All transfers come with risk don’t they so only time will tell if Baleba turns out to be a good one or not. If we can get the version of him from the season before last he’ll be very good and Carrick does have some good success working with young midfielders.
So its Tielemans, Santos and Baleba in for a total of around £150m – not at all the type “midfield rebuild” i was expecting but i can see how that is preferable to spending almost that on 1 player like Anderson. We’ve also added some young talent again in Kit Margetson, Orozco, Tynan Thompson and maybe this other kid from Leicester, is it Paige?
Hopefully they’ll now turn their attention to the left back position.
It’s not going to be an amazing squad but Carrick will have cover in every position – now he needs to coach them into an effective unit. I’m relatively confident we will get into the CL positions again this season and from there it’ll be really time to kick on this time next year.

I don’t mind the Baleba signing because i think he can rediscover his form but for a reported fee of 65M + addons they should have told Brighton to fuck right off. His overall injury record looks good because the most he has been out was 4weeks with a knee injury and that was before the beginning of last season.
Carrick just has to find a way to make them all stick without trying to be the next Luis Enrique or Pep because he got completely schooled by Amorim by ceding the wings to him and focusing on just the middle.

I think Dee was alluding to the same point blacky made earlier, that Baleba spent most of his time on the bench last season as back up to Milner. Not sure that’s 60 mill plus add ons territory mate.
I obviously hope Baleba gets back to where he was season before last but you know what, this is United, so I won’t be holding my breath._____________________________

Probably right, these kids don’t like being shouted at these days!!
They wanted £100m for Baleba last summer so we’re just lucky he had an average season otherwise we wouldn’t be able to get him at all. Either way you’d have to think our midfield options now will be a lot better than last season where we finished 3rd. So let’s see.
A left back is a must though – then next summer we need a defensive overhaul.
Then we’ll be good to go!!!

I’m withholding judgment until he plays although I’m not inspired by this signing. If we’d made it 12 months ago, for £100m, I’d have been outraged and said we over paid and that Brighton took us over a barrel. I’m still thinking we’ve overpaid but I think in the current market this is closer to his value even after a shit season. I’d rather we’d only pay about £50m though.

Well well, haven’t we signed the one I rated little more than Blacky😉😂. Seriously, if he reach his standout season there are no better dmf available who shields the back4 like Baleba. With our back4 shaky as fuck there is plenty to shield . He is 22, strong and athletic just what the crap cb’s needs. Give him 2 years. I’m more worried about our cb’s and if INEOS have any plan at all. After all, they waited the whole window to go for an injured player🤔😂😂😂with a poor last season behind him. Thats Man United nowadays. .
