Killy – I think results just dictate everything don’t they. If Amorim had have taken them on a big winning run then they probably would have bought into the system. But 5 defenders and still conceding goals left, right and centre must have given them a feeling that it was flawed. A clean sheet with only 2 CB’s on the pitch on Saturday. City had 1 shot on target. So the midfield protection combined to sit in front of the back 4 and limit the chances we conceded – then going forward we had the pace, power and talent to swat them aside. Still don’t understand Mount’s goal being disallowed. Especially when you see the Gyokeres and Wirtz goals that were both offside and allowed to stand last week.
3-0 would have been a fairer reflection of the game.

@happy I know but this team has a history of being ‘up’ for the big games but not for the so-called ordinary games. After Arsenal our next five fixtures are in no particular order; Fulham, Everton, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Spurs. All five are winnable if we play as well as we did on Saturday, IF.

We punished City on the counterattacks. We will use the same tactic against Arsenal. But the next 5 games after Arsenal will be different. Don’t think Carrick will use 11 men behind the ball.

Arsenal aren’t as naive as City. They won’t be as open defensively. Think they’ll actually play for a draw. After City’s game against Wolves, they got Tottenham and Liverpool. Arsenal will think they can draw against us and not lose their 5 point lead at the top of the table

Spot on homer plus Arteta is one of the most conservative coaches in the league .. he will aim for a draw with also the mindset of nicking a goal via set pieces plus they aren’t afraid of shooting from outside the box unlike City who seemed too focused on walking the ball into the net against us but i still fancy our chances against them as long as we don’t let them bully us during set pieces.
