October 2025 at 9:16 am #229521Asian you’re just showing your lack of knowledge if you think tactics is just about formation and who plays where. You probably still think this is just a new player struggling to settle issue.
So yeah lets gel playing how we are currently set up, great idea. The rot has been there since before the season started, you just cannot see it. The broken dressing room is there, you just cannot see it.
If I am an armchair manager then what are you? Armchair tea lady?

31st October 2025 at 9:54 am #229525Just listen to arne there and i cant believe he says we dont concede chances??? We have been battered many times last season and win games. Great for him to say we need to stop conceding goals but goals come from chances.
He says he wont change his style but we have no style at the moment

31st October 2025 at 10:16 am #229527I still insist signing Isak was the biggest mistake in our transfer history, for three main reasons.
Firstly, we already bought Ekitike, who is a better player than Isak, for ÂŁ80m, so why then buy a much more expensive player to compete for the position? I bet Ekitike was pissed off when he found out. And for those deluded fans who try to justify this ridiculous decision saying we need squad depth, we already had adequate backup at No. 9 with Chiesa and even Gakpo.
Secondly, Isak is highly injury-prone, and is already injured, as expected.
And thirdly, and worst of all, we stupidly broke the British transfer record, when the funds could have been used to buy two top players, for up to ÂŁ60m each, who would have made the team more balanced e.g. a winger (such as Semenyo) and either a midfielder or centre-back (such as Guehi).
Now Isak may still come good, and win us big trophies, but it remains to be seen if that ever happens. And I still can’t get over how incompetent and impulsive Richard Hughes has been with his obsession to buy Isak.

31st October 2025 at 10:32 am #229533I think a degree of arrogance has crept into Slot’s mindset this season. Just rewatching the Bournemouth interview with Carragher when he tells Slot “that worries me” when Slot said “this is the team we are” with all those bodies going forward. Has Slot simply thought this season we’re the champions, we’ve now got all these attacking players, we’re just going to go for broke every game now and it’ll work more times than it won’t. And what with the premier league going even more physical, with long balls, etc, it has backfired spectacularly.
The players confidence has inevitably taken a big hit now so Slot either takes some humble pie and adapts or he’s in big trouble.

31st October 2025 at 10:50 am #229535Songman, we get it, you dont like isak and we could have done better with the funds! But we lost 2 strikers and replaced them with 2 strikers.. one up and coming(Ekitike whose coming into a new league) and one with proven premier league pedigree(isak).. plus as weve seen recently there is the chance of injuries, so good to have backup.
Wirtz has created some good chances, its not his fault salah has fluffed em.. but hes also missed a few chances, like the last game, or the chelsea game which a man of his calibre should be putting em away!
