True. Plus remember the loss to Leeds after we’d had a 3 week break?! I think we all agreed that actually momentum is pretty difficult to maintain with fuck all games. Hopefully they can get into a better stride of form and fitness with more games this season.

Heaven is maturing nicely, Yoro gets one more season before he gets sold. I’d give it a year, we’ll strengthen defence next summer anyway

Yeah Heaven isn’t slow and has made some great tackles in pre-season. A CB coming in now basically halts his and Yoro’s progress. I hope we sign a left back to give Shaw a break unless we are going to give Amass a shot on the bench this season. But i think the defence will be overhauled next summer.
Mazraoui did alright at left back in the World Cup too.
Thoughts on that lad Jaydan Kamason at right back? Seemed pretty fast the other day._____________________________

Well if I’d been singing three midfielders, I’d have started with two DMs, from Zaire-Emery, Bouaddi, Mamadou Sangaré (or Baleba of 2 years ago) and added Scott as a playmaking box-to-box type.

Kone’s injury history is fairly chequered, I wonder are they worried it would be another Ederson scenario where he’ll fail the medical? They might prefer Baleba on the basis that he’s seemed to stay fit even though his progress has halted somewhat in the last year

Seems to be a quite a few who wouldn’t mind Baleba if he could be got on the cheap which seems unlikely. From what i seen last year i wouldn’t take the gamble. It seems for whatever reason they don’t fancy Kone otherwise they could have got the deal done already.

It’s a strange thing whenever i find myself agreeing with @Happy 🤣🤣… Heaven is definitely not sloww.
As for stalling the progress of both Heaven and Yoro i did mention it many times that Carrick had already done that with his constant preference for Martinez and Maguire regardless of the performance of either Heaven or Yoro. And the same will continue this season; so they might as well just sign one experienced CB.

Maguire was arguably the best CB in the PL last season Dee, even cunts like Carragher agree. Yep, he makes mistakes but he’ll start the season mate, it’s up to Heaven and Yoro to seize their opportunities. But I recall both of them made their fair share of mistakes last season. We could do with another CB no doubt, but it won’t happen.
