11th August 2026 at 12:00 am #252757Cole, Rooney, Carrick, Ferdinand, Pallister, David May.
Think we signed more with proven prem league experience such as Yorke, Van Persie, Saha, Tevez, Berbatov, Van Der Saar, Keane, Berg etc than we do now.
SAF would have probably gone for Mane, Rice, Grealish, Kane etc while we went for Maguire, Mount, Bissaka, Schniderlin etc.

11th August 2026 at 1:36 am #252761@jumpers the most vexing part is that no one has been held accountable for years of wasting money on absolute shitebags of players.

11th August 2026 at 6:20 am #252762Jumpers, I think youβll find that when we signed those players you mention, although how David the donkey May got on your list Iβll never know, there were fewer foreign players coming into the PL. That influx came later mate.
And you donβt think Fergie would have gone for Liam Miller, Bellion, Taibi, Djemba Djemba, Kagawa, Dong Fangzou, Bebe, Prunier, the list is fucking endless mate.

11th August 2026 at 6:30 am #252763Another morning and more shite. Bezos buying into Liverpool can only be bad news. They get Bezos, we get Ratshit. And City on the cusp of signing Bouaddi is even worse. Iβm beginning to tink that Andersonβs comment about City being the βkings of Manchesterβ was totally accurate. We just canβt compete.

11th August 2026 at 8:17 am #252765It’s not just the lack of any big signings that’s the big concern, it’s also that these absolute fucking clowns haven’t added any depth to the squad either bearing in mind we should be looking at an extra 15 games to compete in this season at least, depending on how the cup draws go.
All they have done so far is to replace Casemiro and Ugarte with Tielemans and Santos plus Darlow coming in for Bayindir.
The squad is overloaded with fucking crocks as it is, and it’s looking more and more apparent to me that Sesko is yet another one to be added to Martinez, Mount, De Ligt and Shaw, so if we hit an injury crisis with some of the other more ‘reliable’ members of the squad going out for any length of time then we really will be up shit creek without a paddle, simple as that._____________________________

11th August 2026 at 10:02 am #252771To be fair to Hargreaves. He was one of the top combative box to box CM’s at the time. Was the enforcer at Bayern and always battled well against the top midfielders in Europe.
Despite his injuries he actually played the whole of the first season believe it or not. He bossed the midfield in the league against the top sides and most importantly he did it in Europe. That is the reason he was signed, to help us win the CL and he did that. For that first season alone and the level he played at, I’ll give him a pass.
Fuck knows what happened to him after his first season.
Looking at the list on this page, that is some serious fucking money down the drain.

11th August 2026 at 10:03 am #252772If Fergie was around now. Which British players do you think he would try signing?

11th August 2026 at 10:10 am #252775Yeah, Hargreaves also broke his leg at Bayern and we still went back the following season and spunked up what they asked MUFC. Bayern are still pissing themselves to this day.
And what was it that some ex Southampton guy said about Shaw, they only expected to get half what we paid for him.

11th August 2026 at 11:00 am #252779Real did us over with Beckham. The marketing alone we lost should have had the transfer fee around 60 million at least.

11th August 2026 at 11:06 am #252780Fuck Beckham, Real were expecting to pay nearly Β£150m for Ronaldo and we let him go for Β£80m. Imagine the marketing on CR7?

11th August 2026 at 7:26 pm #252797@happyhurling I said top English talent, mate, not simply English players.
@MUFC I absolutely loved Hargreaves but JM is right. he broke his leg at Bayern and we signed him the following season. he was with us 4 years and he played 27 times for us.regarding lewis-kelly, he can play left back and midfield. I remember watching him at the end of the season for arsenal and I thought he was excellent in midfield. what does everyone else think?

12th August 2026 at 4:56 am #252817The reluctance to sell players is more alarming. We have been the only club who consistently holds onto crock and below average players for years while rewarding mediocrity.

12th August 2026 at 8:11 am #252821Lewis-Skelly would be a magnificent signing; young, athletic, skilful, adaptable and, mostly importantly, hungry and up for the fight. 45m would be a steal given today’s prices for a 19 year old who is only going to improve. These are the kind of signings we should be doing at this stage, though I agree (if the rumours are true) that INEOS are biding their time to see how the other dominoes fall (so long as they eventually get the necessary signings done).
Lewis-Skelly, Kone and Van De Ven for a combined 160m or so, whilst managing to sell any of Rashford, Mount, Ugarte or any of the unwanted CBs would be a great end to the window.
