So, that was that and the Goonies came out on top… not the most pleasant of football, but I doubt they care and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t swap places with them…
Not much to shout about being a Spuds-lover, I think the only “highlight”, and bloody hell am I getting desperate here, with Micky’s end-to-end goal in the Champions League… other than that it’s just been a succession of disasters and injuries…
So, an “American World Cup” awaits us, hopefully not as bad as most predict, both the tourny and Engerland’s participation… we’ll have to wait and see… before we get to what could be a very interesting season next season… a lot of changes in a lot of clubs… a lot of new managers at the “big” clubs, a lot of challenges for “middle” clubs who have the distraction of Euro footy, and the usual struggle for the “small” clubs to stay on the gravy train.
Next season could be the most unpredictable yet…
New “Managers” at Pool, 115, Chelski, YooUtd, Spuds to name but a few… (okay, Carrick and Zippy aren’t quite “new”, but it will be their first pre-season each!)… a lot of rebuilds going on..
Mid-week football for Bournemouth, Sunderland and Brighton… can they suddenly cope with all the extra games??
Can the likes of Chelski, Spuds, Bone-Saw-Boyz, even Forest, claw their way back into the top half of the table?
Have to admit, already looking forward to it…

2nd June 2026 at 10:41 am #247889Chucks makes you wonder what unfolded this season whether this has been brewing up for a while.
Gunners to be fair to them have had lots of near misses in recent times and this time they finally nail it after 22 years.
Not won at a Canter as Man City going through transition pushed Arsenal as far as they could and almost to the final day. Pep also wins 2 Cup Trophies.
The Standard and Style is up for discussion make no mistake. We can blame the low standard of officiating as much as we can as well as question some of the rules, but arguably, there were so many draws and teams taking points off each other.
We’ve known this for a while in terms of competitiveness which is healthy for the league, but what I also see is the levels dropped of the so-called Big 6.
United would have declined further had they not pulled the plug on Amorim and Thank Goodness for them, they took the plunged and appointing Carrick so far has paid off the right way.
Injuries have not helped teams and changes in Management or Head Coaches. Let’s see what comes out of the World Cup and whether we see a change in certain teams that we are more familiar with.

Not just because of the dross served at Anfield, but the change of style in the league for many teams. Low block, time wasting, barbaric corner routines and long throws.
Spurs fans must have had it worst though. Just a couple of results away from relegation and your rival having their nest ever season. Not to be but still pretty awful.

2nd June 2026 at 2:19 pm #2479213p’s…. dreaded turning the telly on for most of the season… and it felt like every game somebody “dropped” into the medical team… and then we had the Tudor Age… that was a proper fooking disaster from start to finish…
yeah, we finished 17th, but have to wonder were we would be if we only had half the injuries… certainly not 17th…
But have to agree, the football from a lot of teams was horrible to watch, struggled watching any games not involving the Spuds.. and the whole VAR thing was just another shit show from start to finish.
Not sure I would agree with the “big-teams” dropping levels, more of small teams catching up, certainly makes the table more interesting and that’s good for the league as a whole…
As mentioned, making predictions is hard enough in this league.. but next season is going to be even harder than usual…
